"Atom Heart Mother" and "Echoes" send their regards. The bass-line and motive are super assertive, Davids voice - absolutely soulful and Nick plays, wow!, like the legendary jazz-players. Richards performance don't need a comment - ❤ Another super number!

It's incredible that it took so many years to finally release all this rare and live material, but better late than never, as we say. I' glad to own the individual box setsq for the Early Years. A pity they didn't do the same for the excellent years from 1973 to 1977... Embryo is certainly one track that was good enough to be released, especially with the instrumental sections that the band could develop on stage.

And this fantastic track was not given the full studio version and put on an album. All we got was a demo version on 1970s Harvest Records sampler album, Picnic. A full, finished version should have been put on Meddle... And thus spared us tripe like Seamus. And why this couldn't have been played at Pompeii, instead of more dog barking bilge in the form of Madamoiselle Nobs, is one of the great mysteries in the Floyd Universe. 😊😮😢

Given that Pink Floyd rerecorded Careful with That Axe, Eugene a few times (Explosion, Come In Number 51, Your Time Is Up), I wonder if they’d ever intended to record this longer version of Embryo for anything. It might’ve fit quite well thematically on Atom Heart Mother.

First heard this as "bootleg" CD (Montreux Casino) I purchased from a local record store in '98 or '99. Got my first guitar (a black Cort strat style) a month or so later and eventually had my mate transcribe Gilmour's intro. Maybe half a year later, I wandered into a room and heard the beginning of the choral section of Atom Heart Mother suite emanating from headphones on the floor of a strange place at a time when I needed it most. I was calmed.

It is curious how cameras in the 60s and 70s seemed to be magnetically drawn to singers. Whenever they started singing, zoom, everything else was duly forgotten. I guess the singer back then was perceived as the focal point of the band, while the rest were mere supporting musicians.
