I was lucky enough to experience Pink Floyd perform this live with brass and choir at the Colston Hall Bristol UK Dec.1971. It was fantastic. I love Atom Heart Mother. I was 16 years old. Pink Floyd helped me to learn how to be with sound and to use it to enter into inner/cosmic space. I have listened to their music since 1966/67. Their music never sounds the same no matter how often I listen. It is always moving- spacious- transformative. I listen to period from 67 -75. Mostly Ummagumma to Meddle. It was a period of formation and deep learning for me. I thank them deeply and feel grateful to have been here at the same time as them with all the music and creative performance they gave us all.

To quote Monty Python " You lucky bastard". I've seen Dave and Roger's solo tours twice, but I don't think that they could hope to compare to anything from that time period. All I have is this channel and bootleg recordings unless I can get my hands on a time machine.

Can you imagine what causes Pink Floyd to a young guy around 1980 in East Germany? It was the perfekt medium to enter into inner/cosmic space. It was transformative. For me the preparation for the revulution 1989. Such music is now neccessary for the russian zombies which kill and bomb whithout any thinking in Ukraine.

We just saw Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets in Melbourne playing a medley of Atom Heart Mother and If from the same album. It was a shortened version (perhaps not a bad thing) but it made us realise that it's a piece of music with real weight and power, and some beautiful moments. The band's negative opinions of it may be coloured by the difficulties they had recording and performing it, but I think it's due for a reappraisal. Certainly the crowd reaction suggested it still has many fans.
