Inna is definitely a Pink Floydish person. You can easily sense that in people, but cannot describe that sensation in words. Pink Floyd turned music into philosophy. They set the bar so high that no one was able to come even close to their level. Even Led Zeppelin haha. Having a time machine - "Delicate sound of thunder" or "Pulse" concerts is my first destination
@NiersFloater
@NiersFloater 3 ай бұрын
Between Delicate Sound Of Thunder and Pulse I´d definitely go for the first, Pulse was imo kind of overproduced while DCSOT was more pure and closer to the original PF. Btw on my time machine schedule would be Peter Gabriels Secret World Tour too, an fantastic experience of an other kind.

The song is an anthem. It is styled that way. I love how, after the keyboard intro, they maintain that long chord, resembling a bagpipe to my ears, underneath the vocals on the first verse.

Pink Floyd is a band for the THINKING LISTENER. Some of their albums, or songs (for that matter), could form the basis for a college-level course in philosophy or psychology or even sociology. This song clearly reflects the times when it was written (maybe even beforehand) and has remained relevant to the problems of society in 2023.

One of the truly GOAT Rock Bands in history, (Progressive Rock is their sub-category). Formed in London in 1964, Pink Floyd has sold hundreds of millions of albums worldwide! This concert was in 1988 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale New York, it is one of the five concerts, (August 19 to the 23rd) that make up their 1988 "Delicate Sound Of Thunder" Live album.

This Delicate Sound Of Thunder concert takes us back to Pink Floyd's younger days (1987), seven years before their great Pulse concert. I saw them on this tour, and they were stunning. Check out another superb song from this concert, which is often overlooked: The Dogs Of War. Love your channel, Inna. Keep up the good work.

1987 is hardly the "younger days" of a band that began in 1965 ( in fact a box set was released of material beginning with 1987 which is called "The Later Years") . Plus the concert wasn't "The Delicate Sound Of Thunder", that was the name of the live album that was recorded over five nights in New York in August 1988 as part of the "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason Tour" which went over a number of sections from 1987-1989.

This is a 2019 remaster of the 1987-88 'A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour' which was extremely successful and extended with 'Another Lapse Tour' into July 1989. Sadly, keyboardist Rick Wright passed away in 2008. Very noticeable is the absence of Roger Waters. This tour went to places PF hadn't played before (Norway, New Zealand etc). I'm old enough to remember when they came to Australia in 1971 and this 87-88 tour was their first return since 71. I still play PF LOUD when I have the chance.

Let's just say that love wasn't the main subject of Pink Floyd's songs, as these numbers demonstrate: Pink Floyd - ON ALL 15 albums, including two doubles: The word (love) appears only 28 times. On the other hand, Led Zeppelin - Only on the song (All of my Love): The word (love) appears 28 times. And even Queen - on the song (Somebody to Love): The word (love) appears 35 times.

At the band's inception, Sid Barrett days, they decided there would be no love songs. All would be about causes, injustices, the earth and solar system,social injustice, etc. No love songs written! Yet Gilmour's guitar solos emote love, hope and compassion without saying a word. No lyrics required! The instrument is the medium unto the song's messages of emotion. Same for the "Great Gig" singers. No lyrics, just the power of the voice alone in generating very much undeniable emotion.Always WOW! for Floyd!

I have been lucky enough to see Pink Floyd in concert four times in my life. Last Saturday I saw the tribute band's show (Australian Pink Floyd), which is very professional. It was a very good show, in keeping with the sound of Pink Floyd, but without David Gilmour it was missing that little something that gives you goosebumps. But I highly recommend this tribute band, they perform very well and they will surprise you with their special effects.

David Gilmore and Anthony More may have missed their true calling as Phycologist. But the rest of the world would have suffered. There is no doubt that Pink Floyd elevated their music after Rodger Waters left the band. I saw them in the early 80's and again, early 2000's and the band just played so much more relaxed. eEeryone could tell that this was not a job but their calling the second time I saw them play.
