@@mgass1354 "Pink Floyd is one of the few bands that sounds as good, if not better, live" In my experience, I have found the opposite to be true. I have been to over 300 major concerts, and with very few exceptions, the overwhelming majority sounded better live. In addition to Pink Floyd, which I have seen 10 times (Roger Waters solo was another 10), I have seen bands/artists such as, Genesis, David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Jethro Tull, Santana, The Grateful Dead (about 35 times), Crosby, Still, Nash, and Young, Nightwish, Steve Miller Band, Bob Dylan, Sting, Steppenwolf, The Guess Who, Marillion, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty, and many others. Thank you so much for reacting to this. I was in high school here in North Carolina when this song first came out in 1979. I remember it well. My girlfriend and I at the time loved attending concerts. It was one of the things we loved doing together. My wife loved concerts as well during that time. There were a huge number of wonderful groups at the time and concerts were not very expensive to attend. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Triumph, 38 Special, Foreigner, and many others. I can not describe to you what a wonderful time it was to be young then. We were happier, relationships were closer, life was more carefree, and the music was spectacular. My heart just aches that young people will not get to experience life as we did as teenagers in the 70’s/80’s. Our 4 adult children (28-33) are big fans of 70’s-80’s music like my wife and I are. It’s great, lol. Again, thank you so much for posting this video. It was a wonderful treat.

Hello Inna, Thank you so much for your reactions to Pink Floyd’s most iconic songs. I am luckily enough to have seen them in concert 4 times. Your reactions and analysis of the songs are very good. It’s a delight to have a young persons view on this legendary band. I’ll check out the other bands you have looked at. One band I would suggest is the Canadian band Rush a progressive rock band from Ontario Canada. They were a three piece outfit guitar, bass and drum although they all had bass pedals. The bassist played keyboards, even the drummer had a keyboard that he could hit with his drum sticks. You were impressed with Pink Floyd’s drum kit Rush drummer Neil Peart’s is bigger. He joined them in 1974 and retired after 40 years, he sadly died in 2020. Songs you should cover Tom Sawyer Closer to the Heart The Spirit of Radio Peart was also their main lyricist. Have fun on your music journey pretty lady. Regards John

Although I was and still am a life-long Pink Floyd fan, the fact that they came to our little city to perform made myself, and thousands of others cry in joy. My wife and I were 10 seats stage left of the mirror ball/sound engineer. The sound system was in true Dolby surround. Mind blowing clarity. Front speaker stacks, rear stacks and smaller stacks in the upper deck seats, mid-way. 55,000 fans crammed into our outdoor stadium on a gorgeous 27°C summer evening. Comfortably Numb brought the entire stadium to tears of happiness. Literally one of the most profound days of my life.

Pink Floyd's back story, from the tragic-creative genius founder lead guitarist and front man singer/songwriter Syd Barrett, who David Gilmour replaced after Syd went off the DEEP END; thru bassist Roger Waters, who I think wrote the lyrics to "Comfortably Numb" about being too screwed up to go on stage for a show one night -- the whole "Another Brick in the Wall" & "Dark Side of the Moon", and "Wish You Were Here" about Syd -- It is a Pink Floyd rabbit hole, but a GREAT, one of a kind rabbit hole to dive into -- DIVE, girl, DIVE (but you probably have already since I came to this 4 months later ....... My favourite Pink Floyd song from a band I loved since hearing their legendary album, The Dark Side of the Moon, as a kid back in the early 80's. The song was written by Roger Waters, the bands bass player and main lyricist who left the band about 10 years before the Pulse concert after a huge falling out with David Gilmore who played that brilliant guitar solo. Waters was suffering from severe stomach cramps before a show on their US tour in 1977 (in Philadelphia I think) and was incorrectly diagnosed with food poisoning which turned out to be hepatitis. A Doctor gave him something for the pain which did make him feel 'Comfortably Numb' and it seems it was a very unpleasant experience and the inspiration for this song.

@Scott Miller what was the date of the show? I probably have a copy of it. As much as I love how fine-tuned they were into the 70s, there's something about the rawness of those shows from 1968-71 that brings something special.

For the avoidance of doubt, the above story about the song is completely made-up BS: The concert was in 1994 and the song had originally been written about Syd Barrett as was the whole album which was called Wish You Were Here. This song was about attempts to get Barrett ready to perform in a show when he was off his head on drugs and completely incapable.

I'm a first time watcher of your channel, as my personalized YT algo frequently pulls up Comfortably Numb reactions. Your reaction is good, and I look forward to seeing you explore other PF tunes & performances. It looks like others are already giving plenty of good suggestions, but I will say this: listen&react to their albums as whole-sides (as in their original LPs), with the lyrics in-hand to react to the intertwined messages built into the whole song(s). I saw this concert tour as it came through Chicago's Soldiers Field Stadium in July 1994. I was incredibly lucky to get a ticket; it was the best concert I'd been to (I was in my late teens) and have ever been to since.

Sat in the 7th for for this. Of all the concerts I have seen....and I have seen some of the greatest bands to occupy a stage, but Floyd.....is just in a different league.

I've been listening to Floyd for over 50 years. When I was very young I didn't know who I was hearing, and would later recognize the music and experience memories. Pink Floyd became a regular feature almost daily among my musical and artistic friends and I when we got older. I find their music to be very therapeutic, almost meditative. Their music is definitely its own vibe and a magical journey that never ends. If one listens 🎶
