"See Emily Play" was recorded in a much longer form which was then edited down for the single release. It was recorded at Sound Techniques studios in Chelsea, London on 21 May 1967. There was much trickery involved in the recording with backward tapes, much use of echo and reverb, and the first piano bridge between the first chorus and second verse was recorded at a slow pace then sped up for the final master.

This was Gilmour's first TV work with the band. Barrett was still technically a member of the band but it had recently been decided to no longer collect him for gigs or shows. i know some people will hate me for this: but without syd there is no fire in the sound. just melancholia and no more spirit, fun, shining and sparkling freakyness of syd. nothing about dark side.... THIS is just unspeakable, but do they really make money out of syd´s fate? great musicians but incomplete! i am sorry for them.

We got enough with the Beattles. With Syd it sounded the same. But without him, the band changed for good.

Don't compare pink Floyd to the Beatles... Pink Floyd without syd is amazing but syd was a creative genius his lyrics are something else plus guess what inspired pink Floyd (mainly roger waters) to write all the songs when syd left. Syd himself is the focus of most of their songs wish you were here is solely dedicated to him

I like how the Barrett-less Pink Floyd are miming to Syd's song while Barrett was already kicked out from the group by the time of this music video (presumably), probably made in '68.

This band is so underrated. I believe this song is about the illusion people create about life and how they are going about things all wrong and the answer is in such plain sight that it looks like a bunch of lunatics running around to them, and the band is imitating what these people look like from their perspective because they are going about life in a way that just doesn’t actually make sense. There’s no other day like today Let’s try it another day There’s no day like today because YOU have the power inside yourself at ALL TIMES to create your life the way you want it. The only the stopping you is your feelings and you being afraid of what people think. That is why people need to experience ego death in some way or another. to stop worrying about all the nonsense that doesn’t matter. if you don’t understand this: You’ll lose your mind and play free games for may. See Emily play

what the hell of a video is that? The guy you don't see much of is not Syd Barrett but a very young Dave Gilmour. They must have taken the original video and cut Syd off, redid some parts of the video and put Gilmour in God knows why But that is not Syd Barrett, I tell you
@JohanAuditore429 жыл бұрын
+Gabriele 95 The video was filmed at the same time they where touring (idk where, i forgot) without Syd but with David, thats why Barrett isn't at this clip. However Syd was still part of the band, but not for much time. It's early 1968. Cheers

Poor Syd. He wrote all the songs and the band milked him for all he was worth even though they knew he was ill. He's not even in the video for this or Apples and Oranges.

That's Rick the keyboard player. The fourth guy is David Gilmore. He would lip sync Syd's songs and later say it was very embarrassing for him. So rather than putting the whole thing on hold and get Syd the help he needed, Pink Floyd just snuck in Gilmore and hoped no one would notice, meanwhile putting added pressure on a sick individual to write more hits behind the scenes.
