The final installment of Pink Floyd Album Reviews, JT Curtis ranks their studio albums +1 from worst to best. Which album will be number one?
#pinkfloyd #albums #HistoryofRock #top10 #Ranking #Ranked #DavidGilmour #RogerWaters #nickmason #RichardWright #Rock
Pink Floyd is without a doubt one of the greatest classic rock bands of all time. They began in the 60s with Roger Waters on bass, Nick Mason on drums, Richard Wright on organ and Syd Barrett on lead guitar and vocals. Syd was the band's leader and chief songwriter in the early days, penning their first singles Arnold Layne and See Emily Play. This would lead to the release of their 1967 album Piper at the Gates of Dawn, featuring classics like Astronomy Domine, Flaming, Bike and the epic psychedelic instrumental Interstellar Overdrive. Their live shows were equally inventive incorporating unique light shows. However due to Syd's intake of LSD mixed with a breakdown involving schizophrenia, he would gradually be pushed out of the band he fronted, being replaced with David Gilmour on guitar. This would become Pink Floyd's classic lineup with Roger taking more of a songwriter role, including the song Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun which would appear on their 1968 album A Saucerful of Secrets. The album was the only to feature all five band members and Syd's final composition with Floyd, Jugband Blues. Through albums like the soundtrack to More and the experimental Ummagumma, Pink Floyd was still finding their voice, focusing more on albums rather than singles, but still producing an occasional classic like Careful with that Axe Eugene. In 1970, Atom Heart Mother proved to be a success with the 23 minute instrumental and featuring Dave's song Fat Old Sun. 1971's Meddle would turn out to be an important staple for the band with the rocking opener One of these Days I'm Going to Cut You Into Little Pieces, featuring a rare spoken vocal by Nick, Roger's echoing bass line and Dave's Slide Guitar. The flip side, another 23 minute piece, Echoes, featuring Dave and Rick on vocals, is often regarded as Progressive Rock's finest moment, from the opening ping of Rick's leslie piano. They would also perform both these songs along with earlier classics Live at Pompeii. The Obscured by Clouds soundtrack appeared in 1972 with tracks like Burning Bridges and Free Four. However 1973's Dark Side of the Moon would become one of the most successful albums of all time, staying on the charts for nearly 13 years and still a best seller today. Roger's lyrics dealt with the evils of society driving one to madness, while the music was nearly one entire inter-connected piece (making it difficult to separate for a playlist or a best of / greatest hits compilation). Still standouts like Money, Time and Great Gig in the Sky are favorites among fans. Their 1975 followup Wish You Were Here, featuring the opening and closing piece Shine On You Crazy Diamond (a tribute to Syd Barrett who even showed up at the sessions), is thought to be equally great, if not greater, as Dark Side. But tensions between the band were beginning to rear their head. 1977 saw the release of Animals, likening three animals: Dogs, Sheep and Pigs to various classes of society. Roger became the band's main frontman and sole songwriter with Dave occasionally sharing the mic and writing credits. Tensions grew during the tour when Roger ended up spitting on a fan in Montreal and coming up with the idea for The Wall to separate himself from the audience. 1979 would see the release of The Wall, the album and later the tour and film. Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 became their best selling single and Comfortably Numb remains one of their most popular tunes. But it nearly broke up the band as Roger fired Rick for lack of output, creating a greater rift between him and Dave. 1983's The Final Cut was Roger's final album with Pink Floyd before he officially left, leaving Dave and Nick to reunite with Rick for 1987's Momentary Lapse of Reason, featuring the song Learning to Fly. Roger sued to break up the band, but failed to do so instead focusing on his solo career. The Gilmour led Floyd would produce 1994's The Division Bell, a return to form for many fans with Rick now sharing vocal and songwriting duties again. Songs included Take it Back, Coming Back to Life, Keep Talking and High Hopes. It wasn't until 2005's Live 8 concert when Dave, Nick and Rick reunited with Roger for a short set giving closure for many fans. Syd never performed with Pink Floyd again and died in 2006. Rick died in 2008. The album The Endless River was dedicated in his honor. Pink Floyd's legacy has continued to inspire fans and aspiring musicians, myself included.

Regardless of how my taste or mood changes, Animals is a go to. It is a winding journey that checks every box, every time. In fact, some of my favorite live performances have been other bands covering the whole album or a song from it, e.g. Les Claypool's Flying Frog Brigade @ House of Blues in Vegas 9/22/02 (it was an aftershow following Phish @ Thomas and Mack Center)

I saw Pink Floyd play “Animals” and “Wish You Were Here” in their entirety, one after the other, (with “Money” as an encore) in 1977 as a 17 yr old, tripping out of my skull! And all for £3.50! So “Animals” is my go-to Floyd LP! After that it was a rapid decline with “The Wall”….that was so disappointing that album, especially after seeing them in their prime and expecting so much. There’s at least 6 classic tunes on there, but the rest is just filler. It was the pointer to the direction they’d take under Waters’ dictatorship.

@@JTCurtisMusic I too wanted to comment how great it was to see you respect what made some people resonate with just about every album. I mentioned I love Endless River and is in my personal top 10(I used to say top 5) because it was the first time I just listened to Pink Floyd with the full attention and took in what kind of musical atmospheres they have to offer. Before that I knew of the band and had nothing against them but never really payed enough attention to appreciate what Money, Another Brick in the Wall, or Wish You Were Here had to offer because I mostly only heard them in public places where I wasn't that focused on the background music. Especially knowing nothing about the band or their music career journey. I've grown to love all of those songs though. Time and Comfortably Numb were the first few songs that made me curious to check them out. Since you didn't mention many people that love The Endless River or that perspective, I was wondering if you've stumbled upon many other fans online or in person who rank it as highly as I do? To further elaborate what it means to me, it was introduced to me through a good friend who's been a huge fan his whole life and he and I listened to The Endless River CD on repeat when it released in 2014, so as of this year in November, it'll be 10 years that I've been a huge fan of the band

Final Cut imo is better than division bell and momentary lapse, not a fan of those albums but I do like songs on them. Many Individual songs are better than the ones on Final Cut when I think about it but overall for albums I put them after Final Cut because it’s clear to me there’s something missing. If the better songs of the two were put into one I’d say that album is definitely better than Final Cut but with the overall product the albums don’t feel as enjoyable, emotional or meaningful to me. Edit: I do like Division Bell and think sonically it’s better, and has some better aspects

Meddle is the best Pink Floyd record for me. It has been in my life for such a long time. I used to have a dream as a kid that would recur every once in a while and there was music set to the dream. The dream was quite beautiful and has many layers to it that I’m still unraveling to this day. It wasn’t until middle school that I started getting heavily into music of new and old and Pink Floyd was a band that I would often hear of. DSOTM was an obvious starting point and I worked my up from there chronologically and loved what I was hearing. It wasn’t until my uncle showed me fearless that I became interested in meddle. I remember listening to the first side of the meddle liking it quite a lot and then when side two came on and echos played, I realized it had been the music from my dream. I couldn’t believe it and since then it has basically become the theme of my life. I’ve loved this series and I can’t wait for whatever comes next!!

Honestly, I was shocked with such a harsh take on "The Final Cut". Even if you don't like the album as a whole, there are so many amaaazingly sounding songs. The prodution is amazing, I actually think that Roger's voice is very emotional and personal and MAAAN, the solos, this album contains some of the most heart-wrenching Gilmour's solos ever. "Your Possible Pasts", "The Final Cut", "The Fletcher Memorial Home", "Not Now John", these solos are piercing. Especially the title track, it's such a gargantuanly underrated song ;___; I honestly don't get it, even if one finds the album as a whole lacking, it's DEFINITELY doesn't deserve such a bad rating imo

Animals - Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise / If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze? 6. The Final Cut - And if I show you my dark side / Will you still hold me tonight? And if I open my heart to you / And show you my weak side / What would you do? 7. A Saucerful of Secrets - Witness the man who raves at the wall / Making the shape of his questions to Heaven... Set the controls for the heart of the sun 8. Obscured by Clouds - You are the angel of death / And I am the dead man's son / And he was buried like a mole in a fox hole / And everyone is still On the Run 10. 0:57 19:44 Look Gary, there I am! But seriously, I loved every review. It was fun to go through and to have all the albums laid out in such a fun way for me, and it even got me to reconnect and to appreciate albums I'd given the boot before. Since this series has started, I even went out of my way to get every single album on vinyl. Yes, even Ummagumma. I have a lot of fun stories to tell about how Pink Floyd got me through difficult (or incredible) times, but the one experience I have the fondest memories of was when my mom offered to take me to Dark Side's 50th anniversary show at our local planetarium this past November. Having been born in '98, being far too young to properly experience them live, this was about as close as I could get to going to a live show, so I went. And it was magical. Even if it was just the album with visuals made by the Floyd's theatrical team, it was still such a mesmerizing experience. By the end, as Eclipse was hitting its final peaks, I was in actual tears. I had to compose myself in the bathroom for like 5 minutes lol. This was a fantastic series, JT. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you. ❤

A Saucerful of Secrets 11. A Momentary Lapse of Reason 12. The Endless River 13. The Final Cut 14. More 15. Ummagumma 1-7 Perfect 8-9 Solid 10-11 Good 12 Meh 13-15 Horrible Controversial opinion about 3, but Atom Heart Mother is such a fantastic album! The album that started the 70s with a bang. The title track on side 1 may be almost 25 minutes long, but it's such a masterpiece! If, Summer of 68 and Fat Old Song are fantastic songs. Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast is an interesting track but different for what it is. I decided to put Piper at 4 because I have some of my favorite songs off that album. Astronomy Domine, Lucifer Sam, Pow R. Toc H., Interstellar Overdrive and Bike are the highlights for Piper. Such a fantastic album. Some debut albums are very good and are high on a lot of people's different lists, but they were get better with their sound later on. Ranking 5 & 6 was very hard for me because Animals is a fantastic album and it's awesome. However I do agree with you Meddles is a fantastic album! It definitely was perfect and Pink Floyd going the right direction. I actually didn't mind the dog song at all. I might be biased because I have dogs for pets and I love my dogs. I do agree with you on The Wall. It's got a ton of great songs, but there is some filler and it could not be higher than 8. The Division Bell is at 9 only because I love the other 8 more. I gave more credit to Piper than you because some of the highs were so good that I put it as high as 4. I gave A Saucerful of Secrets higher than you at 10 only because the lower albums are either bad or are just solo albums from Gilmour and Waters. The Final Cut is not that great really. And I had the soundtrack album More low because it's a soundtrack album. But I agree about Ummagumma being bad. It's awful and I can't blame the members for saying it's awful. My list might get me controversy too, but ranking albums is tough for so many bands. It's a tough task, but I'm glad you did Pink Floyd albums ranked.

Can't tell you enough how much I loved watching your journey through Pink Floyd's discography and seeing someone else so passionate to talk about my favorite band! Dark Side has to be my favorite album of all time too. For certain albums I can pinpoint the exact time I listened to that album and could tell you what I was doing. For Dark Side, it's hard to remember the first time I listened to it. For me, the album always seemed to be there and I guess it just has always been my favorite album for as long as I can remember. And I doubt that will ever change. Can't wait to see what you do next with the channel! Please cover David Bowie's albums next! lol. Whatever you do next I'm sure will be great(: Also, I idolize your hairstyle and hope to look as cool some day. What would you call your hairstyle?

One of my favorite memories is of my dad listening to his brand new component stereo system. He had no album of his own and borrowed my DSM off of my turntable. I walk into house as I hear the opening of time begin. I head straight for the family room to find old dad listening to all the sounds chasing around and around the room. I started to say something to him and he hushed me. I sat down and watched as he consumed side one. I knew he had to listen to side two in quick succession, so I got up and started side two. He would close his eyes a just float away with the sounds coming out of his new stereo. At the end he said little, but damn I never heard music like that before. He continued the sounds race back and forth round and round. Sounds so good. I simply said yeah, I know.

Pink Floyd were pretty much my introduction to music, sure, I've listened to other music in the past when I was a kid, but when I chose by myself to get into music, the first song I listened to was Echoes, back then a 20~ minute long song was insane to me and I immediately loved it, I've never heard anything like it before. Pink Floyd are still my second favorite band (Radiohead managed to dethrone them, but to me they're pretty much equal) and heavily impacted my music taste, they're very important to me. So I decided to also show my own list, like a lot of other people here, along with a few thoughts of mine about each album. 15. More: By far their weakest album imo. It certainly has its moments and there are a lot of interesting styles that the band never really experimented with again. But the production and sequencing is flawed, it's a mixed bag and overall it sounds like the silly little brother of Saucerful. 14. A Momentary Lapse of Reason: Despite it being so low, it's a really great album, I just prefer others over it nowadays. When I first listened to it I really loved it, it was probably one of my favorites, but after that, the next listens were nothing, it had nothing more to offer to me really. Though there are some great tracks here. 13. The Endless River: People really don't understand this album at all and call an *ambient tribute* album a cash grab because they were somehow expecting something more from it. People should accept it for what it is and not whine about how there are better albums than this and just enjoy it for what it's meant to be. Not to mention that the tracks feel somewhat familiar to their older works and really gives the feeling that these are the end credits, it's a great finale for an even greater band. 12. Ummagumma: This album is sooo muuch better than people make it seem to be. When I first listened to it, I despised every single second of it, nowadays I really really like it. Even if people who think music are funky noises coming from a radio that tickle your ears and nothing grander personally hate its sound, they should at least recognize its importance; without Ummagumma, PF would probably break up and be remembered by 4 people as a short lived yet interesting little psychedelic space rock group. The band lost their leader and had to find their new identity and while More came first, the band were self-aware about this being just a soundtrack album and nothing more so it didn't really help. And thus they did the obvious and most logical thing to do: experiment. And each member had to experiment on their own to show what they can deliver. The result is very hit or miss, but this was their first step to creating their new identity which would be completed by AHM and Meddle. I blame this album for turning me into a "pretentious" nerd who likes abstract music. Jokes aside, it unironically opened my third eye and made me realize what music truly is: art in the form of sound, ANY sound, pleasant or dissonant, from an instrument or not, everything has a meaning. The listener should listen carefully to everything (even silence), figure out their meanings and imagine what the music is trying to show. Richard's Sysyphus is genius, Roger knows how to create a wild natural atmosphere, okay, Dave's work here is the best and Nick... He tried. 11. Piper at the Gates of Dawn: A wonky psychedelic fever dreamy fairy tale album. I dig it a lot! 10. The Wall: My relationship with this album was rough but over the years I've grown to accept its more commercial sound instead of true PF sound, the lack of Rick, the few filler tracks that don't contribute to the story, how they did not use What Shall We Do Now, the crazy ending... I think I started to love the album more after I watched the film. It is an incredible album, one of the best concept albums, it does feel like their magnum opus but it's not really that Floyd-y to me. 9. A Saucerful of Secrets: Technically WYWH before WYWH. I love the balance between the goofier side and the dark chaotic spacey sound of it. 8. Obscured by Clouds: Their most underrated album that sadly had the fate to come out in between of Meddle and DSOTM. They really didn't have to go this hard for an OST to a film that no one cared about. 7. The Division Bell: I know I didn't really elaborate that much about my feelings on The Wall, but this is basically the reverse; The Wall's stronger point are the lyrics, TDB's is the music which sounds like Golden Era Floyd, but the concept and lyrics would have been much better if Roger worked on it too. Still love it a lot. 6. The Final Cut: It could be higher. Like Ummagumma, I used to hate it, I didn't get it musically at all even if it was doing exactly what it was supposed to do and I was gaslit by ignorant people who thought this was Roger whining about his daddy for the 325th time. It's much more than that, it's a better concept album than the Wall imo, Roger's voice was never for singing but for emotional delivery and he really is giving it his all here, I just miss Rick, that's my biggest problem, because to me Rick is Pink. But yeah, it actually made me cry a bit. 5. Animals: It's Animals, what can I say. Excellent concept and lyricism, fantastic music, and memed to oblivion on r/pinkfloydcirclejerk. 4. Meddle: The very first album I've ever listened to and the one to finally truly define the identity and sound of the band. 3. Atom Heart Mother: The unsung hero. While Ummagumma was the first step and Meddle the one to finally settle their sound, AHM did all the heavy lifting. Even outside the context of the band, AHM is still quite significant. It's a really bold move, especially back then, to not put any band or album info on the front cover and also make the entire A Side an entire suite. The suite is phenomenal, the middle tracks are beautiful and Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast makes me feel like I'm having a good time eating breakfast with him as if we're friends and the music is lovely there too. When I first listened to this album I had no expectations whatsoever but I immediately fell in love with it and I can even go as far as to say this can easily be my number one favorite PF album. It's just something that I can put on and it will instantly make me feel good with its wholesome atmosphere like Beach Boy's Pet Sounds, Cornilius' Fantasma, KLF's Chill Out, Boards of Canada's Campfire Headphase. I adore Atom Heart Mother, but even without my bias I think this album is very important to the history of the band and one of their best achievements. 2. Dark Side of the Moon: It really took me a long time to get this album, because I just preferred other ones over it. But when I did I finally loved it as much as everyone else. 1. Wish You Were Here: The best album I've ever listened to (but it's a tie between Radiohead's Kid A and In Rainbows, Björk's Vespertine and Caretaker's Everywhere at the End of Time, they're all equal to me). All the tracks are phenomenal and Welcome to the Machine is very underrated actually, but of course Shine On stands out. When I first listened to this track my soul ascended, it sounded so familiar (probably because it reminded me of Vangelis' Blade Runner OST which I've "watched" as a kid with my dad, for like 5 minutes before I fell asleep. I've actually watched the film in full later though, but it still didn't ruin SOYCD's magic when I realized it) yet so alien at the same time. It's not the best of all time because it's my favorite, it's my favorite because it's objectively the greatest musical composition ever. Anyway, I don't really like rankings, especially when it comes to such a great discography as PF. I also wanted to add the solo projects but it'd be way too long probably, I just think both of Rick's albums are top tier and comparable to PF's best.

I’ve always found it interesting how Final Cut is either absolutely LOVED, or absolutely HATED I LOVE it, the music is beautiful, the lyrics are beautiful, Rog’s voice is so strong here, all of it is honestly perfect for me.. yet, others will say the music is boring and repetitive, or that his voice is grating. I *guess* I can see their point, but idk, I personally love the album so much I was surprised at how low Saucerful was honestly, I really like that album but I agree the mixing is crap Solid list, though. @@jamesmatthew3681 the wall is the strongest concept album they put out. Purchased on release day!) 9. Atom Heart Mother (This album made a cameo in a Clockwork Orange in the record shop!) 8. Piper at the Gates of Dawn (Syd is incredibly talented, he deserved to be so much more.) 7. The Wall (Brilliant concept, but I prefer the Live recordings and even JT's alternative mix!) 6. Animals (Incredible album, STONE, STONE, STONE...) 5. The Division Bell (Wearing The Inside Out got me through hard times recently.) 4. Dark Side of the Moon (First Floyd record I listened to, it's genuinely perfect. Thanks Mum.) 3. Meddle (PING and whale noises make a 20 minute track brilliant!) 2. Obscured By Clouds (While not a concept album, I believe this album stands with Meddle being a keystone in the band's musical development. Very chill and easy album I love.) 1. Wish You Were Here (The fact Pink Floyd released this as the follow up to Dark Side of the Moon is just insane. My pick for greatest follow up album of all time.) I do think you have a bit of Gilmour bias, which is fine of course, and being a musician yourself it's easy to understand the appreciation you have towards Gilmour's guitar and Rick's keys. I've always been a Waters guy feeling that the lyrics and concepts is what transformed Floyd from just "a unbelievable musical group" (which, of course, they are) to transcending genres and music and cementing themselves in a way no other band has ever done. While I think we can all jam out to Zepplin or The Who or any of a number of other transformative music groups, I believe it was the Waters-inspired lyrics that has had such an impact to so many of us and been so impactful to our lives. Maybe that's why to me The Final Cut is a top 10 album, The Wall a top 2 (if not 1), and why Wish you Were Here drops significantly. But as you said so eloquently, Floyd was many things to many people, and to have everyone create the same list is impossible, but we can all agree that all 16 albums are impactful at some level.

I'm a Waters guy also and I agree with everything you said. For me The Division Bell also drops significantly. All the fans seem to love it but I don't even own it anymore. I've never seen a harsh word written about it which makes it seem overrated and not underrated as some claim. The Wall and Dark Side are tied at #1 for me.

15. The Endless River - It's in last place cuz it's the only Floyd album that doesn't really make me feel anything, other than regret that High Hopes wasn't their swan song. 14. The Final Cut - Songs like The Gunner's Dream and Not Now John are songs I return to, but the album never resonated with me as much as it did for other people. 13. More - The Nile Song is one of my favorite early Floyd songs, and Ibiza Bar and Crying Song are songs I really like. There's too much filler though. 12. A Momentary Lapse of Reason - The album could probably rank higher if the production weren't so bad, because songs like Learning to Fly and On the Turning Away are really strong. 11. Ummagumma - The live disc is pretty amazing, and the studio disc... may not be as amazing, but I like The Narrow Way - Pt. 3. 10. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn - Yeah it's pretty low, but I still really enjoy this album. Lucifer Sam has always stood out to me as being particularly amazing, but I think their other singles with Barrett, like Arnold Layne, blow this album out of the water. 9. A Saucerful of Secrets - I love this album, which I understand isn't the most common of takes. But every song works for me, and Let There Be More Light still has one of the coolest intros to any Floyd song. 8. Obscured by Clouds - Like you said, it's a soundtrack album but a lot of the songs go really hard. 7. The Division Bell - It makes me sort of sad that this isn't higher, because I do really love this album. It's a really soothing and pretty listen. 6. Atom Heart Mother - The title track is pretty insane, and side 2 is also pretty amazing. I do think Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast sort of falls apart when it's not an instrumental, but I can overlook that. 5. The Wall - The highs are really damn high, with Comfortably Numb being tied for my favorite Pink Floyd song with another one. But yeah I agree, there's a long stretch where I can get a little disconnected. 4. Meddle - Echoes is obviously a masterpiece, but all of side 1 (with the possible exception of Seamus) are songs I adore and love to relisten to. 3. Animals - Like Meddle and the two albums ahead of it, Animals is a god-tier record for me. Dogs is a masterpiece in every sense of the word, Sheep is my favorite song on the album and in my top 5 for Floyd in general, and Pigs (Three Different Ones) still holds up disturbingly well. 2. The Dark Side of the Moon - One of my favorite albums of all time, along with just being one of the best. Every song here is a masterpiece, and Us and Them is probably my favorite Pink Floyd song. Really not much to say, just one of the greatest albums ever made. 1. Wish You Were Here - It has such a sad but beautiful feeling of loss and nostalgia to it that it has to be at number 1 for me. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is probably the most emotional thing they've ever done, Welcome to the Machine and Have a Cigar are really cool, and the title track, while overplayed, is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

Animals is my absolute favorite. Has been since I was a little kid in the mid 90s. However, I would have to say that objectively, their BEST album, sonically, collectively and as a representation of what Floyd actually is has to go to Wish You Were Here.

I think it may also have something to do with where you live. I grew up in France, and out there, there seems to be an implicit agreement that FLoyd's peak is between Atom Heart Mother and Wish You Were Here (they were popular in France very early on, that's why you can find so many bootlegs from there). A friend once did me a favor, and when I asked how I could repay him, he said ¨burn some Pink Floyd albums on CD for me¨. He had them on vinyl, just wanted them on CD for his car. I asked ¨ẅhich ones do you want¨ and he said ¨well you know, the four great ones¨ and we both knew that meant Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, and With You Were Here (at least to us). My dad (born 1952) also would put those four above the rest. Flash forward to today, I've now been living in the US for 15 years and have gotten accustomed to the record culture over here, and I found it so surprising that The Wall and Animals get so much more love over here.

Dave said Atom Heart was "psychedelic noodling" and was glad to get away from it. I thought it was worthless shit WAY below their talent. But they were just starting out looking for a direction which Dave said came with Meddle.

Got into Floyd because my girlfriend at the time, 1981, had The Wall amongst her collection of MOR pop stuff. Still don't know why she had that outlier but grateful she played it for me. Loved your reviews. You made me hear things I hadn't heard in 40 years of listening to Floyd. That's the greatest gift any criticism should give. Thanks so much.

The Division Bell is still my favorite, because I have an emotional connection with it. I was around 14 years old, and that's when they released the album. Imagine a teenager watching High Hopes and Take it Back on MTV, and having friends in the classroom who also liked the band. Delicate Sound of The Thunder was the first one I listened to (On the Turning Away and Sorrow are so underrated) , but The Division Bell was the one that made me a fan.

JT have to give you a shoutout for turning me on to Meddle. Since your video on it it’s become my favorite Pink Floyd album. Echoes had been one of my favorite songs by them for a while but the rest of the album is also just so enjoyable. I don’t know what it is about it since I don’t even rank the other songs that highly in Pink Floyd’s discography. But then all together just makes for a fantastic listening experience, even Seamus…

15. Ummagumma: it’s… ok. Grantchester meadows is a nice song, and I love the live tracks. But the rest is just… okay. I feel Roger and David really shine on this album. Rick and Nicks pieces are just noise. 14. The endless river: it’s just a long droning listen, but it’s at least music. Unlike ummagumma. 13. Dark side of the moon: it’s so overrated. I don’t get into it like everyone else and it’s just the worst thing ever… put down the pitchforks, I’m kidding! The real number 13 is more. Side one is a great listen. Side 2 is just whatever. Ibiza bar and main theme are the only 2 songs on side 2 I like. 12. Momentary lapse of reason: I like most songs, but a new machine and terminal frost bring it down for me. 11. Atom heart mother: the main suite starts off well, but after breast milky, I either skip to the funk section or just turn off the song all together. The second side has my favorite pink Floyd song from the pre dark side era: summer 68. I also love if and fat old sun. Alan’s psychedelic breakfast is also underrated as hell. 10. The Final Cut: I love the title track, two suns in the sunset, and really the entire record. Except for get your filthy hands of my desert or whatever that song it called. 9. A saucerful of secrets: I’d like the album more if the studio mix was better. As an example, I love the song see saw… if only the stereo mix wasn’t as horrible as it is. It keeps panning into one ear and then into another, all off time! 8. The division bell: it pisses me off when people hate on this one. It’s way better than momentary lapse of reason, and is one of the best as a full listen. No bad songs. 7. Piper at the gates of dawn: it starts of as the greatest thing ever, and then hits a huge downgrade. Chapter 24 and bike are very good, though. 6. Animals: here’s a hot take: I don’t like the production too much. It’s a little hard on the ears. Very piercing. But the songs are so good, that I forget about that entirely. 5. Dark side of the moon: it’s classic. What more can I say? 4. Obscured by clouds: it has some of my all time favourite Floyd songs on it. I absolutely love everything except for the last song. Pretty much the same way you summed it up. 3. Meddle: echoes is the greatest song ever. Not to take away from the amazing side one, though. Everything on this album is gold, even Seamus. 2. The wall: I love every song on here. Even don’t leave me now. Amazing flow, amazing writing, and the grooves are really tight here. 1. Wish you were here: the best album ever. It is my favourite piece of music ever made and every second of the album is incredible. Nothing negative about it at all.
