You "turned" gay? How?
@thepriceofsalt90034 жыл бұрын
please don't say that you "turned gay" this supports the homphobes in their saying that kids can learn from gay couples being in public and "become" like them. you could say instead that in the end, you realised you were gay despite being raised in and surrounded by a heteronormative environment.

I can feel the sadness. The disappointment, yet the determination and pride they have. They are not afraid to speak which is difficult in a "conservative" place like Singapore. I'm so proud!

To be yourself is great and desirable. But the quote you are pointing at doesn't mean it. This line was said by Polonius in Hamlet as an advice to his son, Lartes, and wasn't a direct advice from Shakespeare. That line actually means "always put yourself first, be selfish, do things which only benefits you". It doesn't say to be true and honest to yourself. That selfish advice was given by Polonius to his son. If you were to know Polonius's character in Hamlet, I'm sure you wouldn't take a single piece of advice from him, instead you would even question your preconceived notions if he were to agree with you. In short, the meaning which you may have inferred is appreciable, but that's not the intended one. This advice is just a part of Polonius's mean and dystopian character. So quoting this line somewhere may land people in confusion. I wouldn't want that misunderstanding if I were you. So just correcting. 😊

The staff who asked the lady and her date friend to leave said kids learn. Then you teach them properly lah. Also teach them right from wrong. Cos hurling hurtful words is also wrong what. How lame. You want to talk so much you teach lah. Parents and adults are responsible for teaching kids at a young age. Might as well teach kindness and respect despite differences and differing opinions and choices.

Heartbreaking. And inspiring. I remember going to PinkDot when I still could - no I'm not allowed to. But I'll always support brave and beautiful people standing up for their right - to live and love how and who they want. Kudos.

The reality of how badly some religious people behave is contrasted against the love that comes from the Pink Dot Movement. The truth has put me off from my former religion. I am now a supporter of the LGBT Community...may you all find strength to weather the bad that comes your way.

While watching this I nearly cried tbh as I’m a Demi boy (an afab as well) and a bisexual who is closeted and my parents are very much against such things especially as they are Singaporeans as well so I face dysphoria in school and sometimes on a daily basis as I want to be referred to as either Geo or Karl but people in my community were unwilling and keep dead naming me now as I am writing this comment as well…but I’m also really to happy hear that there are others who face this issue too and I’m not alone in this

May Singapore join the rest of the developed world and 1) decriminalize all LGBTQ people by dismantling all applicable criminal laws; 2) protect LGBTQ civil rights by legislation; and 3) pass laws requiring judges to be forbidden from anti-LGBTQ bias at sentencing. Until Singapore makes such revisions, less foreigners from the developed free world will visit your beautiful country.

i think if people in this group wants to gain acceptance then they need to do something positive to the society cos there was a US army transman that earn my respect, life was not easy for him to be in the US army but he gained the trust and respect of those guys cos instead of whopping in self-pity, he concentrate to prove his worth and that changed my view, he does not partake in any Pinkdot or Pride Parade cos he feel that if a person want to be accepted then showcase what you can contribut to the society. Discriminations is everywhere so shine your own light so that people will see you in different light. There is a Chinese saying, it goes like, a person that keep seeking showing how sad , how..... will also drew the irritation and annoyance of other people. Look what you can bring to the table and gradually people will not talk down or hurt you anymore and even if they do, do you need such people in your life, you have a choice to ignore them. Right !
