The epilogue “The Last Problem” was okay. I have some issues with it but they’re mostly aesthetic, RE: I dislike the giraffe design for older Princess Twilight, and I think Luster Dawn should have been _literally anything_ other than a unicorn. But those are minor gripes. But the finale? “The Ending of the End”? That was the most morally repugnant thing I’ve ever seen in a TV show meant for kids. At no point do the Mane-6 even _try_ to help the villains become better people. Not once do they hold out a hoof and say “you don’t have to do this, you can be better”. Nope, just beat the crap out of them, and then functionally execute them. And that’s not even getting into how what Discord did to the Trio was straight-up abusive and outright evil. Beautiful finale? No. Friendship is Magic died in a fire that it lit itself.

I hope some day Hasbro can make a chapter or generation that ... without TRYING to be anything in the past or trying to be something else, just tries to be an amazing show - has people behind it who are great writers and storytellers, who plan the crap out of things, who can incorporate their own experiences with the franchise into things, and have the creative freedom (and as little corporate meddling as possible) to allow that creativity to flourish. Because I firmly believe that this is a huge piece of what made Friendship is Magic so magical, so widely appealing, and for a fandom to grow and thrive around it.

@DanknDerpyGamer can honestly definitely say growing up refused to watch it; between trademarked for girls and well how bad a guy would be harassed in school or possible family problems. Actually just watched fan stuff over the years after highschool. Then life got really dark and depressing to point I felt like giving up. Decided to say heck with it about year or less ago or something and can definitely honestly say for a fact that MLP Gen 4 has helped immensely. The one wholesome that actually helped until the cringe epilogue (many reasons) then fell back into depression. Shortly after like week or so found the hour specials and the mini series of the memory book and then I decided to get into Equestria Girls. Gen 4 deserves so much more

Well, Gen 4 wasn't actually "cancelled". Rather, it ended, since it had to come to a conclusion. Shows that are cancelled never got a chance to reach a conclusive arc. I understand that it can be sad when a show officially ends. But MLP did manage to last a lot longer than Hasbro anticipated, so there's that.
