I'm starting to wonder about the trauma of each pony. Pinkie Pie: depression runs through her family so she's always been forced to wear a mask of happiness Twilight Sparkle: she's always been a star student and so she now sets high expectations for herself because of how she was raised Apple Jack: she's basically been neglected by her family her whole life and now has the idea that she has to do it herself and that she doesn't need help and that help makes you weak Rarity: her family never had a lot of money or was successful in any big way so she believes she needs to be higher class in order to be truly happy Rainbow Dash: has always been told she can't do anything good enough so she now has a hard time accepting anything less than being number one Fluttershy: has always been bullied and made fun of, made to feel like she isn't good enough or isn't worthy of much which is why she has a hard time making friends and speaking up about how she feels, leaving her to essentially hide and internalize her feelings instead of speaking out about it. And now has a form of reactive attachment disorder.

Theory; So in this song pinkie pie is talking about a fire that burned her home town down and her parents died in the fire, so she was shipped to an orphanage. “Ditch those roots if you wanna fit in.” Ponies were upset about her culture so she followed theirs. On the rock farm where she lived she was about 5? Or 6 so this means she was really young when the whole ‘thing’ ocurred. Concluding Sentence; Pinkie pie is not really but kind of forcing herself to be happy while inside she was depressed. Then shes talking about how she doesn’t remember her true parents. (Also it feels like her parents predicted their death if they sang this to her.) (Also side note: When she said “So children stop your crying” this means she doesn’t want her friends to feel the same depression.
@cookiehasknifesandspoonsbu3422 жыл бұрын
I like this interpretation but this isn’t actually what happened because this song was fanmade before her rock farm past was released canonically, the two aren’t connected

So, sad story time. A really close friend of mine used to sing this to me after my house burnt down to cheer me up. About two weeks ago I heard she shot her self, and they played this song at her funeral. Now that I'm hearing this song again, all I can hear is kaylas voice. I don't know if I'm crying happy tears or sad tears. Oh well. Point of the story: if you're depressed or contemplating suicide, fucking don't. Man, please don't. You may think that no one cares, but you're wrong. Dead wrong. Always smile, and sing along to any song that makes you happy. Life sucks ass. Always has and always will. But it will get better if you make it. :) Always smile. :D I love you all, and I hope you all have a wonderful day/night. Cheers all.

This song reminds me of my own life. When I was 4 years old, my house caught on fire, taking my parents and siblings with it. I was in an abusive orphanage for two years, where in the process of living there, we were fed once a day, I was forced to cut my wrist, I watched a ten year old commit suicide, and the dog there got fed more often than we did. But now im with my loving adoptive family.

Yes gypsy can be used as a slur if used negatively and also gypsy is a race/Ethnicity. If I've gotten anything wrong please correct me.^^

Don't forget others like gypsy moths. There's a decent amount of species variations that have gypsy in their names. Though I cannot confirm anything else you've said is wrong due to not having done much research at all, I do find the drama a bit frivolous.

What I get from this song is: Pinkie pie had spiritual witchy beginnings and her village was set ablaze. She survived and she was brought to a orphanage. They told her to leave her past back and buried her past in a thousand holes as in her village. She ‘cut a rug with orphan foals’ as in she danced away her past trying to fit in with the others. She saw her parents get mangled and made a song for them but her memories are obscured and can’t remember much

the line "you're a toy maker's creation trapped inside a crystal ball" has been stuck in my head for years.........and somehow it took me until the age of 21 to realize she is breaking the 4th wall in the most ominous way possible

Meaning of some lyrics: “ A galloping blaze overtook my city “ Her home was set on fire “ Ditch those roots if u wanna fit in “ Forget about your past if u wanna fit in “ And so i dug one thousand holes, and cut a rug with orphan foals “ She dug holes and for the orphans that died she buried them. “ and your loved ones have been mangled “ Her parents died in the fire.
You can hear the tambourine better if you speed it up to 2x

When your rife with devastation, There's a simple explanation: You're a toymaker's creation Trapped inside a crystal ball. And whichever way he tilts it, Know that we will stay resilient. We won't let them break our spirits As we sing our silly song! When I was a little filly, A galloping blaze overtook my city. So they shipped me off to the orphanage, Said, "Ditch those roots if you wanna fit in." So I dug one thousand holes, And cut a rug with orphan foals. Now memories are blurred, And their faces are obscured, But I still know the words to this song. When you've bungled all your bangles, And you loved ones have been mangled, Listen to the jingle jangle of my gypsy tambourine. Cause these chords are hypnotizing, And the whole world's harmonizing. So please children stop your crying And just sing along with me!

To clear something up, the word g*psy in this context is not a slur in the definition that this song is using it basically just describes people that live in traveling homes. - this song is not from the actual show it's from a parody of MLP called Friendship is Witchcraft so this is not apart of actual Pinkie Pie's backstory. - the term "Cut a rug" does not mean killing and stuff it means dancing ya'll been reading to many Pinkamena stories. Thats all I just wanted to clear stuff up about this song that I seen alot of people in the comment section talking about thats *really* bugging me.

the actual theory behind the song is how pinkie pie used to be either a slave or didnt have a bery good life- idk if this is 100% correct but the g-word in the title of this song is actually a slur for those who have been set free from being slaves or those who had a horrible life. like how pinkie pie was an orphan and had to follow this mans instructions until she was finally adopted. so the song setting is where pinkie pie sings about her past so children who have also been set free. she tries to cheer up the kids im guessing to continue in life. (im so sorry if im off but this is just my own theory, i read a little bit about the g-word slur and made some guesses. correct me if im wrong.)

This reminds me of an OC of mine in a little story of mine Like this could basically explain her entire thing She litteraly said "I can't remember a lot of the people I met, but I do remember the things they told me" The reason she is happy and upbeat is because, as is common in real life, her brain forgot her trauma to protect herself
