What a lovely fun, sweet tearful episode yes all that in one! Great voice acting and animation by Missbunni and Crowne! Awesome message by you too Doc! I admit, when I first spoke with you and especially at NN con, being shy as I am at first, and meeting you for the first time. With the way you spoke I interpert it as 'shyness' and depending on the first impression for me tends to dictate how I'll will first react to that person I meet. So what I thought was 'shyness' made me feel 'awkward and shy' as well but thats just how I viewed it. That's what I love about Pinkie though, she just be who she is no matter if its a new pony or not, she's happy to meet new ponies and interact with them how she is. I wish I were more confident like she is. I'm constantly worried about how I show myself to others and often ask myself "am I being too over the top?" or "I apologize for my language" etc al the time. I like to make sure I'm not hurting others either. So awesome message. We learn from our mistakes but don't stop trying to be yourself too ^^

Very heart-warming. Brought a tear to my eye. Pinkie's very well-written and acted, and the advice is solid. What adds to this and makes it even more special is the Doctor tells her that this may be a problem she never gets over, but just by being herself she's doing a lot of good and is liable to continue to do a lot of good, and that alone can trump any shortcomings. I've a similar problem and it's taken me over twenty years to get where I am in terms of being able to read others emotions, and even now I sometimes am afraid that I can be annoying or obnoxious. Anxiety meds seem to blur the line even more, though I care less, so my observation is I'm being more annoying but care less about it. If I were naturally extroverted as Pinkie, as wonderful as a gift as that would be, it could be detrimental because she has a tendency to express her thoughts through actions and words, sometimes exuberantly... which means she doesn't always think things through, though the intention is genuinely good. Wow, just wow...
@numbuh00049 жыл бұрын
Well it's pretty apparent that you can't please everybody with who you are (inside and outside). But it's mighty respectable for people who strive to at least try. It was so awesome to see someone like Pinkie finally have AMWDW.

Another excellent Moment, with great voice acting. It's great to see the fandom's talents blossoming like this. I enjoyed Crowne Prince's animation style, and the switch between fluid and static. Pinkie's bouncy way of lying was especially fitting. And there is always a gold nugget in these sessions. I am also one of those who needs the occasional moment alone to recharge when I have been overwhelmed by crowds and social situations. I also believe that, given her Moment with you, Mage would enjoy this depiction of Pinkie.

There is literally a connection with me and Pinkie in this. I enjoy making people smile, or making them happy. It makes me feel good, as if I have a purpose in life, but sometimes, I feel like I'm just annoying the person I'm trying to make laugh, and I get really worried that I'm not a good friend sometimes. It is also said that Pinkie pretty much learns after she has made the mistake. For me, this is the same thing. I never really encounter the same area to make the mistake, or not to make the mistake again, so it's just something new every time. This video doesn't _exactly_ have my problem, but there are several things in this that will most likely help me with my small issue. So uh... Thanks, I guess. c:

THANK YOU! You are the first person who actually portrays her problems properly without turning her into a headcase. A lot of people read FAR too much into her character and like to turn her into 'bi-polar" pony or make her mentally unstable to the point where she's actually become a straight up monstrous villain in some fan works *cough*cupcakessmilehdfivenightsatpinkie's*cough*, which simply isn't her. Yes, she makes mistakes and can often be thoughtless and impulsive, but that just makes her more realistic...not crazy or mentally unstable. A lot of people are like that where they act first and think later. It's a matter of self control and some people struggle to learn that more than others and although it may be hard to learn to overcome those kinds of obstacles, it doesn't mean that the situation is hopeless. It just means that, having worked on something so hard, they can be all the more proud, once they overcome them. It's for that reason, that I really appreciate the way you portrayed her here. It was accurate without destroying her as a character. I applaud you on this particular episode, Dr Wolf, Well done sir. Well done. :)

This is already my favorite Mane 6 visit, and we're only halfway through them! I knew I'd love Pinkie's right from the get go, and it's a plight I relate to all to often, being very much like Pinkie myself. This also gets into Pinkie's antics in Filli Vanilli flawlessly, something that has caused her to lose popularity among the fans. Once a character makes Fluttershy cry, they sadly never live it down. I was mostly just upset with the writers when that happened, but I like this video's take on what Pinkie might have been thinking when she did what she did. I understand and connect with the notion of not realizing when one is going too far, and the difficulty one may have with understanding others' feelings. I want to give this video a huge "THANK YOU" for tackling this. And that ending...good goodness. TwT

The way you were able to transition Pinkie's visit into a therapy session was quite impressive. It worked so naturally without feeling forced in the least. The problem Pinkie has in which you discuss is one I am still working on. This being how I am very enthusiastic towards things that are of interest to me in which I really want to share with others. Since my degenerative eye condition keeps me from noticing Non-Verbal Cues I'd often fail to notice my enthusiasm was not as well received as what I'd gather from the inflection of the individual(s) I'd be sharing my thoughts and feelings with. This has gotten me into tons of trouble. Fortunately, my wife is very open and honest and has taken the time to help better educate me on how to "Dial it Down" or use a probing question before I start going all Pinkie Pie on someone. So you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned how a character like Pinkie could struggle with her utilization of her special talent for the rest of her life. I know I will since I aspire to be more than a guy with a misunderstood disability who is socially awkward to no end. I'm often so desperate for people to care about me or get involved with other people for the sake of feeling important or appreciated that I truly do more harm than good. I'm going to add this to the "Dr. Wolf" folder I have associated with "Coping with Disabilities through Pony". I know it will relate and help more than just myself. Thanks for your efforts, Dr. Wolf. You truly do a lot of good with what you do. And, even if it never gets you where you'd like to be, I hope you can take heart in knowing you are positively impacting a lot of people who may not have anyone or anything they can relate with until you came along to show they can be understood.

Greetings Doc, I had to give some input on this video because you are without a doubt my favorite KZbinr in this fandom, as well as someone I really look up to. I appreciate this video more than you could imagine, as I have always had a similar struggle. While unlike Pinkie, I've never had the ability to make friends with so many people, I still try my best to keep the friends that I do have happy. However, often times I say the wrong things, or I act in a manner that wasn't appropriate for the situation. Sometimes, I've made things worse and felt horrible because of it. All because many times, I'm unable to tell how people are feeling, or because I take a method of help that isn't what they want or need. Your advice is very solid, and you have presented this in a way where people like myself could understand and completely relate to the situation. I appreciate all the work you've done, and I look forward to what you can do in the future to help others. You're a great man Doc, thank you for making this series, and thank you for always being there to help others.

Nalla Gnahz The Tree of Environmental Ethics is possibly the idealistics of "being a tree," or a structure of complete order and control. You see, the trunk is the strength of moral and physical powers. The leaves are to symbolize change, as they change color through out the season. The roots are the mental stability and moral restraint that a person goes through. So, I want to be a Tree Environmental Ethics is probably a philosphy made for people who want to be "morally correct." That, or it's just a book about saving the envirment. Being the setting though.....

Alexander Washington Really good take ^^ I like the tree metaphor. But the book may also be reference to the fact that in Over A Barrel, Fluttershy says she'd like to be a tree.

Sooo... it's been a whole day since I made my other post, and some buddies of mine spotted some errors here that I missed. It seems like Pinkie here forgot the lesson from Friend in Deed. In that episode she learned to accept ponies preferring alone time, but here she seems baffled at the very concept of someone being like that. Additionally, Pinkie treats her special talent/cutie mark like some activity to be performed, which is poor wording, since the key to acquiring a cutie mark is finding out what you love. Pinkie's cutie mark represents her love of making ponies smile, not an ability of it. The video also took out of context Pinkie in Pinkie Pride, Filli Vanilli, and Maud Pie. It re-contextualized those episodes to fit with Pinkie's conflict in the video. It's nice to get examples, but I recommend against something like this.

***** I agree with what you said, but I do think there are differences in this DrWolf video. I agree, there should be baby steps, but I think this interpretation is far too small of a step with everything that Pinkie has gone through. Every episode still affects the characters. After my earlier conversation with my buddies, I've come to think the step taken in this video was too small. Additionally, I think you're whole point on cutie marks is completely reasonable. However, the problem my buddies and me have is one of semantics. The way Pinkie describes what's going on here could use some improvement. The usage of the word "works" is a biggie. She said stuff like "most of the time it works really really well, but when it doesn't work, it really doesn't work. And it makes me feel like I'm bungling on my own special talent." The way this sounds, the cutie mark is sorta an ability that "most of the time" "works really really well," but when the cutie mark doesn't "work," "it really doesn't work." I hope that example makes sense. Please tell me what you think when you have a chance.

***** For your first response, I have a rather simple thing to say. I'm not sure you really addressed the specific thing in question. I find myself yet again agreeing with you, because you're comment is too general as is. Specifically, the problem there is with how those scenes that she referenced are referenced. They're referenced it in way that takes the episode out of context and Pinkie seems to be taking too little a step. I haven't addressed any of the specifics yet, but I'm not sure if you're interested in getting that nitty gritty. As for the semantics piece, we interpreted it differently is the best I can gather. Your argument for why to interpret it as so is good, but I still think better wording should have been used. (P.S. I very much agree with the RD example. I see what you did there with "reinterpret." I think were in agreement there. I think RD's current view of it is already that general broad view. Still, she very much would be depressed in that scenario and it would take time to find a new life balance.) To round up this conversation, understand that I'm less passionate about this argument than it might seem. My buddies sufficiently argued for me to have it. My reaction to it was sorta like this... "Oh.. yeah, I can see that. Still enjoyed it, but I can see that." I still think this AMWDW was a cut above the rest, but I acknowledge there were some things I originally didn't think, which I now do. It makes this video less impressive in my eyes, but it's still a great video nonetheless.

Man you guys really don't pinkie do you? Because even if this video made good point you still complain

***** So, this video made mistakes in the following ways. 1. (a) In Friend in Deed, she learns that some friends don't want to be bothered in that manner. We saw her in the DrWolf Anniversary. So, it's odd that she was so surprised by something like that with DrWolf. (b) Then her jumpy-ness in the very beginning seemed very unusual, we haven't seen anything close to that level in her character ever I'd argue. As things have moved forward, I can't think of time that she was ever like that. Even in Friend in Deed. 2. (a) Her feeling of inadequacy to Cheese Sandwich in Pinkie Pride is what caused her to lose her empathy. She focused more on winning to Cheese than helping Rainbow Dash, and thus lost sight of Rainbow Dash's feelings. This was an important layer to her empathy failure in that episode. It shouldn't simply be ignored. (b) In every scenario, her empathy still has reasons for why it's bad. I feel like those distinct reasons for empathy loss were overlooked. It's more than a mere lack of empathy. It's a lack of empathy when certain factors are present. 3. (a) Pinkie stated in Filli Vanilli "But I'm so good at it." That was her response to Rarity saying "stop being ridiculous." So, I think it was more her being silly for the sake of being silly. (b) Then we have to consider the facial expressions that the other character gave off. Fluttershy wasn't balling out in cries the first time in Filli Vanilli. It wasn't this clear cut thing of "empathy" problems, but empathy problems at that certain point. There shouldn't of been an acknowledgement that her empathy issues were more complex. (c) Pinkie didn't get a clue about Fluttershy's sadness in later portion of Filli Vanilli, until after Fluttershy ran out crying and her statements on what happened at that point in time were merely retelling what happened in a poor tone. Telling someone how they overcame their problem can actually make them happier, but the way Pinkie's tone was it had the opposite effect. So, more specifically, you could say the problem is with Pinkie's tone in particular instances, not the words she says. I wish this level of nuance was included. This is what actual analysis is, it's break down of what happened. This video moreover did a simplification. 4. (a) Pinkie in Maud Pie was in a much different scenario than merely empathy failure. It was more like prediction failure. The mane6 interacted with Maud on an individual basis and were trying to keep the issue hidden. There was no way Pinkie could have known there was a problem until after being told. So, all you can blame her on there is that she poorly predicted what would happen. (b) To say the Maud Pie incident was related to Pinkie's empathy issues is a HUGE jump. Many many individuals in that scenario would have trouble detecting the mane6's emotions. Detecting what someone is trying to show you via facial expressions is one type of empathy. Trying to detect something in someone's facial expressions that their trying to hide is a completely different type of empathy. One is commonly referred to as empathy and the other is usually referred to as lie detecting. As for the poor wording, I didn't trip up on that. However, my buddies did and I don't fault them for not seeing it, The wording could have been SIGNIFICANTLY better. We can just simply blame those people for not getting it or we can grant that the wording could have been better. I do the latter. I think simply labeling those individuals as "petty" is unfair. Should they have gotten it? Maybe, but the fact of the matter still remains that they didn't. And if someone like DrWolf wants to make sense to a larger audience of people, then he should know where some wording failed in translation. There's always improvements to be made in what we say. If one cares about a failure in their wording, then I think I should tell them when failures occur. I think DrWolf cares a lot about this, so I brought up the critique. It's a minor a critique, but a critique that should be heard nonetheless. I hope these statements clear things up.

I know there's little chance of you seeing this, Doctor, amongst the mass of comments you get, but I just thought I'd say that as an aspiring career counselor, I definitely look up to you and your ability to connect with people and help them see the good in what would otherwise be seen as a very negative situation in their life. While I don't think I'll be taking quite the same approach as you seem to, your advice to others is always wonderfully thought out, even when it's off the top of your head like in the live AMWDW anniversary special, and I always take parts, if not all, of the advice you give people in this series for future reference. You're an amazing individual, Dr. Wolf, and you are a perfect addition to this amazing fandom. Thank you for all that you do!

So cute 😭💙 I know I just commented like a whole chapter on the Fluttershy session, but I can't help myself! I actually felt very understanding with /you/ this time. I'm an introvert too, and may be confronted now and then by extroverts like PinkiePie who just love people and making friends. I do like PinkiePie, but she does tend to be overbearing. It's really helpful to me to be able to see into her mind; that she doesn't burst bubbles on purpose. She just wants to make everypony smile! And I really admire your response too. So happy to have found your channel! Maybe we'll meet at Bronycon someday☺️
