I'm smiling the whole time watching this, as well as realizing that I too take critics rather hard these days. Normally I keep them to myself but lately I find myself venting to friends and even family when I feel like the critizism isn't...being helpful but rather hurtful. I am trying to learn the difference between hurtful and actual constructive critizism, but it is still difficult. Especially when viewers tend to lack the understanding of my everyday scheduel and priorities. But still, it's a process I'll have to continue to work at and glad I can kinda relate to Rarity even more now then I did previously. Thanks for sharing! Nice work from Crowne Princes on the animation, it was lovely, and nice acting by MissBunniSwan too ^^

This is easily the best "Moment With DRWolf" episode yet and Missbunniswan's Rarity voice is spot-on with Tabitha St. Germain's! Like what Rarity described, the way that I accept criticism can really make me lose what drives me to make videos in the first place because...despite the amount of effort and passion that I put into my videos and content on KZbin, there are still people out there who purposely hate on my videos to point out every little flaw that each of my videos have. But I just shrug it off and realize that you can't please everyone since they're not gonna stop me from doing what I do best.

This couldn't have arrived at a better time for me. I think both myself, and pretty much every creative artist in the fandom, can relate to Rarity here. I always find it to be a bit of a paradox of how artist are people most in tune with their sensitivity while they still have to endure harsh words at something they've created with very serious effort. It's come to my belief that Rarity has to understand that being an artist is never something you master doing; instead it's something that you never stop learning from and applying to your craft. This is why professional singers still take voice lessons, actors still take acting classes, painters pursue higher education, etc. Criticism never ends, and it can be extremely difficult to find the suggestions for improvement in harsh words and something that goes against your image, but I have a feeling it's always going to be there. What I'm also starting to remember is that while it's inevitable for people to not like someone's work, there will still always be people who enjoy it and stick by the artist. I remember a few weeks ago when I posted about my problem on your page, and I can tell that Rarity and I are pretty much parallels when it comes to this subject. After watching this video I think I can now see that a lot of my own work has improved from every bit of criticism I receive, even from those who may not have been as encouraging. I think this is also going to be a bit of a motivational video for me whenever I feel like this. I can also think of a grande number of people on sites such as FIMFiction and Deviantart that can also benefit. Thank you once again, DR. Wolf, for not only your wonderful thoughts, but also your sympathy for the artistic community in the Brony fandom.

You really touched on what a lot of artist friends I know go through. Particularly those who do trades and commissions.We all have a "Vision" for how something should be. However, depending on who you are doing a project for and/or with, the flexibility to "Meet-in-the-Middle" can be truly difficult. This can lead to negative self-critique coupled with an implicit fear that what you do may never be enough to satisfy those you thought your talents were perfect for.What I took away from this session was how truly important open and continued communication is when participating in any sort of project. The more we positively involve ourselves the better we are in position to give positive feedback that benefits everyone involved in bringing something together. This is why, with "Coping with Limitations, I try to do multiple iterations of the presentation plan. The more involved you get everyone to feel excited and open about a project, the more inclined they will be to provide input prior to the proverbial "Eleventh Hour". It is also easier to make changes early on in project development than to try and make repairs long after some things you thought were set in stone need to be torn down to adapt to change that could've been avoided if more open communication / critique were exercised.

I make suggest a change here and there once I see the sketch, but all in all I let them do their thing. I have even offered a few times they surprise me, with me just offering my OCs and let them have inspiration take them as it will.

I'm normally the type of person that watches and not comment, since I'm a tad shy. But I had to do it here. I believe this to be very true for anyone accepting criticism. I know I an one of the worst in accepting it, although I have gotten better, and this does hit home. But in a good way. Learning to think objectively instead of personally. It's never easy, but it's worth hearing it to improve.

I have to say, that Rarity's voice was spot on! I could almost close my eyes and imagine Tabitha herself. As for the content of the video, I rather liked it. I speak from experience when I say that an artist is often their own worst torturer. It's not easy to keep perspective when someone criticizes something into which you've poured your heart and soul, especially when that someone is the artist himself. The only reason I even still have my old drawings and stories is because I promised myself that I would keep them, just to remind myself how far I've come.
