Me too!!! It adds so much more to the experience for us as well as for you. Listening to it first before reacting I think, gives you so much greater an understanding of the music as a whole piece and not just a part of it. Thanks for doing this!!!!!

When this first came out in 1967 as a progressive rock song, they were very young. This performance has got to be 20 years later - just a guess. Great song to react to. Yes, the long version is great & just a little longer! Nice reaction😊❤❤❤

I discovered them in 1974 when I was 18 in the Army. I've seen them 5 times in concert and lucky to have seen them with a full philharmonic orchestra twice. to this day I consider the 2001 concert at the Paul Masson Winery in California by just the bare band and the single most greatest concert I have ever been too out of near 40 or so by many bands. 2000 seat arena and everyone singing every word to every song. An 80 year old to my left and a young teenager to my wife's right. We all sang. Ushers dancing in the isles. Their music crossed Generations.

Lovely piece of music played by real musicians. Glad you enjoyed it. This group started out in the 1960's. You can check out some of their early albums - In Search of The Lost Chord, On The Threshold of A Dream, To Our Childrens Childrens Children, A Question of Balance.

You might want to listen to the entire lp, Days of Future Past, cuz it's a "concept" lp, in that each song is related to the other tracks on the album! Nights in White is actually the climax of the album...

In the 80's when I was a kid, I use to browse my fathers vinyl collection just to watch those cool covers. Because the imaginative covers of Moody Blues were the most interesting to me I wanted try to listen to them too when I was about 10 years old. My favourite albums were In Search of the Lost Chord (1968), On the Threshold of a Dream (1969), Every Good Boy Deserves Favour (1971) and Long Distance Voyager (1981). Now I am over 40 years old and I my taste in music has developed a bit since then (easier to list what type of music I don't listen, like country and reggaeton) and some bands of my teenage I have practically abandoned completely (or in the case of Metallica I think they abandoned me during the Napster case) but Moody Blues just doesn't wear out. I just still love it just as much as I did when I was a child. That is why I think music of Moody Blues stands the test of time.

I was born two months after this song was released. And my mom told me that she used to rock me. In a rocking chair. To this song to go to sleep. And my dad a few months later went to Vietnam. And came back. And I played this, with my children. And my grandkids now. And it is the ultimate Wedding song for the first dance. The long version is on the Days of Future Passed.

They had quite a few songs that made the popular charts but they were known as an album band - meaning that although many songs were picked off albums as singles, their albums were meant to be listened to in their entirety and there was a flow to the album that would be lost if just listening to a single song.

They still sound good at their older age, doing this. OMG. I've always loved really good symphonic rock. The album sounds like this. The concert is not an inflation of what was originally done. Your assessment is perceptive and spot on. Here is a link to another "symphonic rock" song from roughly that era: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqe6o3mnr5uIm7M "White Bird" by It's A Beautiful Day touches me in the same place that Nights In White Satin does. Enjoy. Grandma Ellen, letting herself out. PS (Thinking of you and thought you might like this, also: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmrHeHZumcpjeaM

Also, other great moody Blues songs to react to are: New Horizons, Question, The Story In Your Eyes, It's Up To You and Tuesday Afternoon. Just to name a few.

I bought there first album on LP when it first came out. And every one since. Saw them live at Indianapolis, not sure of the year now, but can look it up. Just almost as good then though a rain and windstorm at this outdoor theater messed with us and we all had to take cover for a bit. They came back of and did a great job. Then about 25 years ago, I converted all my CDs (bought them too) to MP3, and they are on my phone, PC, in my car, etc. I never get over this great music. Also a fan of Dire Straits (Mark Knopfler), Santana, and more. Also, I think Justin wrote this song when he was like, 18 or so. A forever song.

I saw the Moody Blues in my city in 1983. Opening for them was Stevie Ray Vaughan. I only knew SRV from MTV and no idea he was the master of the Stratocaster... all I knew is that I was there for some Nights in White Satin, so I was there saying " ok get him on get him off." I weep even today thinking how I saw Stevie live in person and didn't know enough to appreciate him 😟😎🎸
