“You make it your wedding song.” When my daughter was 10 years old we were listening to the BeeGees’Too Much Heaven’ in the car. My daughter said, “Dad would you dance this song with me at my wedding?” “Absolutely” I told her. 20 years later on 12/31/19, I fulfilled that promise to her at her wedding when she & I danced to this beautiful song.

It’s pretty cool to see the younger generations taking the initiative to explore music that was before their time. Another testament to the timelessness of music. It gets better when you can understand the era in to the music from which it was created. The world was much different then - less politically polarized and people actually engaged in conversations. People didn’t define themselves politically and put up barriers if another persons political views were different from their own. It was a time of discovery through a more broad lens of love that was more important than politics. The music of the 70s defined America at the time it was healing from the Vietnam war.

@letitrest46622 жыл бұрын
Julie, I wrote this to the young woman who has this channel, but then read the comments and saw yours. I was 18..... I was a young man of 18 when that song came out. My first girlfriend and I were so in love. Even today at the age of 61, I remember her face and eyes, as if I'd just seen her. We celebrated the fourth of July together, at my home town's park fireworks in 1978. We had a blanket spread out in the grass, on the ground and enjoyed our time together, but after the fireworks ended, which was about 10 p.m. we stayed. I'd brought a small radio along. There's wasn't a cloud in the sky. We laid there in each others arms, talking and kissing, and just being a couple. We were there till 1 a.m. The park police drove by a few times, and never approached us. I think maybe they realized that this was a magic time for the two of us. Then this song came on, and at that moment we were both taken by it's beauty and truth. We'd each heard it numerous times, but were taken by it and both of us teared up. I'll never forget the Bee Gees music, or my first love, Katy. To this day, when I hear, either, Too Much Heaven, or especially How Deep Is Your Love, I'm taken back to her and my memories of my first love Katy. The Bee Gees, Billy Joel(Just The Way You Are), Air Supply........ They taught me what is, and the beauty of, romantic love. I still tear up at times when I hear their beautiful loves songs. I truly mean this...... I hope you experience the same. Love doesn't have to be wasted on youth. It's the romance and feeling of having someone that reaches and touches your soul, that's important. God Bless.

@@letitrest4662 what a lovely story! I can't say I ever had an "our song" with any of my boyfriends, and my husband is 4 years younger than I and from England. He's into house, trance and rave music, while I'm into classic rock and blues. 😂 We're teaching each other about our musical tastes. When I first met him, I sang "Come Sail Away" to him, and when he came to live with me in the States, we went to a Styx concert. He builds synths, so he enjoyed the synth in their music and had a great time at the concert. He also actually likes some disco. The Bee Gees (among the most successful groups of all time) wrote & released Too Much Heaven in 1978. It was climbing charts world wide (already #1 in US & Canada, #3 in UK) before the Jan 1979 fundraiser, “Music for UNICEF.” They then donated, in perpetuity, ALL their royalties, not just from the UNICEF event, merch & compilation album (as the other bands did, though some just for a limited time), but also their publishing rights. So, UNICEF continues to get paid, from anyone’s version & any use (including in movies, TV, commercials, etc). As the 1st band to make such a donation to charity, they were recognized for it by UN Secretary General, Kurt Waldheim & invited to the White House by President Carter. The last official tally I saw was 2011, saying UNICEF had received more than 10 million British pounds from it, for emergency food & healthcare. I’ve seen others post it hit 20 million as of 2019, but I haven’t found an official source for that.

The BEE GEES, wow. I remember Saturday night fever very well also, they rocked it in the mid, to late 70's, during the big disco era, sadly we lost robin and Maurice Gibb, only Barry Gibb, is alive. What a iconic group, we were blessed with. There music will live on for ever, for the new generation to hopefully enjoy.

‘A warm hug’ - what a great description of the BeeGees!!! They have @45 years of music so you have plenty of time to catch up. Although I bet you’ve heard “Staying Alive” and just didn’t know it was them. Harmonies are always great. Subscribed for more BeeGees!!

It is a blessing to see and hear your reaction to this phenomenal band. I was crying just because they were just the best in everything they put out. There won’t be another Bee Gees. I miss them and the 70s music sooo much. Glad you are experiencing them, they are like no other 💖

I was 7 when this song came out. Brings back great beautiful childhood memories. GORGEOUS SONG from the awesome BEE GEES!!! And you, young lady... you get it! I love how you actually saw the beautiful elements of this musical piece from 40 years before you were born. You have that brilliant musical taste. I appreciate you!

NOW THATS A REACTION!! Let me tell ya what I seen, first what the hell how can this be, emotions kick in and melts that heart, cause of you not hearing something like this before, then the high notes kick in and them chills started climbing up that arm and down your spine. Lol! That's how you know a great song has alot of power of love. AND YOU MY FRIEND FELT ALOT ALL AT ONCE. Awesome reaction girl. Very honest and heart felt.

I loved them back in the day and wore out their Saturday Night Fever album. Its good to see you young guys discovering the singers from the past. The 2 backups are his baby brothers that are actually twins. There was another one that was the youngest that looked exactly like the lead singer that did a record but died from myocarditis from years of cocaine use. He had talent as well.

Just found you when doing my daily, or twice daily, Bee gees search. Wonderful, honest reaction. You can't fake the impact this group has on you the first time. They are legends, icons, just perfection in harmony. Just subscribed and can't wait to hear more. To Love Somebody is one of their earlier (1967) greats, or You Win Again from 20 years later. Most Bee Gees songs have amazing harmonies on record and live so there is a huge rabbit hole of tracks from the 60s to 2001. Fabulous early songs include Massachusetts, To Love Somebody, New York Mining Disaster then the 70s disco/ soul with Night Fever, Stayin Alive, Tragedy, You Should be Dancing, How Deep is Your Love. 1980s with You Win Again and 90s with Secret Love, For Whom the Bells Toll plus many, many others. They wrote all their own music plus songs for others.

I was born in 1970...and I remember the Bee Gees growing up later on. I can see the tears in your eyes. The harmony that they have is undeniably beautiful and mind-blowing. The lyrics are beautiful--and I have been a fan of theirs for years. Their voices will forever be missed. Barry (the oldest and the lead singer) is the only surviving member of the group. They are timeless and one of my favorite groups ever!

Hello beautiful, I love this song, the way Barry (man in the middle singing) reaches those high notes. Could you play these songs by the Bee Gees? Love You Inside Out, Love So Right, Wish You Were Here, One! The Bee Gees wrote all of their own hits, the Bee Gees have sold over 120 million albums all over the world. Top 40 hits, fifteen Top 10's, and 9 number ones!🧔

The reason The Bee Gees sound so good together is because they are brothers. Related family members can often sound much tighter in their harmonies than musical groups who are unrelated. It’s literally in their DNA.

@@GK-yi4xv They came apart because of the whole "burn disco" craze that was started by a DJ at radio station in Chicago. The station hosted a Disco Demolition Night as a White Sox Double Header between the games. Since the Bee Gee were connected so closely with disco because of Saturday Night Fever, they took the brunt of it despite them being so much more than disco. They were not played on the radio here in the US for decades because of it. It's only been about 10-15 years now that I hear them being played regularly now. The all of their hits after the late 70's were made overseas as they rarely got any radio time here in the US.

From the bee-bop years...the late 60's early 70's revolution in music...the big hair era of the 80's and melodic sounds of the 90's. What great music that so few are exposed to now.
