@PinkPonyDesign2 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad you liked it! =D I would recommend that you test what looks good with your machine and vinyl, just be careful to not make them too short, so longer than 3 is my general recommendation. This since you'll be sewing the vinyl multiple times so you don't perforate it too much and make it weak.

@PinkPonyDesign Жыл бұрын
I've sewn them on everything from my Husqvarna Viking Emarald 118 with a dual feed foot to my Juki TL-2200QVP MINI. Just don't choose the thickest marine vinyl if you're using your domestic, go for a thinner version to start. And try and see if you machine prefers a dual feed foot, teflon or a roller foot. And if you have any questions/issues, just drop me a line and ask =) I have a good blog post here about dealing with skipped stitches and tension issues: blogg.pinkponydesign.com/2020/06/skipped-stitches-and-tension-issues-help.html

What stitch length did you use for this, and what type thread do you use for sewing leather/vinyl? Thank you so much for doing this tutorial!
@PinkPonyDesign3 жыл бұрын
Aww, thank you, I'm so glad you found it helpful! The stitch length depends on which machine I'm using, but the important thing here is to ensure it's not too short as that will perforate the fabric unnecessarily and weaken it, as we will sew over the same spot twice when making these (also a reason why it's important to not use a leather needle). When I sew on my domestic Husqvarna Opal I use a long stitch length like 5, because it finds it a little difficult to feed all those vinyl layers and the stitches tend to come out shorter than the actual length. But on my Juki semi industrial straight stitch, I use 3.5-4 usually. Just try on a scrap that you fold like the final handles and see what length your machine needs for a mice looking, not too tight stitch =) I use Gütermann Sew All thread for pretty much everything (if I want it more defined I usually just double up for the top thread and use two spools) as that's what I can get a hold of easily here and I love their quality and color range. I know the stitches will hold and I know the color will hold too. I hope this helps!
@GrammaPatriot3 жыл бұрын
@@PinkPonyDesign oh thank you...it helps a lot! I tried your tutorial and my thread kept coming out halfway n breaking. The thread i practiced with tho is from Amazon, one of those “25 spools for ten dollars” lol. I was impressed tho so i’m going to Joann’s fabric store tomorrow for some sturdy/good thread. I cant wait to try it again with better thread. Thank you for replying so promptly. Looking forward to watching more of your tutorials!
@PinkPonyDesign3 жыл бұрын
@@GrammaPatriot Ah yes, you really want good quality, non cotton thread for sewing bags. It's awful to spend a bunch of time and fabric on a pretty bag - only to have the seams give out after a few months! Just don't buy too heavy/extra strong thread as that can be difficult to work with for these particular handles, due to the double lines of sewing. Best of luck!

Where do you buy you vinyl from? Any tips for buying? Weight etc..
@PinkPonyDesign3 жыл бұрын
I live in Portugal so depending on which part of the world you're from I don't know if my tips will be very helpful? But I buy a lot from my parents store in Sweden: borlangesycentrum.se/, I shop some from Etsy.com and various local shops when I travel. The thing to think about is that the vinyl isn't too heavy for your machine, I rather interface a thinnish vinyl to get the feel and stability I'm after, than try to work with a super heavy one. Not much advice I know, but it's so difficult to try to explain in text like this. I'm sorry!
