This may not have been the intention of the song but: Having a relationship while also having Autism Spectrum Disorder, and generalized anxiety, this song really hits home. I’m sad that this song didn’t end up being as popular as others
The difficulties in communication brought on by anxiety or social phobias, always arriving at what your brain considers the perfect combination of words for any given situation only after the fact. One of the reasons I love Pinocchio-P's work so much is that even when tackling ostensibly negative subject matter it never feels self-indulgent, instead coming across as a reassurance to whoever needs to hear the words "You are not alone." ありがとう、ピノキオピーさん。

I myself as someone with autism and a impulse for " play biting " people i trust or find as friends family or lovers i relate a lot to this song, as i find myself making people leave because of my "tendencies bothering them" i have learned to explain myself when i couldn't do it before, and now my friends understand when to ask me to stop and that i don't mean it in a bad way
The phrase "to bite ones tongue" means to refrain from saying something. Usually done to avoid bothering someone or to not say something you might regret later. Maybe when she says she bit her tongue and she bit it hard meant she held off from saying something despite really wanting to say it. This is also likely when she yells in her mute world, while in reality she's biting her tongue, not speaking out.
wow this song hits hard! i feel like it could be interpreted as being about autism or similar neurological disorders, struggling with communication and understanding other people plays a big role in how people see you edit: im not really a “thanks for the likes!” kind of guy, but its rly nice to hear how this kind of interpretation resonated with so many people. love you!

ive seen so many interpretations for this song already LMAO but as an autistic who stutters and is afraid of people + conflict (because for some reason i fit all the criteria for peoples theories) all of it makes sense with the song not understanding communication IS a big problem with people like me after all. and expecting to do it perfectly when it seems like anyone BUT you can? is really tough. the "but youre no longer there" lyric rly hits hard with theories like this one.. trying to voice what you want to say or even praise for people and they just dont care
@kompot505 Жыл бұрын
that was absolutely my first interpretation too!! as an autistic person it just instantly made sense even halfway through the song.

i agree!! i feel like with social situations n stuff its so hard to figure out how to communicate properly like a "normal" prson would... esp since my autism makes it so difficult i have to constantly second guess myself every time, and by the time i've managed to articulate my thoughts properly it just feels like nobody cares anymore, or they just dont give what i say as much value bcs of how much i struggled. rlly makes it feel so draining being with others, but isolating knowing nobody would have that patience with me :')

And this is why PinoP is a brilliant songwriter. The song is essentially a heartbreak song: the persona ends up heartbroken due to their inability to express their affections, or maybe reciprocate affections given to them in a manner that makes their own feelings clear. But to juxtapose these emotions with the difficulties of physically saying tongue twisters and the chaos of how unintentional utterances can alter the meaning entirely is a brilliant depiction of the anxieties we all face when trying to make ourselves understood. And by that note, this song goes beyond just being a love song about someone failing at love and becomes a reflection of the human struggle of finding acceptance, both from others and from ourselves. Thank you PinoP for your gift of music.

This comment puts what exactly what I was thing into words (ironically lol)
Something I think is really clever about this song is how the tongue twisters and the girl's stuttering/misspeaking may make whoever sings the song stutter as well. Due to the stuttering and natural difficulty in singing such lyrics, native singers may have a hard time and end up embarrassing themselves alongside the girl. The manufactured empathy this song generates as a result helps deepen its meaning through making the audience automatically relate (or at least sympathize, regardless of whether you have anxiety, autism, etc). That's my two cents.
I think this song is about not being able to say the right thing at the right time. And when it's too late, you'll think about it and be able to say the right thing. I really resonate with that message!

Even though the character of the song is a kid, I feel like the meaning can be applied to the adult world too. This may be a bit of a stretch, but the song could be portraying the fact that the standard of communication skills needed to be listened to is becoming really high overall. How often do you see someone's entire point being ignored because they articulated it not in the best way which allowed others to nitpick it and give it completely different, usually negative, meaning? A lot of times people don't listen to what you are trying to express with your words and what emotions you are trying to convey. Instead, it becomes like a court room scenario where every word can be used against you. With all that, those who happened to fall just so slightly behind in terms of communication skills (e.g. some other comments mention autism) may have a really tough time to the point where no matter how many times they try to express their true feelings, they won't be able to reach other people since those people already deemed them as "the wierd one" and stopped listening (2:48 - 3:03).

its ovbious man. what song of pino its about child time?
2:16 here, it sounds like they’re saying 祟った, (tatatta) which means something like“cursed”. It could be saying that the inability to communicate properly is a curse to them
english comment here, but id like to think that its both of the ideas you presented ^^ like someone who has a stutter and is afraid to confess because of that and is afraid to be dumped or made fun of for it regardless, i always love pinocchio-ps music :)
I just wanted to point out for all my fellow English speakers that a lot of this song is based on Japanese tongue twisters! Here's all the ones I saw, let me know if I missed any :) [Raw wheat, raw rice, raw eggs - Nama-mugi nama-gome nama-tamago] [Bus gas explosion - Basu gasu bakuhatsu] [Red scroll, yellow scroll, blue scroll - Aka-maki-gami, ki-maki-gami, ao-maki-gami] [In the back garden there are two chickens, in the front garden there are two chickens - Uraniwa ni wa niwa, niwa ni wa niwa niwatori ga iru] [The guest next door is a guest who eats a lot of persimmons - Tonari no kyaku wa yoku kaki kuu kyaku da] [Tokyo patent permit office - Toukyou tokkyo kyoka kyoku]

I was looking for a list of them all in the comments! Thanks so much :)
I mean, I don't know if it's obvious but the song feels like it's about someone having trouble expressing themselves to people, especially the person that they love. I think the biggest evidence for this is that the ending of the song shows miku trying again and again to say I love you but she fails sveral times before she succeeds. This is also especially sad because the person has left or is just no longer there, which means that she took so long to say I love you and to express her feelings that they ended up leaving. I think that biting her tongue in a way is to keep her from saying things that make her anxious too: When she bites her tongue after her hair is white with anxiety it turns back to normal as if she feels relieved by not saying the things that she feels. And then there are other examples like her neighbor complaining too much and her showing sympathy towards them, even if she thinks it's hopeless and she doesn't want to be so polite. The scream of frustration over not expressing things correctly and the repeated speech emulating stuttering (2:10), just continue with the theme. I think it's also kind of charming how pinocchiop is able to keep similar themes whithin his songs instead of just making them separate items. I've been meaning to say something along these lines, but pinocchiop tends to portray certain things the same way through his songs, like the person that miku loves in most of these. Miku is portrayed as someone that has very human flaws, and who struggles with "simple" life affairs, but then there is the other person that often is almost devoid of these faults and difficulties. Miku often seeks them for forgiveness or sympathy. Depending on the song the person might have more flaws, like in 404 where the person fails to sympathize with miku, making her disappointed. Even so, she still looks up to this person and expects them to understand because she loves this person. In Non Breath Oblige, Miku wants to sort of save the person, but struggles to do so. Some other songs have other types of listeners, like the one that represents the bad aspects of society such as God-ish, Ghosts Play to the Audience, or Magical Girl and Chocolate. Some other songs have the singer encourage the listener like, Kick-Ass Literally*, Antenna, or even Ultimate senpai (which is the rare case in which the singer and the listener are represented as the same). So far I think the best way to explain it is that pinocchiop has got not only different characters for Miku, but also for the type of listener, the listener is also a pinocchiop character. I love the songs where the listener is Miku's love (for the lack of beter terms, it could be platonic or romantic idk). It always feels like the listener is someone that doesn't get miku because they are very conformist to society and fit in, while miku who is a misfit isn't understood by society; Even so, the listener seems to be close to Miku and wants what's good for her. They seem to be portrayed as a kind but unaware person, one that is very dear to the main singer most of the time, and that might not fully comprehend anything Miku is saying. The listener often portrays an aspect of society, good or bad, that Miku wishes to enlighten.
