Philippine Airlines | INAUGURAL Airbus A350 Flight from Vancouver to Manila

Hi guys,
I wanted to share with you the inaugural/first PAL A350 flight for the Vancouver to Manila route. I had the chance to ask the FA why PAL deployed the A350 seemingly all of a sudden. It was because it needed mileage to commence London and New York routes. It's definitely a rare and unique opportunity to be on board this flight. YVR MNL routes regularly utilize Boeing 777's. I don't think PAL has intentions of using their A350's for Vancouver service, at least for now. But with their A340's retiring, we might see the A350 again in PAL colors in YVR sooner rather than later.
This trip really came unexpected. It was all a rush due to some family matter. We had to book the tickets only 4 days left before the flight. So it really came to my surprise when I saw that we were going to utilize the A350. RP-C3504 was the aircraft's registry. I believe it was only a week old during the time of this flight. It really smelled brand new, the washroom was in glorious condition and the mood lighting was just fantastic. Please watch and let me know your thoughts down in the comments! Thanks!

A great vid, thanks for uploading. I flew in RP-C3504 from Heathrow to Manila in November 2018, lovely aircraft. And very fast on take-off i thought (as was with 3506 back from Manila) but so quiet! The previous Philippines flight i took from London was the A340-300 a few years earlier, big improvement with the enviroment although the cabin crew have been great on all my PAL flights....I can't wait to go back to the Philippines when the madness is over, lovely country......

how did you get on your phone the "FLIGHT" tracking the different airlines. I saw an AD "flight insure "on the top left corner pf your phone ? after around 16 minutes of the video segment you were tracking the flight ahead of your plane.

Hi Poul! I will be going back to the Philippines for the first time in 34 years next year and your travel vlogs have pumped me up for the trip! Hope I can fly on a PAL A350 out of LAX or SFO. Also enjoyed watching the flight vlogs too. I actually understood a few of the occasional aviation and weather terms as my dad used to brief the pilots before flying when he was in the Navy. Loved that you shared this experience. Just like you, I'm a huge Boeing and GE fan, and again, just like you, the A350 proportions are growing on me. If I were to directly compare the nose shape design between the A350 and the 787, I still prefer the latter's more curvaceous profile slope from window to nosetip, making it look more elegant. I find the A350's profile a bit flat and the nosetip too pointy. LOL. Subtle aesthetic design cues that actually matter to me. Again, I agree that I now acknowledge that the A350 is a wonderful flying machine.

a350-900 is an old model, the new one is A350-1000, it was just launched last year March 2018 .

Were you in the Premium Economy class? Seats seemed wider and different than economy but your meal card still stated only economy.

Yup! Premium economy seats but same service as business class. just had to pay 20 bucks more for the seats. Please take note that this was only "special flight"

I would say quite generous. There’s a leg rest that pops out and a foot rest. I just wish it was a little more spacious to step out when your passenger beside you has reclined his/her seat.

Nice vlog. But i wish you cut out the music during takeoff, so we can hear just the engines. I know you lowered the soundtrack level, but the saxophone kept riffing over and over, LOL. There's nothing like the sound of engines during takeoff, that alone is the "soundtrack". You know we AvGeeks love that stuff!

It’s a shame PAL doesn’t operate the A350 more frequently to the West Coast (YVR, SFO, and LAX). I know PAL operates the A350 to SFO a few times a month, but not all the time. Hopefully, when PAL decides to replace the 777, they’ll replace it with the A350-1000, giving them an all airbus fleet.
