This is a Comparison of the Pioneer DJM900 Nexus and the Denon DN-X 1700, its just a basic comparo I didn't get too much into detail or it would have taken quite a long time if you would like to know more about these 2 mixers there are plenty of KZbin Vids to check out. This is a FAIR REVIEW of these 2 mixers I actually own the Denon.
If I missed anything I will add in text to this video because I don't have the DJM at my disposal.
Thanks for watching.

I have used both and much prefer the Denon. Each to his own.

@ Jean Taes, after 2 full years of use I do still love my Denon. I don't really understand how you figured I was "highly biased" I did say they were very comparable each had its strengths and weaknesses and the main reason why one would chose the Pioneer would be to compliment the CDJ Decks. One thing I noticed I did screw up on was at the end where I said Pioneer had a slight edge on quality my bad I was strictly referring to the slight distortion at max levels only ( which can be solved by engaging the limiter on the Denon). One thing I have noticed and will agree with you is longevity Denon is superior, I'm a part of the Pioneer forums and all I hear is complaints from Pioneer owners about the quality of most of their products, they seem to be more interested in pumping out new products rather than improving and fixing the current products.

I like the simplicty of the FX and the quick acess to midi funtionallity on the DNX-1700. I've used Ableton alot over the year for both production and performing live. It sounds to me like Denon has really re-created alot of Lives effects like the beat repeat and the transform effect. The loop effect & the abilty to run a filter on top of all effects. To me, makes the DNX a true DJ mixer. From what i've seen in demo videos, all the effects are clean, crisp & function seamlessly out of the box

Ive owned a Pioneer Djm 909 . a Djm 700 , a Rane ttm56s and now a Denon Dn-s600 . The denon has been the best by far , especially with the midi capabilities , and the onboard effects are on par with pioneer . Ill be head back to rane though because of the release of the 62 .

I got mine for $ 1,749 today. The 900 is awesome and the effects are on point! Very impressed considering I still own my 800.

. djm2000 and the 800 in the local disco but i own the 1700. Every time the crowd go crazy i wish i had the Dnx . if you are creative go crazy with the effects on the dnx 1 the fabric settings you change them input and output put a limiter on each channel no distortion 2 efx1 as color effect and you ha-ve 12 loop one sample and send it to channel 1,2,3 and 4 and with the parame-ter send high or low end true and really go banana's 3 cross father setting change it into a battle mixer .

Hi I choose a djm 900 after using one at a club, the main reason was the sound quality, you have really have to listen to it, its the best sounding mixer pioneer have ever made, rich & warm sounding, way better than the DJM800 before it. I these mine with vinyl (mainly) & traktor scratch pro 2 DVS, for me the all the effects are a secondary bonus, as build & sound come first, price wise i managed to get a good deal @ £1200 (euro import) much less than the Denon X1700 @ £1399, (uk price)

They have the same parent company now but are independent otherwise. I can't imagine what expertise A&H has making digital djing mixers when Denon came out with them earlier. Denon also has extensive turntable, phono cartridge, mixer (analog and digital), amplifier, receivers, and preamps experience. And they have their own mastering facility. Again, the 1700 is a digital mixer. The DB2 and DB4 were A&H's first digital dj boards.

I'm going to take a lot of shit for this. I recently bought a new mixer. I didn't really need a new one. I've had the same Vestax PMC25 for about 12-13 years. My PMC25 still sounds & looks great. All though the PMC25 is only a 2 channel its has 6 inputs plus a mic input. I've alway like the fat knobs & kill faders on the PMC25. I really just wanted a mixer with midi function. I have Maschine so i wanted to sync Maschine to my CD playes. I bought the DDM4000, Im so impressed by this mixer so far

I have had both mixers too, keep in mind that the Denon mixer has been out for 3 years, that why it's cheaper that that 2012 nexus mixer. You need to keep it real your video time on the denon compared the pioneer is twice as long. I keep the Denon and my cdjs 2000.the denon has color effects screen, color effect button red and green. All these mixers after the Denon x 1700 is the blue print to these mixers of today. DO the time line and check out the mixers pre & post compare then Sound-wave.

if you take the time to know the denon its a monster the pioneer has build in standard limiter. the denon give you the power to change all of your in and out limiter or not on each channel change you cross father and bam you have a battle mixer its a shame that denon do not have alot af costumers in this price segment because it being judge by its badge. and dont forget thit was their first attempt to show what they can i can only say this RESPECT !! dn-x1700 is a monstermixer!! peace !
