@@philipmarsh3522 I didn’t say a screen is a bad idea (doesn’t have to be large though, if your eyesight is that poor you shouldn’t be driving anyways). @philipmarsh35223 ай бұрын
@@henrikpetersson3463 I’m just teasing a bit. In all seriousness I really think those old analogue gauges are much more elegant and cool. I just use the fake one that is meant to look like the analogue ones anyway. For me it’s a bit like a watch, I can visualize the time faster using something that looks like what I used for decades. But I can also see the utility of being able to customize the dash depending on the kind of driving you’re doing, too. I suspect I’m a bit older than you, so you might not remember previous changes that were also not popular - like anti-lock brakes and traction control (“If you need that stuff you shouldn’t be driving a car!”) or turbochargers (“A 6.0 liter engine is a real engine and doesn’t need something that will break!”) and even for some purists cup holders. So, we’ll all eventually get used to the new technology and it will just be normal. What does really bother me is that some of the things in my new $90k car require a subscription or they won’t work. I probably won’t ever get used to that one.

Well in this car the electrification mostly aids performance with little MPG improvement. Personally I'm really happy about it because it fixes the thing I hate most about turbo Porsches which is lag. The discrepancy between the 0-60mph vs the 5-60mph times are often more than a second which I hate. One of the main reasons I always disliked turbo Porsches. Some version's have less lag but it's always at least a little. The NA H6 on the other hand are perfect and symphonic. This electrification should mostly eliminate the lag which is what I've wanted in turbo cars forever.

In their first ever attempt they had a faster car then tesla who had been doing EVs since 2007. In 2020 the taycan was the fastest EV on the planet beating the fastest tesla at the time. Then in late 2021 tesla had to add an entire extra motor in the tri motor plaid and it beat the taycan turbo s in a straight line but lost around nurumbring. Now porsche has created a new platform and motors in the 2024 taycan turbo s and turbo gt but didn't need to add an extra. Instead retained a lightweight 2 motor setup making it the fastest track sedan on the planet and destroying every plaid lap time on every track its been on. Theirs a video already out of the taycan turbo gt beating the plaid in a straight line aswell. Imagine what 3 of porsches new motors would do if they only cared about straight line speed.. it would be a mid 8s car and easily the fastest car in a straight line. Beating the lucid and everyone. But they also care about handling and braking. Nonetheless the new turbo s and gt are the best all around performance EVs on the market. Why compare times with the new AWD 4s against the RWD only old gen on a wet track?

I dont like the start button im gonna miss their key turn because it feels more crisp doesnt feel like its gonna be a potential failure like a stupid button feels like and its a lot easier to keep power to battery on and start up because there is no latency in a key system like there is with a button hope it comes with a manual still
@davidkn4 ай бұрын
what on earth are you talking about, failure, latency 🤣. No manual, can't with a hybrid
@Lemingtona-x5g4 ай бұрын
atleast you won't miss hybrid
@Thri11seeker4 ай бұрын
@davidkn you can run a hybrid drive train with a manual. The ferrari 296 could be done with a manual if they chose to. Also if you haven't used the buttons to turn on accessories, then try to start or put the brake and hit button at same time you will notice a latency and if you have to hit button twice it increases that latency it's extremely noticeable in cars like the land rover defender or civic type r, with the defender if you put it in park and then hit the button right after then it won't turn off because the delay to register park, civic type r takes ages to start if you had accessories on and I don't mean slow crank I mean delay before starter goes. Honestly, a manual hybrid would be sick because no one would stall them because you would have torque to get you going if it was linked to the flywheel or crank and if it was an electric motor separated to do a awd system it could get you going before you dump clutch like the lmp1/prototypes.

@@davidknyou can have a manual hybrid it just isn't common. Honda had it down to a T 20 years ago but for some reason decided not to continue to give the option even though most of their hybrids sold were in fact manuals

If they only put a hybrid system, it wouldn't be enough. They had to give it extra displacement and more power. Lose the hybrid system and give the 3.6L a tune with twin turbos, and the power would likely be 95% of the new gains in performance. How much turbo lag is there on track? A 992.1 GTS with $15k in performance mods would likely destroy this in a race and be more reliable. Instead, you get the reliability of a hybrid. Just buy the Carrera S and put the extra money in options and mods.

I just rented the 991.1 Carrera 4 GTS in Switzerland a day ago, and comparing to the new 991.2 I have to say: - the paddle/key starter was weird but cool, new push start button is ugly af. - full digital dash sucks, the analog tacho was so nice to look at and helped with the Porsche design experience. - cooling vents for the mobile phone in the centre console is a god send, my phone was basically cooking itself and got very hot in there. - those matrix LED high beams are amazing, narrow mountain roads in the dark and fog weren’t at all scary to drive with them, and the fact they could precisely dim certain parts of the road ahead was very useful. Surprised they could make it better and showing the width of the car would have helped in narrower sections. - that hybrid whine would annoy me. The hybrid system itself is awesome though. If I could buy one, it would be the GT3 though.
Very enthusiastic about this new Porsche: 3.0L => 3.6L , new pipes exhaust location with better looking in my opinion. Seems to have better outside sound due to the cylinder volume increase. The inside sound has a bit of fake coming from the speaker. The front looking is ok for me, i like the clean looking without indicators. I like the rear too, simpler. My misunderstanding is why hybrid while it doesn't allow to escape from the malus ? In the other side, yeah i would prefer the analog tachometer.
