I’ve held the technics 1200 mk7 in my hands and it is not the technics we know and love. Honestly, the plx 1000 is more true to the classic technics 1200 than the mk7 is.

Excellent video for the Absolute Beginner. A few educational things you might have mentioned. 1) No one calls it a "vinyl turntable". It's simply a , turntable. 2) Changing the height of the tone arm is called, adjusting the "vertical tracking angle" or "VTA". 3) You didn't mention the "Strobe Light". With the Strobe Light turned on, and the table moving at the proper speed, either 33 RPM or 45 RPM, one row of "dots" around the edge of your turntable will appear to be not moving. If one row of dots appears to be moving slowly either forwards or backwards then your table is either moving slightly too fast or slightly too slow for the desired speed you have set, either 33RPM or 45RPM.Then you can use the "pitch controls" to make slight adjustments until those dots remain still. 4) If you are a DJ and you're moving your turntable from one location to another, remove the counter weight at the end of your tone arm during transport. And be sure the tonearm's lock down clamp is in place. 5) if you are purchasing your turntable from a local audio store be sure to have them set up your stylus cartridge, it's tracking weight, the anti-skating and the VTA when you purchase it. If not done correctly your records won't sound right and worse it will wear out your records and your expensive "Stylus/Cartridge" prematurely. Thanks for this video. I want to see more people discovering the superior sound you don't get from streaming audio or a digitally compressed MP3 file.

Those additinional weights for tonearn balance are only needed when a cartridge is too heavy or too light for this tonearm and the main counter weight cannot be adjusted properly.

This guy tends to waffle on and lose his train of thought like that time my uncle found a dog on the side of the road that looked just like Garry Shandlings and shouted at him in a Rip Torn accent or the time I went to Florida and skydived

I love my pioneer plx 1000 very heavy end turntable that torn arm is good for scratching n mixing I always use my old technic 1200 mk 5 but they don't make them the same so sad the technics mk 7 is not the same as the other brother mk 2 n mk 5 is not that legendary turntable anymore the price of the pioneer is great n it feel like the technics when I first touch it I felt like home n comfortable with the pioneer plx
