Do I have to use the HPF? I feel like I can barely hear these.

@@theredmeadow You don't have to do anything you don't want to do. If you are using headunit power for these speakers, you'll be OK. If you are using an external amp with a lot of power, be careful. The HPF also known as a High Pass Filter, filters out frequencies below 850 Hz. It lets the high frequencies pass through. This means it's only playing music frequencies from 850 Hz and higher. This makes the speaker a tweeter. A large amount of the music played in modern music is below 850 Hz. If you are looking for these speakers to be mid range speakers, you should remove the included in-line HPF and use the HPF on your in-dash receiver set somewhere between, 120Hz to 80HZ.

The tweeter has its own built in crossover right? Like built into the speaker itself? So the tweeter doesn't distort itself apart if you don't run the HPF?

@@DarrenBoxhall You don't need to use any HPF on this speaker if you don't want. However, Please note: If you don't use an HPF of some type the power handling capability of the Pioneer TS-A709 is approximately 30 watts. If you use the in-line HPF included in the box the power handling is approximately 100 watts.

Can I pair these with the pioneer ts-a692c instead of the supplied tweeter, and use theses as my tweeter?

It may be possible, however it depends upon the particular setup in your vehicle. Please note, the TS-A692C is designed as a package with the two speakers working together. The pair of speakers wired as designed will show the amplifier a 4 ohm load. This is common in car audio. The TS-A709 is a stand alone product also designed as a 4 ohm load on an amp. With this in mind you'll need to be aware of the connected amplifier's capabilities and wire the new combo of speakers in series or on separate outputs to ensure reliable operation. If you are planning to run the 6.5 inch speaker on one output and the TS-A709 on a separate output, that will work great.
