Pipe Making: Bent Billiard Pipe, With Simple Tools

This smoking pipe was created from a piece of Briar root. The pattern was made by using a Dremel 8260 using a special carving tool. Additional features are a deep black coloring making the holes really stand out compared to the outer part of the body.

Your videos are very inspiring. After almost completely quitting alcohol, I had room in my life for another vice, so I started smoking pipes. As the smoke is typically not inhaled, it's less unhealthy than cigarettes. Also I love the amount of different blends and flavours. I"m going to try making some pipes. As briar is expensive, I'll start with birch. It may be more likely to crack, but it's cheaper to practice with.

Practice with cheaper Woods. Also there is a lot to learn on the internet regarding which different species of wood that is suitable for real smoking pipes :) Good job with the alcohol by the way :)

@HallbeamDesign I read somewhere, birch was used for pipes in wartime, when briar was not available, so it should be smokable. Not as durable of course. About alcohol, I realized even a small amount was messing with my sleep. I prefer waking up well rested even in weekends. Now my weekend treat is a few bowls of pipe tobacco.

Something very satisfying that you use a pipe cleaner to apply the dyes. Also, thank you for the public service of helping hypochondriacs with their irrational fear of holes 🤣😂 I am curious, do you ever put any sort of treatment in the bowl of a pipe?

It really is satisfying. It is possible to put activated coal inside of the bowl. Here in europe it is common just to start using a pipe and then It will just become "treated" after a while :)

I buy my stems from janzen-pfeifen.de. The one in the video is just a plain black acryllic one. Hope this helps 😀
