All of this is eye hand coordination and an ability to “SEE” the design as it progresses toward the completed pipe. This cannot be taught, this comes from hundreds of hours of work and experience by a very motivated and professional artist!

Extensible a cualquier profesión existente. El Sociólogo Richard Sennett lo aclaró excelemente en su obra " El Artesano", libro que todos deberían leer. Sabía que usted puede ser un maravilloso Artesano sin saberlo?

The extraordinary skill, sensitivity, and attention on a work that admits of no replication, a mistake you can't fix, you only have one try, and all of this is just amazing, it's beautiful to learn that in a way of exaggerated technology with mass production there are still these companies, I repeat, it's really beautiful!

Thanks for the comment! I believe Asami Kikuchi has been making pipes for a little over 10 years. It's a wonderful technique, isn't it?

I am also artisan pipemaker like Asami-San. We use several machine to help our work like bench drill, sanding motor, and lathe. But we called ourself as artisan because all work is starting until finish by our hand. Like what shape we want, how round the bowl, how deep the drill, etc. Making a single piece of pipe can take time 2-3 days, or some case a week. You all watching 19 minutes video and you believe you know all the work? People keep talking about it not handmade but machine made.. Bruh, machine made is called if you put piece of wood into a machine, then you left it for dozen minutes and then, Voila! The pipe finished! All the work done by machine and program.. there have pipe factory which have work like that, that's what you called machine work!

You cannot use knife or manual hand grinder because briar is very hard & dense wood. try to use hand grinder machine with sandpaper wheel on it. Or if you don't have, use hand drilling machine, it most common machine that almost every household have it. Use grit 60 sandpaper for rough shaping, then use grit 240, 360, then grit 400 for smooth surface.

the title is a lie. They are NOT "handmade pipes." The maker uses a whole line and plethora of different machines during the manufacturing process... I'm a woodcarver/artist. I know EXACTLY what handmade is. Machining, drilling, shaping and making things with any mechanical powered machine does NOT qualify as "Handmade."

да точно. в 21 веке потакать никотиновой наркомании.
There is no skills making pipe using machines. At least should be made by hand to show a little skill.
