Thank you for your pipe smoking videos, they have been a real pleasure, and inspired my Husband and I to start smoking pipes. 3 weeks in, there's no going back. Enjoying trying the diffrent blends, and my best Christmas present was a Brog no 14 Church warden pipe ! Absolutely living the life. Happy puffing Christmas

If you like pipes and books you will enjoy watching Malcolm Guite's channel. You may already watch him but it's so relaxing just sitting their listening to him reading passages from books like Talken or the Narnia books while he puffs on his pipe. It's nice to get away from politics. To be honest I mostly watch You Tube these days and don't watch the News that much. My great Uncle Eric used to smoke a pipe he used to have the tabaco that came in a dark green bag with a gold eagle on the cover if I remember wright I don't know much about it but I'm sure you do. Have a peaceful Christmas and a happy new year

Hello Richard, you describe, too a tee, the serenity of settling down, with a drink and a bowl of tobacco, into a comfortable arm chair, and relaxing with a book, listening to music, or enjoying conversation. I find it the best way to relax at the end of the day. I hope Julia and yourself enjoy this Christmas.

I gotta say, as an American music composer who loves England, the English, etc. quite dearly - OLD (pre 1960’s) England, etc., this is a GREAT channel. I’m not a pipe smoker, or any kind of smoker, but my great grandpa was (he had more German in him), and I very much love the Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, Lloyd Alexander, etc. kinds of folks - I feel a deep kinship/kindred spirit kind of deal with these folks, plus the Brontë sisters, Charles Dickens, etc. Sure I am culturally conservative. But I am more especially drawn to high fantasy, mystery, historical/culturally deeper books, and more refined tastes in the arts in general. I love the English countryside, all the Tudor/split frame houses, all that stuff… Looking forward to more videos. The English countryside is the best. (Have never been there, but long to go there someday…)

Nice video, I tend to sip a latte or mocha latte when sitting with my pipe…. I have a tender mouth and need to sip when smoking to protect my mouth. Love your streamlined pipe designs, I tend to use a Rhodesian or bent bulldog, and reach for the darker cavendish and burly blends…. Thank you for making these videos, and have a Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you and Julia! Books and pipes definitely go together. I am half-way through a H.P. Lovecraft collection. Mostly I drink tea with honey in it with my pipe. Honey helps a bit with tongue bite if it hits. 😅

Hi Richard, I’m currently reading “The Wine of Certitude, A Literary Biography of Ronald Knox”. He was an English Catholic convert priest from Anglicanism, part of the later end of the Oxford Movement. He was a wonderfully clear writer whom I enjoy very much. I’m not having a bowl at this moment but I have been really enjoying Cult Blood Red Moon as well as Seattle Pipe Club’s Plum Pudding in an Erin Go Bragh pipe, which I believe is a house brand pipe and tobacco of the Pipes and Cigars website here in the States. Cheers! Merry Christmas!

I love reading. I love books. I'm an author and publish myself. I'm an independent author/publisher. I'm not a city person either. The country is the best ever. I'm currently reading John Norman's Gor and Telnarian Histories series. Which are not politically correct! There's nothing like reading, especially old books. I'm with you on the intrusiveness of government.

Do we know if Samuel Gawith as a company is lobbying the government to say Pipe Smoking is very different to cigarette smoking and highlighting the wider industry that supports it, artisan pipe makers etc. The USA pipe industry and national clubs seem to be doing this lobbying very well 😊 totally get what you are saying - Merry Christmas 🎄

Don't know how oldie worldy it is but i find after a day in the madness of the world outside that there is nothing nicer than after dinner pouring a whisky lighting the fire lighting my pipe and opening a book. Maybe escapism, maybe harking back to a simpler time either way its a great way to relax and find some peace. I hope you and everyone watching has a happy relaxing and peaceful christmas however you choose to spend it

Black Cavendish is not specifically a variety of tobacco leaf, but a flavouring process usually applied to Virginia or Burley tobaccos.

So, to join in, albeit a little late, hand made pipe (my own!) Wilsons Enigma, smells a bit like dried blackberry's and a nice smoke, and on the reading list tonight is 'History of the Homeland' the story of the British Background, by Henry Hamilton. in 1947, it says inside the cover that it is No 4 of Primers for the age of plenty, written in a style I think you would appreciate, I've only just started reading it, though written for the day, seems very relevant somehow, merry Christmas to you both, looking forward to an interesting new year, (although it doesn't really start till March/April!!, depending on personal belief)

Could you explain how ingesting nicotine gets rid of “toxins”?
@RockTo114 күн бұрын
It doesn't. Nicotine is not a detoxifying agent, at all. It is a toxin, actually. But, I enjoy pipes and cigars. There is however no need for pseudo-science. The only benefits empirically proven are some improvements in some cognitive functions.
