I've had to go back on so many installs by others over the years because of the flare fitting not seating properly, and the installer not pressure testing it because they 'trust' the factory flare. I've never trusted those flares, I always make new flares on the line set. Also always recommend using the FlareMate gaskets (or others like them) for mini-split flare connections. They've cut down on flare recalls drastically.

Mike you keep it real due to flare nut every one does this when you trying to get done for the customer 😃See everyone try to save a buck but at end Mike probably save the compressor with all that piping coil like this isn’t good because your not getting correct gas coming back to cool the compressor and oil return .Eventually if the line didn’t have a kink and leak you be replacing a compressor on that unit home owner look at video and learn by the mistake at the end it’s going to $$$$ more than equipment cost.

I thought you had to coil extra copper horizontal so the oil doesn't get stuck in the vertical tube coil. I caught your flare with no fitting behind it. Nice edit to hide the mistake. in general, too short a line-set makes more compressor/refrigerant noise transfer to the indoor coil(it's like a large speaker). it can also ramp up and down in surges, instead of slow changes with enough gas/liquid buffering in the lines. it could possibly set error codes if it start surging/flooding too much. you did about all you could given the totally hacked up butcher mess you were handed. 🤔

@JesseDoesHVAC5 ай бұрын
@@PipeDoctor i cant speak for the system you fixed up, but a lot of the brands available here (Australia 🇦🇺 ) eg; fujitsu, daikin, mitsubishi, panasonic all have similar requirements for the minimum installed lineset length in their literature.

There's nothing wrong with doing repairs that are "good enough" when the customer is on the same page and understanding. It's actually the right thing to do in situations when budget is a concern. If it's safe and it works, understood by the customer, it's good. Many people have been fed by farmers that fixed their equipment in the middle of the field.

removing the flares on anything, generally voids the manufacture warranties on the spot. if you do braze, they generally want you to use bare line and braze to pre-flared stubs or still flare the ends.

I remember driving out of state to get some PAG oil, Shop put some in a plastic cup for me so I could oil my hose fittings. Was about 105 degrees when I went to get it charged. Said he had to wait till it cooled off. Pointed out it will never cool off in this heat. which house on which fitting, and melted my arm hooking them up. Only charged me for the freon.

Good job this unit is probably a rebadged gree just like the Mr cool mini splits where the come with what they call recharged linesets and just tell the consumers coil up the excess linesets and don't vacaum the system. And the ubtus come recharged with refrigerant but the consumer should have called you to do the linesets and instalation VS paying whoever did that hack job of an instalation and would ended up saving money anyway paying you to install it cut the linesets corectly flare vacaum down to 300 microns and release the charge from the condenser good job and you can always come back later on and cycle the rest refrigerant back into the compressor and vacaum it down to spec later on.
