Mike, the nails aren't leaking. The mold is along rafters too. I would put an N-95 mask on and see if they have a bathroom exhaust fan direct venting into the attic! There is a reason this house has massive moisture in the attic.

Yes, it probably rains in that attic if conditions are right. It is an inside moisture/ventilation problem, not leaky roof. 😉

The moisture on the nails is condensation. It’s being caused by either the house having a humidifier or their bathroom fan is vented into the attic.

In 2012 I installed a Bryant Evolution Extreme 280ANV036 and loved it!!! Saved mucho dinero too! Comfort Setting is the only way to go to maintain best humidity levels, hot heat, cold cold and quiet operation. Also minimum 8k+ heat strip if the heat pump goes wonkie. Circuit boards can be a fickle bitch. Liked how you can manually adjust hi/low fan speed limits for best circulation and efficiency. Paid $6400 for mine new at old house in SoFLo and wish I could afford another one up here in central florida where is gets down to 30's and 40's throughout the winter season. Love your channel!!

Carrier Infinity are trash. I have one and because I’m not the original owner it only has a 5 year warranty. Of course I noticed it freezing up and had a carrier service company come out that installed it and they can’t figure it out and carrier won’t warranty it because here in Ny it was installed in April so the warranty ran out in April but I don’t use Ac in April and when we ran it for the first time in late May warranty was expired. In the spring I’m ripping out this crap that was installed new in 2017.
@stevebabiak6997
@stevebabiak6997 Жыл бұрын
@@PipeDoctor - that is a decent warranty, but is that warranty transferable to new owners upon sale of the house?
@arcticcat81
@arcticcat81 Жыл бұрын
That’s what carrier told me that the 10 year warranty is for original owner even know it was installed April 2017 and I bought the house August 2019. So the system was only 2 years old when I bought house and if you put equipment serial number it says 5 year warranty because I’m not the original owner. It just infuriates me with how much these cost that the 10 year warranty wouldn’t extend to new owner. The real kicker is the companies that I called could ask the distributor to cover mine under warranty because it was just out of the 5 year by a few months but they never get back to me. I call and email but nothing.
@arcticcat81
@arcticcat81 Жыл бұрын
Too bad you’re not upstate. The companies that deal with carrier Infinity systems have no clue. I spent over 500 to have them replace the TXV and filter because they have no idea. Furnace part works great but condenser is trash. I was a Carrier fan boy for a long time. I have had 5 carrier systems installed in multiple homes I have owned over the years too.

The stay brite 8 dilemma is a tough one, Im sure it lives up to Harris's test results for tensile strength, burst pressures, liquidity temp, ect. And those are all well suitable enough for any HVAC system by a long shot no doubt, I mean cmon, Harris showed test results where one end of a copper tube was soldered with staybrite 8 and had a 15% braze joint on the other end and did a burst test, the pipe itself burst 1 inch away from the 15% joint do to higher brazing temps weakening the copper tubing around the brazed joint. I believe its a great product, The problems are one: you mentioned the biggest one, fire, theres no doubt the joints will melt and blow out if the units engulfed in fire when the liquidity point is around 500 give or take a little, braze wins there, which i think is the main reason why its actually not an accepted joining method and many local codes DO NOT allow it and many manufactures have specified in IOM's for years brazed joints only, except for mechanical connections obviously, because they dont want components failing from flux entering system, you know how some people like to really get that flux all up in that shit, Flux has two ingredients in it that are both detrimental to refrigerant systems with POE, water and acid, who really knows how much flux gets into the system even when applied very minimally. At the same time though, even with silphos alloys like 5,15% you must use flux when joining copper to brass, and the 45 and 56% alloys must use flux when joining copper to steel on systems, also alluminum brazing on newer coils requires flux as well, so not sure what to think of that argument. But ya the fire thing is a tough one to deny though, refrigerant burning , toxic gasses are deadly , not a good thing

Braze connection using silver bearing or non- silver bearing brazing materials. Do not use solder (materials which melt below 800_F / 427_C). Consult local code requirements. 4.
