Nice to see Peter stepping up his game and getting the job done. Quality work under the supervision of a Master Plumber. I think back to when he first started and can see how much his knowledge has improved. Think he’s going to give his brother a run for his money. Nice job as always, Mikey👍

7:45 Although I do have to call you out a bit (sorry being a bit of a armchair cowboy). I know you preach that to your "interns" and other plumbers to read the manuals. In the Viega installation manual (IM-PP_724607_ProPress_EN.pdf) for ProPress. In section 4.7 they clearly state that: ------- 4.7 Deburring the Tube - Deburr inside and outside of the tube to the proper insertion depths. - Use a wire brush, Scotchbrite pad, sand cloth, or sandpaper to remove loose dirt and rust particles from the pressing area. ------- The deburring of the outside is quite important as it can tear or cut the EDMP o-ring if a sharp edge of copper is there on the outside edge. I know you sanded there which most likely removed any burr on the outside edge. Just busting your chops a bit Mike. Great job, I have seen a number of bronze fittings lately have cracks or pinholes in there when new. I guess quality control isn't so good since C19 hit. That was a pretty good size hole in it! 👍🤠

Correct. I use an inner/outer reamer. The pipe should also be marked so the fittings crimped while fully inserted. Commercial plumber flooded a building when one of his crimps let loose!

my guess on the hole in black tee, there was a solder glob dropped there from the sloppy looking sweat coupling above and it caused it to rapidly corrode through. electrolysis from mixed metallurgy is no joke. 🤪 peter getting better, less backwards tool action. in thirty years from now, he'll get it right most of the time, but now and then DOH! moments will happen. 🤣

Many years ago I read a article on make up water. Install a remote low water cut off and no make up water used. I have been doing it ever since. One trouble with it is you need to get all air out, (new start up or repair) or you will get a call for no heat. Very important to get air out. When system is functioning (no air in system) you get the call for no heat find the low water cut off activated you have a leak somewhere!

I once had to rescue two cats from the air ducts in someone's home. They were having their floors refinished and the noise and chaos scared the cats into an open supply register in one of the bedrooms. They ended up in the supply plenum, I had to crawl under the house and remove a section of duct to allow them to escape. The homeowners guessed that the cats were in there for 3-4 days. Thankfully, the cats were still alive. Tired, hungry, sweaty and pissed off, but still alive.

Maybe you don't debur the pipe/tube all of the time Kudos to Peter for doing it do it enough it should become second hand it appears he has learned from a pro do it right the first time no worries. Yous guys have it easier than when I was doing this kind of work measure pipe cut then hand thread pipe now just use an expensive tool to just clamp down on the fittings sweet.

An uncompromised tree stud is much stronger than a cut wood beam/stud, although not as straight. They used this way back then for load bearing for a reason, not just because it was easier to not cut the tree into straight timber.

Can external calcification weaken copper pipe integrity?
@geneticdisorder1900
@geneticdisorder1900 Жыл бұрын
The outside of copper tubing is mostly affected by the acid in cement. When running tubing under a slab, the copper has to be protected with some type of barrier. Several wraps of duct tape, pipe insulation, plastic covering. Being exposed to the weather, rain, snow,, fresh water doesn’t hurt it. Saltwater, bird poo 💩 chemicals will, over time.

Mikey, I was a Huge fan of the your You tube videos, I understand that the young man that claimed to have had 3 or 4 years of experience when it was evident he did not. But the way you went about it you acted with no patience and very little professionalism. And you posted it and added injury to insult. Why didn’t you just teach him instead of verbally beating him and kicking him out? Why did you not guide him ? For not wiping his feet ? In the meantime I have the 2 new guys at the company watching your videos and they really enjoy you. But you pushed me away with that video. I need to be honest. I’m a vet of 36 years and I teach and train the newer guys. Mike please practice more patience, Your guy Peter is going to be a monster tech and I’m so happy for your company and of course continued success. But let me be angry with you for a few weeks…. I’ll be back…That video really p-$$ed me off. You are better than that… I grew up the same exact way you did in the industry. Now at 56 I’m able to teach and not lose my cool. Please Don’t stand over the “ New guy” you are the boss… it’s automatic pressure. Blessings Mike let ME cool off. Love and respect.
