@MG - Excellent vlog. I've always said that there's no other like a Mirage. I mean, it checks all the boxes.

0:47 you have it wrong - stating the Malibu Mirage was the pressurized version of the Malibu. The implication that the Malibu was not pressurized is incorrect. The Mirage was a change from a Continental 310hp engine, to a Lycoming 350hp engine, and a new wing. The Matrix was the first non-pressurized PA-46.

Not sure what you are claiming. One is Piper Malibu Matrix which is non pressurized, the other is the Piper Malibu Mirage which IS pressurized. They are both Malibu, so nothing he said is incorrect...

It’s not called piper malibu matrix…it’s just called piper matrix
@redbaron68055 сағат бұрын
@@At-fb5kg "The Piper M-Class (PA-46; formerly called the Malibu, Malibu Mirage, Malibu Meridian, and Matrix) is a family of American light aircraft..." You are technically correct, although I think we are splitting hairs here, as the PA-46 Malibu Mirage is the pressurized version of the PA-46 Matrix. If you want to further split hairs, they no longer call the PA-46 versions a Malibu, but refer to them as M350, M500, M600 and M700, as they retired the Malibu, Mirage and Meridian names. Ultimately, the Malibu Mirage and the Matrix have the same engine, with the Matrix being non pressurized. The decision to omit the Malibu name is more of a technicality as the planes are essentially the same sans pressurization.

What on the wing did they change??? Only the m600/700 has a redesigned wing from the original pa46

I always wonder what they do at 15,000 ft in the air in a 4-hr flight and nature calls..

Lady J for the women and wide mouth gator aide bottles for the Gentlemen. Tell the female passengers to wear a skirt. It's so much easier. Most of my Pax had a couple of libations and lost the inhibitions of modesty. Although I did have to land in KCRP on a flight from KDWH to KTXW for a modest female with tight jeans.

You get used to going before you take off. If it becomes an issue, you just land and make a stop. There are typically airports every 100 to 150 miles in the USA in most states.

Kind of like with the Lancair Evolution or the Socata TBM turboprops, they're nearly as fast as the Cirrus Vision, and more like half the fuel consumption rate. (ツ) ☕☕(ツ)
@redbaron680511 сағат бұрын
But the TBM is typically more expensive upfront, around 1.5 million more for a TBM 960. You can rent either one (or at least a 930) for about the same price, roughly $2500 to $3000 an hour...

This is the class of airplane I call a "giveback". If someone gave you one of these free and clear, you would look at the running expenses and immediately sell it, since the costs to use it would be off the charts.

I pay $115 tach for a 172sp wet with auto pilot and modern avionics. I just don’t see how it’s ever going to be feasible to step up to something like this.

Maybe im not understanding something. A 6 seater with a useful load of around 1400 lbs. I'm willing to bet the average person getting into this plane is going to be close to 200lbs, after luggage, that leaves hardly any weight left for fuel. Am I just not getting it? A 3 hour flight and you can only pack on 700lbs... that's not a 6 seater!! More like a 3 seater with a little left over for luggage!
@BLatham-w7t2 сағат бұрын
Send us your list of planes that can fill all seats with 200lbs’ers and full fuel. I’ll wait.
