I like the inversion of a classic trope, normally you try to find your way to the mythic place, here they came from the mythic place and need to find their way back to it. 😄

Yeah, it’s a bit Flight of the Navigator-y where the kids want to escape the rigid confines of their lives and go on an adventure, maybe, but getting back home ends up being their ultimate goal. I do hope that they come back changed and realize there’s something seriously wrong with their planet also

I’m getting a lot of 80’s movies in this, but also Peter Pan, Treasure Island, and Road to El Dorado. I totally see Jude Law as a Long John Silver character and Wim as a Jim Hawkins. Great review!
@kirkdarling412014 күн бұрын
"Captain Silva," of course.
@senorelroboto217 күн бұрын
I'm still suspicious that Jude Law isn't actually a Jedi, but a con man with clever homemade gadgets that he uses to pose as a former Jedi. Like a mini wrist implant tractor beam. Either way, I think he's going to have a Peter Quill kind of background where he got into the pirate's life as a kid.
@trevorls2517 күн бұрын
Same. That, or he is weak / not Jedi trained. The pull on the keys looked shakey for a full Jedi, unless he was doing it for dramatic effect
@manliohernandez390417 күн бұрын
I do have suspicions of this, and I still think that Captain Silvo (from the beginning of the first episode) could very possibly be him

@@manliohernandez3904agreed…he’s the mutinized (is that a word?) pirate captain from the very beginning.

If Jude Law isn’t Obi-Wans brother, it’s such a missed opportunity... not that I NEED Skywalker era connections, but any Obi family connection is a good thing to me!
@deanthemachine887917 күн бұрын
Potentially two options in mind: Jude Law might be faking the Force with like magnets (like Kumail’s character in Obi Wan) OR he just learned how to do a Force trick since it was established in Ahsoka that you don’t need *any* predisposition for the Force to learn how to do shit, you just need a bit of training. I don’t think he’s an actual or lapsed Jedi
@daveb94717 күн бұрын
I'm thinking he may have been given basic Jedi training. I mean, we don't know his age or really any backstory besides the pirate life he had.
@deanthemachine887917 күн бұрын
@ I’m curious if they’re going to keep him as a parallel to Long John Silver (he’s even called “Silvo”) for a full adaptation of Treasure Island

I think what they said is that anyone can BE sensitive to the force, not that anyone can USE it. Kind of like learning the piano, anyone can press the keys, anyone can learn how to press the keys in the right sequence with hundreds of hours of work and a good memory or some people just have the musical gift and can make the music flow and dance, not just rote learning but being able to create and free form. Anyone can play chopsticks with a bit of effort, not everyone can be Chopin.
@Iwillone17 күн бұрын
The key moved way too slowly for it to be magnets and yeah, using the force doesn't mean he's a Jedi or Sith. A lot of people jump to just those options.

I like the fact that SM-33 keeps saying "I can't say I know any At Attin" I have a hypothesis that Disney is testing some of their practical and CGI effects on the series to push the movies to be better.

TBH the key moved in a weird fashion. Kinda like on a string and pulled by a string. May be an effect, may be him being a fake though :)

I just realised that the droid said "Aldhani, that's a sulfurous bog". But we saw Aldhani in Andor, and it isn't... I don't think it's a coincidence. I think this droid is VERY old...
@imthestein17 күн бұрын
In an interview with the showrunners they were asked about the At Attin sounding like an AT-AT joke and they said they didn’t think of that at the time
@kirkdarling412014 күн бұрын
They definitely needed to have dropped both episodes on the same night, just as Andor really needed it, and The Acolyte would have been greatly helped by it. I can't understand why Disney can't figure out where to end an episode. I'm not sure Captain Silvo (cough, cough, "Long John Silver") really has the Force, at least not to a significant extent...otherwise why would he still be in the brig? You said "Smee." Whoa. Captain Hook's first mate was "Mister Smee." My theory: At some point during the Old Republic (but perhaps on the downside of the High Republic era), the droids of At Atlin were given control (or took control) to keep the planet safe at all costs. The droid response was to create a Barrier (planetary cloaking device), control all human activities, and create a "Great Work" facade that is merely "make work" to keep the populace busy. Notice that as soon as the ship crossed the barrier, the droid pilot couldn't even trace their way back to their origin point because the Barrier obscured even that information. Only a cabal of the top humans on the planet know the truth. The ruling cabal may or may not be aware of all the turmoil that's happened during that time, and if they are aware, they'd certainly be convinced that keeping the planet shielded from that turmoil was a good thing.

I really need Jude Law’s character to not be a Jedi. I need him to be a con man, pretending to be a Jedi in order to entice Wim (?), cause like nothing else makes sense. When his crew mutinied all he did was throw hands, and would be beyond ridiculous that he was waiting for a group of kids to escape when he could easily steal the key and a ship with a few Jedi mind tricks.

I like how in the background you see a ship that looks like the original Millennium Falcon. It has the blockade runner body (scaled down) and the Falcon cockpit. They changes because it too closely resembled the ship from the British TV series Space: 1999.

I think it’s too early to know where the show is headed, but I love the foundation they have created thru 2 episodes. Since it’s generally been well received, does it get multiple seasons? Also, is Wym the Skeleton Crew version of Sabine? Does he end up in Rey’s new trilogy? Or a different cast member? Like this season I love and would love to see more but with directors from other Star Wars projects involved does this lead to a crossover?

My current grip is with TV & movie sites only showing the headsots of the actors and not what they actually look like in the TV show / movie. Even searching the actor rarely has their costume shots anywhere near the top by the time of release, even on their Instagram. Not surprised that the algorithm goddess is the visibly horny character...😜
