Davy Jones locker's music is the only theme I remembered from my first viewing of Pirates 2 and 3. Not that those movies' soundtrack are bad, but Klaus Badelt's compositions for the first Pirates movie were much more unique and memorable in my opinion.
In the movie, Davy Jones' locker is a music box, a keepsake from his long lost lover, the goddess Calypso. His track on the OST has four parts, each representing an emotion of the character: first, the music box alone (rememberance), then the same theme with quiet strings (sadness, lament), him playing on his ship's pipe organ with his tentacles (anger), and, finally, a slower version of the music box alone with subtle ominous strings in the background (resignation, revenge).
I really love this theme and had been thinking of doing it for a while. I felt the music box section alone was a bit short (and I REALLY wanted to give the pipe organ section a try), so I ended up trying to arrange the whole track. I hope you'll enjoy the result!
Composed by Hans Zimmer for Pirates of the Caribbeans: Dead Man's Chest (2006).
Arranged for a 30-notes music box using MusicBoxComposer.
NB: Why penguins, you ask? Well, why not? The hippo wanted in too but I had to make a choice, you know!
