Sometimes a song feels like it will easily or obviously work as a music box before I even try to arrange it, and sometimes I just do it out of sheer curiosity. This is the result of the latter. I am a HUGE admirer of Darren Korb's work on the Supergiant Games studio's soundtracks (Bastion, Transistor, Pyre, and soon Hades) which I listen on a regular basis, and of the oh-so-talented Ashley Barrett with whom he often sings. They make an incredible duo together and I long wanted to try to music-box one of their piece as an hommage of sorts.
As for Pyre, it is a 2017 game where your character has been cast away to the Downside, a sort of prison land where you meet a group of other exiles. Together, you will take part to secret Rites to try and find a way to return home... at least for SOME of you. I have not yet finished the game - it's been on hold for some time but I will definitely go back to it someday - and have technically not encountered this song, but I know it is sung by the wandering Lone Minstrel who you will meet at some point on your journey.
The ballad is about, I think, the sea-titan Plurnes and the never-ending raging storm where she was defeated.
