You know... although Disney World is bigger, Disneyland has the better versions of the classic rides in my opinion... Pirates of the Caribbean is like twice as long in Disneyland!
@AdiShoShuperShweet8 жыл бұрын
I believe that's because Disney World's version was "rushed" essentially. They didn't originally intend for it to have a PoTC but because of complaints they built one within a year or two.
@StephanielovesDisney8 жыл бұрын
Yeah that would make sense! Still though you really can't compare World and Land because they really are two different experiences
@ryankomitor73917 жыл бұрын
Stephanie Goblirsch There's a great book on the attraction called "Pirates of the Caribbean: From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies", that goes in depth on the development of the Disneyland, Disney World and Disneyland Paris versions, as well as the first movie. It's surprisingly honest for a Disney sanctioned book. First, the attraction began life as the "Pirate Wax Museum", which basically was based out of Walt Disney's boyhood love for pirates, and many of the sequences planned were utilized in the final ride. It became a float through due to a whole host of convoluted reasons, but a major one was the success of the Lincoln animatronic at the Worlds Fair, as well as "It's A Small World". Since they had already built a space for the Wax Museum they decided to utilize it as the first grotto (hence why there's 2 drops). Evidently, besides the rushed nature of the ride's construction, the Imagineers who worked on the Disney World version (many of whom had also worked on the original) were fans of certain elements, particularly the ending going up a waterfall (created out of necessity) not to mention the lower water table in Florida, which rendered that impossible regardless. I do think that, having ridden both, the Disneyland version is superior, especially in its pacing compared to its Disney World counterpart.
@Eternaldarkness31666 жыл бұрын
I don't compare myself, I enjoy both of them just as much.

maybe it’s just me but the banjo music is scary! I feel like part of it is knowing that up here, everything’s quiet but down below there’s guns blasting every which way and tons of noise. It’s like sinister but calming at the same time. And if you pay close attention to the notes, he’s actually playing the pirates theme song. The part that goes “yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me” :)

As soon as I hear that guy's voice at the beginning, I swear I could hear the water and everything. I might be one of the few people of my generation that saw the ride before it got the upgrade to look more like the movies. This ride will always be my favorite in Disneyland.
