The humility at the end by Mr. Pete was soooo great and sincere . Wow... You never see that anymore

Two points about this HORSE series: One: what if these players had had to play "one on one"? Who could have come close to Pete? Two: Maravich was told to "take it easy and keep it close" by network television. True

Very interesting Charles, in other words Maravich wasn't pulling all of the trick shots that he had up his sleeve during this tournament otherwise it wouldn't even have blown away the competition.

Pete was definitely holding back, not showing his full bag of tricks.

Maybe Kyrie with his arsenal of layups & dribble moves could've gave Pete a run for his money. I'm still taking PISTOL!

In three different videos now I have seen Maravich do a simple scoop shot from five feet away from the basket. The amazing thing is all 3 players couldn't make that shot!

There will never be a player like Pete again no one has the fanatical dedication that he displayed it was like the whole globetrotter team melted down and put into this white guy. No one who ever played the game could stop him. I harassed my dad to take us to baton rouge to see him play from my hometown in Texas about 275 miles and the things I saw still blow my mind 50 years later. Dale Brown the LSU coach later on after Pete marked where every shot he took if there was a 3 point line and Pete would have averaged 57 points a game for 3 years!! I defy any one to even do that against a bad high school team and if you were a good college player cant be done. A true phenomenon.

Maravich was the truth, the best ball handler and trick shot artist of all time. Maravich made a career of breaking ankles. He made it all look so easy. Rip Pistol.

Pistol Pete was so much fun to watch. Be it in a game of horse or a regular game of 5 on 5. I'm currently reading a book on Pete called Pistol by Mark Kriegel. Great book on a GREAT player.
@SuperStrik911 жыл бұрын
Pistol's the best HORSE player of all time. Guy could do so many trick shots it was SCARY! If you watch the entire HORSE competition from that year it looks as if Pete's beating his opponents without even trying. Incredible!

If pete is still the scoring champion this was in 77 or 78. He took it from bob macado. But boy, He wasn't hot here, but 'Bubbles' was really cool in his day, real cool.

He does those same shots because the onject is to win these games of horse and his opponents can't shoot them as well as he. But he can shoot as well as whatever his opponents tried. Maybe they should have practiced something other than your regular shots.

Who is Bubbles Hawkins? Seems unfair, some unknown guy against the Pistol. Maybe he was good back then. Too bad no Randy Smith, Tiny Archibald, Earl Monroe, Jerry West, Walt Frazier, Slick Watts, JoJo White, or Charlie Scott. It would have been great to see Ernie D in there. What does "...players selected on basis of free shooting" mean? At least Ice Man was in there. They should have put all name brand players in there for more audience. Pistol was taking it easy on this guy.
