I thought, when I read the title, that this would be an actual demonstration of ports/comps against non ported counterparts. About half way in I realized it was a commercial for your guy that ports barrels. Dont forget there are guys out there like Magnaport that have doing this work over 40 years. I’ve got several guns, both semi auto and revolvers, that have been magnaported, and all turned out perfect. Custom work is great, at any proficiency level, just do your homework to make sure your gun is in good hands.

So you get mad and say its a comercial and then basically create a add im the coment section see how that works?

I also swear by for both the Griffin micro carry comp and PMM comp. I've never had a single malfunction with either running random boxes of 9mm ammo, I've tried all grains. I did not need to change my recoil spring (stock OEM glock spring). I tried a few other brands and had a lot of issues, but those two are awesome.

Great video and topic. I am a believer in the "thread protector" style comp. Have been running HB Industries on a CZ P09 for many years and can tell a difference for sure.

I've owned one ported pistol, that fire shooting up by the sights was disorienting. Was a very nice pistol with a lot of custom work. Traded it for a 1970 Ford f250 4x4, was a good trade.

The PMM micro comp and barrel has been a great addition to my p365xl. Shoots much more like a full sized gun.

I bought the Canik Mete SFT Pro which already came with slide cuts and have a port job done on it and it shoots phenomenal. The trigger don't he Canik is the same trigger on the rival and the TTI Combat and I only spent 480 for the gun and 80 for the porting. Couldn't be happier.

If you run a thread on/set screw style comp, they can and will back off, and that can cause serious issues, and even damage the slide and barrel. My last B&H class, I had to swap to my backup handgun until we took a break and I could sort the malfunction out on my primary. Getting off the range and going back to my truck to swap cost me more than a few reps. And in the real world, you probably won't get a chance to "go back to the truck" and you can lose more than training reps. Because of that, I've since switched to a Griffin micro comp on that particular PDP, it's less effective than the full sized comp, but I TRUST it, and the worst thing that could happen is the Griffin comp just falls off, it won't effect cycling or damage anything. I'd also trust the PMM shimmed comp/barrel combos, and the Radian (or Shadow Systems style) non-threaded comps. I ran the proper thread locker and torqued to manufacturer suggested specs, and it had weeks to cure. There's just a lot of heat and vibration working against tiny set screws and the barrel threads themselves. And always bring a spare rifle or pistol to a class if you have it available. 😉

Of the two, I prefer comps. What I tell ppl is with both you will notice a difference in recoil, its not dramatic, and if you are a person who already manages recoil well, you will probably perceive it less. Neither are necessary, but I have no issues with them on my range guns.

If you cut ports right after the chamber. YOU WILL LOOSE VELOCITY. That is basic physics. That is how the og mp5sd worked. It would bleed off Gas immediately to make suppers into subs. Subs were not an option yet and not used reliably or widely yet.

I really saw a difference on my follow up shots. Either the Ramjet on my 19x, to the ports in my 365XMacro, or the Griffin Micro Comp on the M&P. The difference is just too repeatable to ignore. I think you are going to see ports become the standard on carry guns before too long. They already are at Concealed Carry Matches. Like Ben said, it's not so much "taming" the recoil of 9mm, but getting every edge you can to place fast accurate shots. Also: You should fire that camera guy. Way too shaky 😁

😂 right? All this praise for the new hotness is the hated on ideas of yesteryear. Para, Bul, SA running double stacks. Aluminum, steel and polymer frames. Glock had the C versions. Loved my Glock 19C and 32C. Hell, RIA did the double stack 1911 in 9mm with a 22TCM swap kit.

Ported revolvers came out in the 90’s, and you’re right double stacked 1911’s came out in the 90’s with ParaOrdance. You could even get comped revolvers…. Sorry no modern day social media influencer on Yootoob came up with these ideas..

@@Tony_Seed it makes perfect sense. if you port the barrel and slide energy (gas and noise) comes out of the ports, to push the slide down to reduce muzzle flip. that is the point of ports. whereas with a compensator screwed on the end of the barrel, you simply unscrew the compensator and attach a suppressor.

Would a 10mm glock need a 10mm comp, or would a 40 comp do the same?
@ThrashTillDeth85

40 and 10mm are the same diameter, the only problem is finding a comp for those calibers on the market since most companies only make 9mm ones

You lose an average of 5% of velocity. For those not mathematically inclined, a 124 grain at 1150 fps will net you around 1092 fps.

@blackout.ghost718 - yeah, OK, hard corps. A “muzzle” on a rifle, normally called a flash hider, flash suppressor or muzzle break, was designed to disperse the flash and to help control muzzle rise during automatic fire. It’s 9mm so I will continue to laugh.
@ACGBLR
@ACGBLR 2 ай бұрын
@@fanman8102 I haven’t seen anyone say 9mm is heavy recoil for the general populace (I have heard some women say this for themselves or those with bad wrists). Most do these ports or comps to achieve higher performance. Making the gun do as much work, so they can focus more on other items. Such as my wife doesn’t shoot as much as me, so I have comps on her 9mm pistols. You can continue to laugh at your straw-man argument, whatever makes you happy I guess.

@@ACGBLR - OK. I get you may want to have a comp on your wife’s pistol. What other things do I need to focus on? I can understand competitive shooting where tenths of a second makes a huge difference but what else? My advice, instead of purchasing a ported barrel or compensator, is to train with a Shield 40SW or a snub nose 38Special (both can be had for around $200) so when you switch back to a G19 or G17 type pistol you won’t notice the recoil.
@ACGBLR
@ACGBLR 2 ай бұрын
@@fanman8102How about we train with the gun we carry instead of other models? Again, even in this video, most are not getting the ports to tame the “uncontrollable recoil” from a 9mm. It is a performance upgrade. If you ever get into a gunfight, it is the ultimate competition and there are no competition rules. So why not arm yourself with the best performing weapon you can get? If you can, you should shoot a bill drill with a stock gun vs comp or ported then compare times and groups. The comp/ported will shine over the stock.
