MG3, Fitting A Performance Exhaust.

Fitting a John Woods 2" stainless performance exhaust to my MG3. Will it make a difference?

Yeah they are. People slag them off because they're made in China, but so is everything else! The people that slate them are the one's that's never owned one.

@@pistonbroke Dads' had his from new (admittedly only a year) he hated his Corsa for the light, twitchy steering, the Polo was a lovely car but he was stitched up needing a belt change 5 months after buying from the main dealer and asking if it needed done, the CitiGo clutch release bearing started playing up, then he bought this bright yellow Excite - we all love it. The old school feel is a positive, not a negative

I understand that the catalyser is just below the exhaust manifold. Have you done a video on how to replace the catalyser? Is a job that can be done at home? How much is a new catalyser, on average?

@@derekporter7651 Cat and manifold are all in one. I haven't done a video on this specifically but if you go through my vids there's a few part series where I strip the engine, can't remember if I filmed removing the manifold or not but it may give you an idea. Anything can be done at home, all depends on what you're capable of. No idea on cost.

Alright pal, was wondering if you could advise on buying one of these. Probably looking at 14-15 plate 3style on finance. Im fairly handy with spanners but don't fancy spending every weekend working on a car. If i got one with fsh and no more thank 50k on the clock would you say risk it for a biscuit or will i be shelling out regular? Secondly can these be pepped up to say 130bhp without to much hassle? Thanks in advance.

Try and get the lowest mileage one you can find with full history preferably no earlier than 2016. Reliabilty wise they're pretty good but they do have common faults.... timing chains on pre 2016 cars, radiator leaks, water leaks into footwells and clutch issues. I've covered some of these issues in other videos. They are a piece of piss to work on though. There are places that'll remap these but I'm not sure of the gains.

It does make a difference higher up in the rev range, not huge but noticable. Definitely worth doing if you plan on remapping the ecu as it helps the engine to breathe better. Cost wise they are about £350. I bought this one second hand for £100.
