Hahaha ohyeahh you can do tons of mods to the yx160cc engines. I just got another one in brand new to start working on. Im gonna be making a video of doing the Tb parts V2 head upgrade on the stock bore and see how much of a difference just the head and a bigger carb makes. Going from a YX150cc with high compression Tb parts piston to the 160cc with V2 head and stock piston. In the future we’ll probably do a big bore kit but for now gonna keep the engine 160cc … i appreciate that man thank you! More videos to come now that warm weather is coming back around 🤘🏼

@@JesseK410 sounds great bro! You’re based in the states im guessing? 🇺🇸 I’ve heard good things about the 150 motor.. notifications are on, so I’ll be told when the vid drops. & yeah man the new seasons just round the corner so time to get active again! I’ve always had 2 strokes.. never had a 4stroke or a pit bike before.. so rather than the obvious difference & disappointment I know I will feel with a stock 140 boxed & shipped bike.. I’ve been doing a lot of researching & I think a 160 is gonna be sufficient to begin with. Hoping to go with the 190daytona once I’ve had my fun with the 160 engine. You got discord or anything bro?

@@viiviqa yessir im based in USA 🇺🇸… the yx160 is a great motor for sure (check valve lash when you get it). Im also a 2 stroke guy thats where it all started with me, Suzuki JR. 50! Haha. last 2 strokes i had were yz125 and yz250 an wish i never sold em 🤣💨 Yeah absolutely i feel like you would be happy with the power of the 160cc engine and its a good bottom to build off for when it comes time to do mods. The daytona 190cc are rippers but not as reliable as the yx engines are unfortunately and to keep them engines reliable your best bet is to keep them stock and just build the head if anything..

@@JesseK410 the best country in the world 🇺🇸 where you’re still allowed to have fun. 😂💯 and now that you mention it.. a lot of people on forums have been saying the same thing about the Daytona.. they say it’s unreliable & high maintenance ASF! One thing I noticed is that on a track.. with 2 good riders.. the only real difference between the 160 & 190 is torque. Which as any racer knows is more important on a track than top speed anyway. but I’d rather the reliability tbh.. 💭💯 appreciate the heads up. I think I’ll stick with a yx160 & build it up when I’m ready now you shown the bore kits that are available too. You gotta love a 2stroke bro! 😂💯 they just hit different! The 250 2 strokes were an animal. Shame they aren’t too big nowadays. I’m currently on a 2020 Ktm125sx, had an 85 before that & a 65 before that. Love 2 strokes! But it’s time to try something else. 👌🏼

@@viiviqa hellyeah dude love to hear it! 2 strokes for life and YX160 for the win on the pitters 🤣🏁✊🏼 i think the yx201cc i built might make more HP than the daytona 190 does but i duno for sure but its gotta be real close if not an the yx engines much lighter an way easier to come by the parts. Daytona sucks for getting parts, everything always out of stock or over seas an doesn’t ship to the USA often.

Nice job! Similar to what I'm doing to a 2011 Yamaha TTR110. I opened up the cases so the 143cc big bore kit would fit - Had to hone the cylinder to size as there was only .0005" of clearance and a motor of that size should have .0015"-.002" and now it does and the ring end gap is perfect at .009" and I also noticed the piston comes short of the top of the cylinder by 3.21mm(.126") so we will mill down the cylinder by at least 2mm to gain all the compression it can take. Got the big valve head and stage 3 cam on the way. I will then "clay" the head to make sure the valves don't get too close to the piston crown! Eliminated the electric starter motor(made a nice cover to fill in the hole in the case), Ditched the battery, solenoid and all non needed extras', removed the starter clutch from the back side of the flywheel to make it lighter for less rotational mass (helps with quicker RPM's). Got a Big Gun pipe, 22mm carb with big intake manifold, gonna use the BBR U-turn air box eliminator and put the DNM rear shock, BBR fork springs with longer damper rods, BBR tall seat, Tall bars, new plastics with graphics. Replacing those heavy chrome plated steel rims with aluminum ones. She's gonna rip. This is a really cool job that myself and my Outdoor Powersports student are doing this winter, Bill Ross Maine Region 10 Technical High School
@JesseK410
@JesseK410 6 ай бұрын
Oh thats gonna be a sweet project right there for sure Bill! I love to hear it. I think if you’re doing a 143cc a 26mm carb would be your best bet the 22mm carb is to small for that engine build in my opinion the 26 would be better. Other than that the build sounds like its going to be a total Rippa 💪🏼

Did you happen to check how far your piston set inside of the cylinder? Mine was almost 3mm from flush. We felt like it should be closer to flush. The bike runs good , but the compression doesnt feel near the same of the stock engine. Much easier to kick over now. It can be turned over by hand. It feels strong, i just think im no where near the 11:5:1 thats claimed.
@JesseK410
@JesseK410 9 ай бұрын
So yeah the TB cylinder are a lil taller than stock, so thats why but you can just run no base gasket an do RTV if you wanna get the compression up. To be honest this thing has crazy compression no way i could turn it over by hand. The last 201cc engine i build had ridiculous compression too lol…your valve adjustment could be off causing the valve to hang open an blow off compression

@JesseK410 the valves are adjusted at .003 intake and exhaust just like it says. I've checked them after the build and after the break in. I just went riding and it broke... pretty sure it's the timing chain. I had to loosen the timing chain tensioner to install the cam sprocket so it was much tighter than stock...

You need to buy the kit that has the rectifier or voltage regulator so that wont happens, long as your bike is equipped with a lighting stator than you should be good to go, like i said just need the kit, i got one off ebay years ago that came with everything and yeah it plugged into the yellow wires if i can remember correctly..this was on a SSR 125 i had a headlight on that ran off the bike not a battery…

since using the kicker starter can damage the carter, can I just take it off? so i reduce weight and maybe gain some torque?
@JesseK410

Theoretically yes, but i dont think its worth the hassle. If anything just take off the kick starting lever..the gear inside doesn’t weight much an it moves independently of the shaft so all you would be doing is lighting up the engine slightly but like i said not worth the hassle in my opinion

The YX160 is definitely a better engine overall especially if you wanna build it into something bigger than a 160cc. The yx140cc engine you can only bore out so big bc of the size of the bore on the cases, it wont allow for a bigger cylinder like you can do on the YX160cc engines.. if you bore the cases on the 160cc engine you can go as big as 67mm piston making it a 201cc. I have heard of people doing a longer rod and making it over 201cc but thats putting a lot of strain on the transmission so the biggest bore ill mess with is the 201cc witch is honestly more than enough power to get the job done and also hurt yourself if you’re not careful on such a small bike haha
