The flat top gets incredibly hot. The temperature dial goes up to 750, but we've always started using it before it got that hot. We've had it to 600 though, and that was after about 10 minutes of starting it up and letting it roll.

@@TheBarbecueLab awesome. I appreciate you getting back to me. one last question. can you remove the flat top and sear steaks or cook burgers?? if so, how hot does that get??
@TheBarbecueLab4 жыл бұрын
@@thegalleryBBQ Yes, you can remove the griddle and put in the provided heat tents and grill grates to turn the right side into a propane gas grill. It's a 3 burner grill, so I would compare the heat from it to most 3 burner grills that you would find on the market.

Thinking about picking up this Combo do I store it outside covered or in the garage?
@TheBarbecueLab3 жыл бұрын
I’ve done both, and either works. Only problem I had was keeping it out of the way in the garage. Outside was the best for long term with a cover here for us.

Needs a little bacon on the burgers. How big a propane tank?
@TheBarbecueLab4 жыл бұрын
Bacon is a good idea John. For the propane tank, it's a standard 20lb tank.

Any issues with the grill at this point? Does it hold temps well? I’ve read you can’t get a good smoke flavor on this machine. Has that been your experience???
@TheBarbecueLab4 жыл бұрын
The only issue we've had to date was with the igniter, but it was covered under our warranty and they just sent us a new igniter to solve the problem. Any pellet smoker we've tested has given less smoke flavor than a smoker that uses wood splits or charcoal, but the new PID controller in this unit seems to be very efficient. It uses less pellets than comparable pellet grills at the same temperature, but that can also result in less smoke flavor than a non-PID controller might have. If we're cooking something that we want a stronger smoke flavor on, we'll throw on a pellet tube as well to increase the flavor.

Does the pellet grill side have a smoke setting?
@TheBarbecueLab4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it has a smoke setting, and we've been told that it's set between 180 and 200 to let the fan help the pellets "smolder" longer to deliver more smoke to the cooking chamber.

Looks like it's published on Walmart now, but it's conveniently out of stock, lol

Nice video. With their new PID controller, did you notice the set temp holding and not having temperature swings?
@TheBarbecueLab4 жыл бұрын
This grill doesn't have temperature swings like my Austin XL does, that's for sure. I love my XL, but there is a temp inconsistency that pops up that's hard to ignore. In the KC Combo, I put an oven thermometer in the pellet chamber, and it's within 25 degrees every time. Most times, I would say it's within 10 degrees, so I'm super happy with the consistency of the new PID controller.
