UPDATED: Jul 30, 2021 (If anybody's confused as me and wanted to do a whole octave pitch bend, here are the steps!!) Pitch Bend using Automation - Double-check the notes on Piano Roll if they are right - Audio FX > Audio Units > Apple > AUPitch - Turn on Automation - On the left where it says "Volume", click and change to "AUPitch: Pitch" - Optional: Change the Secondary Tool to "Automation Curve Tool" to make the notes gradually play (curved line) instead of going fast (straight line) *Hopefully I helped!!! Watch the video first before reading this to not get more confused.*

whers audio FX?
@SoundEngraver3 жыл бұрын
@@JinxxBeats Hi Jinxx, it looks like I don't have this as an option on my version of Logic Pro. I only have Audio FX for my Audio tracks, not MIDI, so if I want to dynamically control the Pitch Bend more than a semitone, I'll need to bounce my MIDI instrument as an audio file.

UPDATE: A full value of 62 plus or minus resolves the issue. Now it works great!! THANK YOU!! ❤The pitch bend feature you showed me does not work despite the option I used says Pitch Bend. Rather it acts lake a tremolo bar on an electric guitar. The graph under the note I need to bend/slide down a fifth indicates I have down just that. But it's not sliding the pitch downwards, even when I take it to the extreme. It sounds more like a chorus effect. Any idea what gives?
@SoundEngraver2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for listening! I have no idea on the tremolo or chorus effect. I recently did a video on pitch bending up or down 4 octaves. Do you that will help?

Thank you found this helpful, but how would you bend to a specific note, Life G to A?
@SoundEngraver8 ай бұрын
I think you'd have to find the relationship between G and A with the audio unit, cents (not Hertz). 100 cents is a semitone. So, you'd need to go up from G to A by 200 cents. Hope this helps. I have another video in my Logic Pro playlist where I cover a stock plug-in that does just that.

This tutorial is just what I'd hoped to find. Bravo Sound Engraver! I have a question: Is there a way to get the graphically drawn-in data converted to midi data with all the pitch bend "commands" showing up in the list editor. I discovered that when I reduced the height of the pitch-bended (to save space) the sound was all changed and not for the better. It was so damaged that I had to start over in the pitch-bent region.
@SoundEngraver2 жыл бұрын
Hi, John. Thank you for watching! I'm glad it's helped some. On automation data converted to midi data, do you mean bouncing it as a new MIDI Track? I'm also not sure what you mean reducing the height of the pitch bend. Hope I can help you solve this other part.
@johnrock62412 жыл бұрын
@@SoundEngraver If by "bouncing" you mean generating an audio file, then no. Couldn't find anything about bouncing to a new midi track, that sounds good, if you mean the bounce would send pitch bend data (visible in the list editor) to the new track, then yes. But I can't find anything on bouncing to a midi track in the manual, though it sounds like it might be what I need. Please advise on that or refer me to a resource on how that is done. As to reducing the height of the pitch bend, I only mean reducing the height of the track and region - so that more tracks are visible on-screen for the user. After I shrink down the track & region, the sound changes drastically and cannot be fixed. But if the pitch bend data were permanently written to the list editor as the pitch bend curve is being drawn (which is not what happens), the sound would remain unchanged regardless of the track height.

hello, thank you for your video on pitch automation. do you know how much the pitch changes for each unit? or how many units it takes to get a change of one semitone, two, etc.? I'm trying to bend up by a whole step
@SoundEngraver3 жыл бұрын
By unit, do you mean the numbers, -63 to 0, and 0 to 63? All the way up to 63 is either up 1 or 2 semitones (half step or whole step), and all the way down to -63 is either down 1 or 2 semitones. I can't remember off the top of my head. If you can't do a whole step, a half step is probably the biggest distance between each MIDI data. If I find how to do that, I'll post something.

Do you know how can I automate only the pitch bend after I have recorded the region (clip) with the Pitch Wheel? I have tried using Touch automation but I was not able to do it that way, can it be done?

I have the same question. I want to "draw in" the pitch bend in the piano roll w/o manually using the pitch wheel.
@serpieromusic3 жыл бұрын
@@pyphus Hi! So I kept searching for an answer and I found it, if you’re into logic you should visit the Reddit logic_studio profile. I found an answer almost immediately! Anyways, if you want to draw it without using the pitch wheel or any knob map to it, you will press A to open up the automation mode, then, to the right off the R (record button) you will see that it usually is in track mode, you will have to put it in region mode. Then right down there you have the automation modes (read, touch, etc). Put it on Read, and then search for the Pitch Bend control (to the side of the automation modes) open up the drop down menu, it’s in the subgroup MIDI, right down the Note Velocity, and that’s it. You can also do this inside the region itself. You will see the automation mode in the bottom left corner! I hope this helps you.

Hi James! You're welcome! Could you clarify what you mean by erasing the midi data? Are you talking about the automation data? Do you mean to smoothen it out after recording?
@butlerjames19742 жыл бұрын
@@SoundEngraver Hi! Thanx for responding! So I recorded a patch that I used pitch bend for. I later erased the notes in that part of the region to record different notes. The pitch bend stayed though and affected the new notes. I'm just trying to erase the pitch bend information.

@@butlerjames1974 Oh, I see. In those cases, I usually straighten the automation line (bright green) to the neutral value 0. Keep in mind, I have a pretty old version of Logic Pro, so it might function differently. I hope this helped. Feel free to ask anything more.
