I love these. I bought mine during covid19 (yes prices are inflated big time) I liked them so much i got another another pair. People don’t let them being wide stop you from getting these. You can do any type of workout with them and you have options so if you push yourself you will get gains using them and to me they make working out fun.

Meng Xu you don’t have to buy barbell until you want to. You can do everything with the dumbbells.

Great review. And then there is the moment you realize that Bowflex 552 dumbbells are retailing for over 550 USD in Europe. :/ I would buy them in a heartbeat for 289$.

These are some of the best out there in the market! Gyms closed again! This time I bought a set of the 552's Weights and adjustable bench and Canceled my Gym membership. Great part of all this super space saver. Bowflex has a handy workout booklet you get with the weights. Look around there pricey but worth every penny!

I did the exact same! I got the 552s a few days ago and I think that's it for my gym membership. Just waiting on my Bowflex C6 stationary bike... 3 month wait!!!

the 1090s are 289 for one but close to 600 for the set brah.

Many thanks, I have been researching "low weight dumbbell set" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Hanristian Pectorial Humdinger - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my cousin got amazing success with it.

Bowflex is really ugly ... I prefer powerblock but it’s 12 kg dumbbell price is the same as my Bowflex 24 dumbbell set.. I paid for Bowflex ( the ugly little thing ) for 330 USD.

I’ve got the golds gym switch plate 100s. I paid 200$ and it comes with the stand. I think they are superior to the bowflex but they no longer make them unfortunately.

Is it possible to use lifting straps with the Bowflex dumbbells ? The main issue I think would be that when you need to tightly grip the straps, you rotate the dumbbell, but the Bowflex has uneven weight distribution and always must be held with the red handle at the top. Has anyone tried lifting straps ?

Mine are LOCKED ON MAX WEIGHT. I CANT GET THE WEIGHT TO CHANGE. DONT KNOW HOW IT LOCKED UP BUT HOW DO I FIX IT

Chuck Edgerton dude that’s not good. That happened to me when movers moved my older selecttech set. I would call up bow flex and get tips from them. Basically what has happened is that you or someone else have either accidentally forced it in or out while being in between clicks. Or at least that’s my guess.

Should of purchased the Powerblocks. I don't hear anything about them failing and they are built to last. No cheap plastics and they are not a mile wide!! 🤣🤣

You're pricing the weights wrong, For the hex dumbells, those prices are for each, not the pair. Also, for the 1090s, those are for each as well, not the pair.

If you select 20 on all the dials you have 40 pounds in each hand for a total lift of 80 pounds with both hands. With this dumbbell you get a maximum of 26.25 pounds per side of the dumbbell for a total of 52.5 pounds on each dumbbell. So with two dumbbells you have a 105 pound weight set. Bowflex offers offer a heavier set that gives you 90 pounds per dumbbell for a 180 pound weight set.

Can you set one dumbbell to a heavier weight on one side, or do they have to match? For example, could I have 5lbs on one side and 35lb on the other?

Yes you can! You can do wrist rotation exercises if you wanted to. Would probably help for someone rehabing (if that's a word) a wrist.
