Considering Lighting McQueen is a stock car that is finely tuned for racing in a tri-oval and not at all for economy cruising, I like to imagine in between episodes how frequently he has refuel compared to Mater. It gets a little more fun trying to imagine the bickering they would have.

Mater is also a lot older, with a motor that has lower compression and seemingly leaking exhaust. Not to mention he's a truck so aero is worse. All things considered they probably have similar fuel economy.

This show is rather fine, as over the top as some of the episodes are, i do like how there's certain locations like Boneville Salt Flats, Circus Velocitas, The Badlands, and Mater's family home, that adds perspective to the World of Cars. Its fun to see Lightning McQueen and Mater's chemistry expanded on.

If I'm correct, I believe the first episode is the first time Pixar used lower frame rates if not 2nd with that Pixar short Purl. Purl and the other balls of yarn look like they have lower frame rate than the humans

Honestly, I think that this is a really fun series! I dunno, its more fun than cars 2. Its nice to see how different cars do different things, and McQueen and Mater's relationship is so wholesome to me (minus cars 2), like when the pair first go tractor tipping, them laughing is just so, again, wholesome.

While the show has... issues by being WAY too over-the-top (haunted mansion episode), I think I gel with this show better than, let's say, Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight. Mainly because while the latter tries to be as distant from the movie series as possible with many absent movie characters, Cars on the Road reminds us that the characters we meet are all still there, even for one episode. As for episode 3, I can see this as the culmination of McQueen's complete development from Cars 3. If this was Cars 3 Lightning, he would've WANTED to take the offer just to out-speed Storm, even if it's extremely stupid (and he was stupid already to play a mud derby).

I think this is not skippable, because we're not getting a lot of content of just mater and mcqueen in Cars 2 and Cars 3, we get in depth of their friendship and togetherness that cars fans wanted. And actually imo great character development in here, McQueen really barely get mad and so kind to Matter, he's more acceptance of who Mater and what is Mater lifestyle, meanwhile.....Mater still Mater, but in these episodes he getting more self-realization and sometimes he's getting anxious, which kinda rare to see Mater's anxiety.

I feel more work could of been done this 5-6/10 series of Shorts. Add foreshadowing to Getting Hitched/The Finale(Views of Maters Family, Cruz to Episode 3, give Ivy more Screen Time, Make the Trucks in Episode 6 a Band Called Trucks) Episode Ranks: 9. Hunted Hotel (2) 8. Show Time (5) 7. Getting Hitched (Final) 6. Big Foot (4) 5. Road Rumblers (8) 4. B-Movie (7) 3. Dino Park (1) 2. Salt Fever (3) 4:43 1. Trucks (6) Catchy Song Also this show is trying to forget Cars 2&3’s Character Arc (Mater wants to go Fast, Lighting McQueen becoming Cruz’s Mentors) just remove those and you got a 6.5/10 show of shorts.
