I watched the movie with my 5 year old. After that i saw my daughter's mood changes quickly and she lets herself screem or be sad or be disgust with almost no limits. When I told her she can have control over her emotions she told me no, there are things in her head that tell her what to do and she can't change it. It is not her, it is them. Then I noticed where the problem is coming from and tried to explain that inside out is just a movie and it is not real. She can have control over her emotions. She can have control over everything. She is the one in charge. Not the talking voices in her head. One of my friends also told me the same thing. She told me her daughter, also 5, had problems at school which again she said it is not me, someone in my head tells me what to do, her mom didn't let her watch inside out again and the problem goes away and her daughter goes back to herself.

My biggest takeaway from the movie was that Riley had constructed her self-image to look like a snowflake. Children and narcissists do this, they selectively remember only what confirms their self-image. Pivotal in the movie, as Riley matured she began to judge herself based on her actual actions the way an adult does
