The Pixel overheating worries me. 4k is intensive for sure but it wasn't even recording outside with the sun shining on it. My current phone has a SD820 and it tends to throttle simply while browsing the web. Kinda stupid. If the 4a that I preordered shows any signs of throttling during normal use I'll have to return it.

Sunlight doesn't really make it overheat maybe slightly but its the chip inside. It was already heating up because the intensive stuff he was running so if u just took it out of your pocket to record you should be fine

Just got my Pixel 4a the other day, put it to the test. 7:00AM yesterday morning, removed phone from charger at 100%, used it as how I would normally use my smartphone. Heptic feedback on (all), Dark mode off, 50% brightness, used to take some shots and videos at work (school trip, I'm a teacher), posted, browse on Facebook, IG, chat some friends, listen to some music on my way to work, after work and on my way back home and played some vids on YT. As I'm typing right now, "screen usage since full charge" is 5 hours and 52 minutes, it's 12:30AM right now and the battery still got 12% of juice. Yeah, the battery is great on this one!! Good job, Google!!❤️

The pixel was always going to win lol OLED screen and a larger battery! That being said the iPhone did amazingly given its hardware! The pixel preformed pretty low end for its specifications. That being said it is a $350 device so you get what you pay for.

I have this SE. I am not a gamer or youtuber. My battery have 2 days life. I migrate from Huawei Mate 10 Pro and Galaxy Note 9. After allmost 2 years Android start to have lag and all updates to drain battery. I SO LOVE this iPhone SE. It is good,have wireless charging and I like this.If I need to use the phone at his maximum processor power, then I can use it very easy. But I am a normal user, talking and keeping in my pocket.

Crackers269 I'm sure a slightly bigger battery wouldn't cost Apple too much money. They are a $2 trillion company anyways. Actually any smartphone product I saw would fully utilize all the space within the device. Same goes for Apple so that means there has to be other components taking up space which would otherwise be the space for an extended battery. I think the component would be the wireless charging which the pixel does not have. Also I think the physical home button components are also taking up space as well in the iPhone leaving limited space for battery in the iphone. The only way the SE can squeeze out the most battery life is through software optimization.

I think the Pixel 4a was overheating because it's back was flat on a table and there wasn't much room for heat to dissipate. My current phone gets really hot when recording even 1080p, and when it's on a table like that it overheats. Also, the reason that didn't happen to the iPhone is that it's made of Aluminum and metals conduct heat better obviously, and that allows for a larger surface for heat to dissipate, which is pretty smart ngl. I'm still choosing the Pixel 4a over the iPhone though lmao.

I am impressed with the iPhone SE but I think Apple truly understood what the $400 market needs and I think there are very few people that would pick raw power over battery life in the $400 market. Maybe I'm wrong but from first hand knowledge most people in the $400 price range would take a decent performing phone, with a good camera with a good battery, fast charging and cheap repairs over amazing performance, good camera with mediocre battery, slow charging and expensive repairs.

SE performed better than I expected but I keep seeing reviews saying in normal use you'd need to charge it twice to make it last a day,which really isn't good enough these days when most Android users don't need to carry a charger around as they had to a few years back. If Samsung, Motorola,Huawei etc tried selling a new model phone with that kind of battery life they'd get slaughtered.Apple get away with a lot of things because they're Apple. I've had 2 iPhones,the first one had problems getting a signal in places my first Smartphone...a ZTE of all things,didn't so no good to me,the second was an old model SE which was lovely but terminated in a very minor drop.

@@sameerstarrer Yeah battery life on old iPhones is jus abysmal, the 6s has higher battery drain with ios 14 for example. There phones are generally used by people thta just need a phone and thta's it. There are a lot of people thta use older Android phones, they just don't brag about it online like apple fanboys. The 4a will go strong for at least 4 years without any issues.

Why were you surprised about this result? The Pixel has a battery that is about 50% bigger so imaging anything other than the Pixel lasting longer would be surprising! As it stands I thought 5h for 1800mah was very impressive and more than most Exynos Note 20 Ultra's are getting!!! The Pixel should have got about 7.5h SOT based on battery size, so a bit disappointing though 3h SOT is my daily max so both would easily be great for me.

Funkentelechy it is 2020 and a slightly bigger screen and resolution makes little difference to battery and the iPhone has a more powerful SoC which will cancel any benefit from the screen and resolution.

@@andyH_England While impressive for an 1800mAh battery, it still begs the question as to why they didn't put in a bigger battery. The overall size really isn't that much smaller than devices that contain a 3000mAh one. In the end it's all about the battery life of whatever battery a phone was shipped with. Not if it's impressive in terms of numbers or efficiency. You'll get more out of a Pixel 4a than the SE. Obviously that's just one part of a comparison, and I'd say these phones shouldn't really be compared as much to begin with. Too many people are invested in either eco-system, not to mention the SE being quite a bit more expensive than the 4a.

Daniel Gutierrez I agree. No one should buy the SE for gaming as it would be a bad experience. This is for, say my parents, in their 70s that have 1-2h SOT per day that I can keep in touch with via FaceTime and iMessage and they can get email and a few apps. It is simple and limited but at the price great value especially as they keep their phones 4-6 years. A niche phone but ideal for them in 2020!

iPhone se2 battery lasts only 3 hours, battery health is 87%. I only use the phone with cellular data, no wifi. I don't play on it, I just stay on social networks and KZbin. It is normal?

Even though the iPhone se 2020 has a much faster chipset you won't notice a big difference other than in gaming and since most mobile games are capped at similar framerates so you won't tell much of a performance difference. The Google pixel screen is meanwhile larger but not too much that is hard to hold as a phone, much better battery, etc. The iPhone se is Definitely a great mid-range phone but Iwould recommend the Google pixel 4a for the nice features and experience you get from it

@@joshuapanicker6682 Also, the pitiful resolution causes games with complex UIs to become extremely cramped; buttons start overlapping and whatnot. in general, most games are designed with 1080p+ in mind. Most devices that are fast enough to play games have at least a 1080p screen. Except iPhones.

Why don't they compare it to other phones?? Who cares if one is a budget phone and the other one isn't. Pixel 4a can be also compared to iPhone 11. Because iPhone 11 has a shitty 720p LCD resolution and a good camera. Pixel 4a has a good quality screen, and a good camera too. Why don't they compare it to the 11?? Because of the price?? The thing is that for that price, pixel 4a is almost same as iPhone 11 but for less than half of it's price.

TL:DR Pixel won the battery test. Yes expect the system updates and processor, pixel is definitely superior. Will still do a good job in daily use

i exspected the SE to put up a better fight. the pro max is insane, i thought some of that would of rubbed off onto this SE deal but not really lol.. they had to set the battery confidence down low, since this is not just their first affordable phone, but its the beginning of it. so in a decade, it will finally might have a 4,000 mah battery too. tiny upgrades. they know how to play the game thats for sure

The tester should have at least had the apps ready to go with the accounts set up, and shortcuts placed on the Pixel home screen to ensure minimum time between initiating and swapping of apps. It's a shame that the Pixel overheats after 13 minutes of 4K recording, although understandable given the lower spec'd CPU it has.
