Pixel wins on video stability and overall color accuracy since it doesn't change whne you switch up to ultrawide or zooming

Surprising how well the Samsung held up. They have really stepped up their game on their mid range phones recently and it reassures me of the fact that I can comfortably buy one and still have decent camera performance since pixels are not offered here in Malaysia.

Pixel has more contrast, other phones often compensate for contrast with bumping up saturation but A52 is not doing as bad as some other devices, it's quite decent, except for video stabilisation, some details in stills and digital zoom IMO.

The A52 takes good pictures in basically any situations (I personally prefer the 16MP that comes by default over the 64MP). Unfortunately the video stabilisation at 4K and 1080p 60fps is terrible. It looks a lot better on the Pixel 5a.

Nice comparison. Pretty shocking results from a52, its holding on pretty good. Some shots i prefer that of pixel and some from a52 There where shots that i liked both and hated. If have to choose one i might pic A52 or the upcoming A52s and we can add gcam though on A52. 60hz oled Display in 2021 is not a good decicion by google though. Software wise its a personal choice though google is no longer a stock thing though their andoird 12 skin over Vanila is a beauty of its own where as features on one ui is just unmatched. Both have 4yr of security updates i guess and three major os updates. Well both are great phones for me i might go or wait for a52s

Very similar results in many ways, however the level of detail and color accuracy have won me over when it comes to the Google vs the Samsung phones, the winner being the Pixel

I thought at first the comparison between the two was close but the more I watched the more the gap widened. You can tell computational photography bis a true science for google. The colors are much more consistent and pleasing to the eye from the 5a. The A52 was too inconsistent for me. Sometimes the colors seemed inaccurate, sometimes washed out. And shockingly it seemed the A52 photos lacked detail at times. Video on the 5a is much more stable as well. Video was really wobbly on the A52. My only real complaint about the 5a is the narrow field of view as mentioned. Even on the ultrawide.

You can change the colour tone post on many phones now, I have Google Photos also I can adjust photos from years ago to what I prefer? What you forget is that what you see on the Pixel can be achieved in post by any phone so that is a moot point that Pixel fans and Team Pixel make too much of?

@@andyH_England is it moot though? Most consumers aren't concerned with editing software, just point, shoot, post is the point. Skips a step and in a world where convenience is king I think it's a pretty valid point. Also, if you are someone that is concerned with editing photos the more natural, color accurate look pixels provide is better to work with in post than what Samsung does with their computational photography.

I own an A52 but the Pixel 5a pictures are better although I'm not unhappy with the photos I'm getting on my camera. I may just get one of those Gcam camera apps that work on other phones. I already installed a Gcam hack on a Motorola G7 and the pictures are similar to what I see here on your video. Colors come out deeper. Very nice video you made!

Few yrs back pixel had very good camera compared to others. Now camera is almost same in these including other on same category. Only thing that holding on pixel is the stock android software experience and 1st in line software update. If other brands starts giving similar software experience there there won't be many perks left of carrying google phones.

Don't even need flagship phones nowadays to have brilliant cameras. These two are already so good. If I had to choose, I'll go for the pixel of course because I feel like it shoots better photos with human subjects which in this video, there aren't many. Landscape shots are comparable. Also, the video stabilization on the samsung is quite bad eventhough it has a wider fov.

A52 in day light with main and selfie looks better sometimes( by that boosted colors) by pixel 5a just killed a52 in dark , only the selfie struggle due to 8mp shooter , so definitely going with 5a

Interesting to read the comments about apaprent parity because to me the detail on the Pixel is almost always superior by a significant margin when viewed on a decent sized monitor. The A52 takes pretty mushy photos, but the color science is definitely more "pleasing" on the A52. I like the video quality overall on the A52 a little more, but the stabilization appears to be pretty flawed and would be a deal breaker for me. As usual, love your content and approach, thanks for what you do!

If you are after detail I do not think you would buy either of these phones? You would buy a phone that can shoot in RAW with a more modern sensor? So most people using either of these will not be putting on a monitor and zooming in!

I actually sold my Note 20 Ultra and used my backup phone Pixel 4a5G as a replacement for several months because despite the price disparity and the fact that the Note 20 Ultra was better in almost every other regard, the photos taken by the Pixel were consistently superior. For some, like me, photo quality is actually the single most important aspect of a smart phone, with other trade offs being acceptable depending on personal priority.

First of all thanks for doing it. Here is my observations. - Color calibration is very good and natural on Google pixel 5a. However in night mode Samsung does a better job. - Samsung turn images warmer during day light, while Google pixels tried to keep them light, which is good. - Samsung has advantage of higher resolution which makes it better choice for night mode. - Distance background objects are well handled in Google pixel, while Samsung just gets fishy about object. Refer the sky in many images. But at last you can't deny the fact that higher image resolution adds advantage. However, Samaung plays a trick in selfie (AI), it shows face cleaner than actual and everyone loves to look/present better pic of self. And its dilutes the opinion of the owner. So, Google can't be winner because its not Apple's 12 mp. And Samsung can't be winner because it still lacks despite 64 mp. I will say, its tie or someone's choice. Go for either one.

The video on the Pixel is pretty rough especially at night where the lighting floods the picture distorting the reality, an orange/yellow tint ruining the videos. Highlights are also poor with blown out sources. Some artifacting on the Pixel as well. Def not a videographer or vlogger phone!

All photos from pixel looks like it's made in smoke or haze, like lens is not clean. Video from Pixel has amazing digital stabilization. Photos from A52 has more details in day photos but every photo is with green tint. Even sky is green and not blue LOL. When you make 2xDigital zoom somehow photos from Pixel has more details or sharpen filter, which is weird. Very disappointed by Pixel, i was expecting Pixel win by far, but Samsung is very close.

Pixel fans are funny the A52 won this one. The Pixel rear main is so narrow, the front camera comical in this day and age and the Wide angle is more like the A52's main. So boys time has well and truly caught up with the one trick pony. Front cam Wide angle Are wins to the A52, the rest is tight with me leaning towards the A52 for consistent output.
