Honestly, I sucked it up and factory reset my phone because of the bugs and let me tell you...it solved 98% of my bugs. Fingerprint is more accurate, reliable and faster. Still not the fastest but a whole lot better. Zero crashes and battery life dramatically improved. I was getting 5 hrs of SOT max but now 7+ hrs. It's a beast with the reset. Can't wait for that fingerprint update to arrive in Canada and the feature drop should make this untouchable.

Really enjoyed this review thanks. Had my Pixel 6 Pro for 3 weeks & love it. Came from Samsung S21Ultra with absolutely no regrets. Way too much of a big deal made of the fingerprint scanner in my opinion. People are simply brushing their finger past it expecting it to work. Unrealistic! How few fractions of a second do you need to save? If measuring tenths of a second is an issue then life has become pathetic.

My own experience largely mirrors this review. Overall, it's an excellent phone. I also put a screen protector on straightaway BUT why oh why don't they come preinstalled? Especially with this fingerprint reader (coming from a OnePlus 6t, it's performance is about the same but at least that phone had face unlock too). Battery life I have found not so good as in the review, although it is improving as the phone learns more about my usage. On charging, the only thing that I would add is that with some cables it is reluctant to charge. One additional point: the haptics on the phone are great and a joy to use.

"...it is improving as the phone learns more about my usage." So does that mean the adaptive battery feature actually works on the Pixel 6 phones? I've been using the adaptive battery feature for the last 3 years. For the last year on my Pixel 5 and for two years before that on my old Pixel 2 XL. Adaptive battery has never made any difference for me. That's cool if it finally works on the Pixel 6 phones.

Nice overview. I quite like my Pixel 6. The fingerprint unlock is a bitter pill. Works around 10% of the time. Here in Europe we still haven't gotten the November update. I don't understand why not. It doesn't have to be sent via steamship. Like you, I hesitate to factory reset. A pain to set up the phone again. Anyway, I wouldn't know how to go about it.

@@TechnicallySpeaking Thanks for the response. Miracles happen, well half miracles. I redid my prints yesterday: each thumb twice and one index finger once. The sensor seems to recognize enough of my index finger to work - currently - around 60% of the time. A factory reset is an option. I hope I won't have to. I'd have to research how to go about it without losing my current setup. On the other hand, as mentioned, here in Germany we still haven't gotten the Nov. 17 fingerprint fix and then there's the big December update to contend with. Once these updates and fixes arrive, I'll reassess the situation. Apart from the fingerprint reader, I quite like the Pixel 6. I've been using Blackberry software (except for the launcher) and almost feel at home - though nothing can replace the physical keyboard. Alas.

The biggest issue I have with my Pixel 6 Pro is that it's still backordered. I ordered it from Verizon on 10/20/2021 and was told it wouldn't ship until 11/17/2021. The next day I was told it wouldn't ship until 11/30/2021, and then yesterday I was told it wouldn't ship until 01/14/2022. Yeah I think a factory reset really does mske a difference. I upgraded from the pixel 5 to the 6 pro and no issues with any of my apps closing but I did a fresh install no data transfer. It does beat the purpose of the feature "data transfer", but if you want to be bug free it's worth taking the time to factory reset. I hate doing it because to install and sign on to all my apps takes forever!

I been able to to use or own pretty much every flagship device in 2021. I can honestly say the pixel 6 pro is the best phone IV used. Iv had NO issues like others, guess I'm lucky. It's so fast and smooth. I was using an iPhone 13 pro max prior to the pixel Ans give me the pixel all day everyday over the iPhone or even the s21 ultra. Imo the pixel 6 pro has the best software experience on any phone to date. I got the white version and there's little to no visible fingerprints. It's slippy but so are other phones. I have absolutely no inclination for the first time not to get the new note. It literally do not see the point. The pixel 6 pro will last me at least until 2023. Ok it's not the most powerful on paper. Do not let that out you off. Google's software optimisation is second to none. It's absolutely smashes every other phone in terms of fluidity. It's also way more powerful than what you need at this time .

People don't understand the PD charge protocol, or they understand just enough to make ignorant criticisms. Never heard all this nitpicking about other PD phones like iphones or Samsung (S21 requires enabling fast charge or extra fast charge separately). Google recommends a 30W PD charger bc it's a PD value that's actually available and covers the phone's max profile. Another issue is many reviewers recommending charger brands that aren't PD, but some proprietary protocol that supposedly embraces the PD profile, but who knows? If phone and charger don't match protocol handshake, it will default charge at good ol' 5W slow charge.

Cool. you know what is going on, but my 75 year old mum would not, we are not all tecchies. Google should have marketed it with the simple truth, that these have max charging of about 23 watts but recommend 30-watt to cover the parameters? They would have got no negativity with explaining this. Instead, they implied 30 watt was the max charging and people are not happy with seemingly being misled, it is the optics and as a big company you have to have a team to make sure you are upfront.
