Its sad that google can slap a thermometer in pixel 8 pro, which nobody wanted or asked for, but they are not interested to acomodate a SD card slot. These companies stripping away popular features like headphone jack or sd card slot, makes me look toward sony xperia 1 v. If sony promised 5years of software n security, i would buy it at any price at all. Please compare google pixel 8 pro, vs sony experia 1 v, vs samsung s23 ulta, in terms of user experience, UI, in hand feel, features, battery drain time, thermal management, and value for money. I think I'm going to go for the Pixel 8. I'm a photographer. For serious missions I take my normal photography gear. The smartphone is for when I'm off-duty with no particular project in mind and I do snapshots. No need for the extra lens and features of the 8 Pro which is too big anyway. Currently I have a Samsung S20FE which I'm happy with most of the time but the colours are sometimes too saturated

I am sooo so happy the era of curved edges and "infinity screens" are seemingly coming to an end. It was a horrible idea that added absolutely zero function, it just looked cool in the promotional materials. The curved shape also forces you to buy a case unless you want to constantly accidentally activate the touchscreen with your thumb and palm, making web browsing actually the most annoying thing ever. I only realized I hate curved edges after having my note10+ for 2 years because I decided to use it without a case for the last couple weeks before my new phone arrived. I just always assumed you buy a case when you buy a phone but it's actually so unnecessary, especially if the phone has good enough natural grip. Horrible idea should have never been a thing

I went from a Samsung S20 plus to the Pixel 8. I dont think the curved screen is that bad, but switching back to a flat screen, I definitely prefer it more now. I returned my Pixel 8 due to the battery life on mine being pretty bad. I got the Pixel 8 Pro and its been much better all around, longer lasting battery, better camera, screen, etc.

6:00 - iPhone 6S got its most recent security patch update on 11 Sept 2023 - that's 8 years since release. Last feature update was Sept 2022 - 7 years. iPhone 5S received security updates for 9.5 years

It runs iOS 16.7 so while there will be no further feature updates, security updates should continue. Typically Apple has been providing security updates for 3 years after the last OS update.

I got the Pixel 8 in hazel. It feels like a premium upgraded version of my Pixel 5a. I had a P6 Pro and it feels like a completely different phone. The build quality and weight of the phone are reminiscent of iPhone in some ways.

@@josephschorr7832 the 8 feels really small to me compared to the 6 Pro, it feels like my 5a which I also thought was much smaller feeling. If you don't mind the screen size, I would suggest upgrading. I see a noticable difference in brightness and the Android 14 feels incredibly fluid. The camera I have not tested so far tbh. I am personally very happy with the Pixel 8 and like the small sized form factor.

@@asd77691 I like the Google and Android 14 fluidity is the main reason and I have had issues with Samsung before, a long time ago, so I do not trust them as much personally. I used to have a Galaxy Note 5 and it had a lot of issues, I do not trust the build quality and longevity as much with Samsung still. That is my personal opinion and experience.

I quit Samsung many years ago because of their bloatware. Idk if they still load phones up with a bunch of crappy apps you can't get rid of, but that always annoyed me. Also they were slower than their hardware should have been. Samsung feels like the Dell of phones to me. @@asd77691

Ultimately I chose the Pixel 8 in Hazel because of the size. I have carpal tunnel and the larger phones are harder to hold. As much as i wanted the pro for the camera properties, i couldn't justify it.

I have a s21, have played with the 6 a lot. Love the 6 when I'm not at work but it still is a pretty big phone. Curious to know as well whether the size feels any bigger? Does it feel better than a 6 despite the size increase? The 6 is a very heavy square feeling, couldn't get the 8P off the stand at best buy today to check it out....

I've gone for the Pro. This will be my first Pixel phone and I wanted to go all in but I really like the 8 and it's close to the size of phone I prefer. I think in future Google should try to do an 8 sized phone with the pro specs, that would be my ideal phone. I tend to upgrade every 3 years or so. I'm hoping Google won't disappoint but I'm coming from an old Sony Xperia 5iii so I can't see that being an issue.

@@tychan2788 Yeah, I went for a 256GB version. I've always got phones with a SD slot but that is pretty much not happening these days with only Sony and a couple of others still doing it. I know we have cloud backup now but all those 48mp pics and any music music I download tend to be big high quality files. Also if you game on your phone I don't think 128 is big enough these days. 128GB is another thing Google could stop doing but but they should do 256 for the same price to bring the value back to the pixel line.

Many brands flagship phones are large. I too would get the better spec phone with a smaller size. Because prices nowadays are so crazy, I think manufacturers had to make the phones bigger to give a better "perceived" value. Pay more = get more

Mobile phone is mainly for used for taking the phone in our hand or pocket. Only pixel 8 will comply. I prefer only p8 will be good which is handy and good features. If anybody want pro modes they can buy a good dslr camera

I am always a 2 phone guy and used to have a big android and smaller iphone. But now that android battery has been really good, I flipped it up and have a smaller android pixel 6 and the big iphone pro max. I would say the pixel 6 is not that small at 6.4 inches so i feel like i have 2 big phones now. The pixel 8 looks more compact and might be worth the upgrade.

Ordered the non pro. To me, if you don't use all those features every day, you'll never miss it. You also wont miss the extra $300 because you'll still have it. To each their own, but I use my phone for call, text, and watching KZbin. No need for a crazy camera or AI camera features.

Your non pro is perfectly capable of all those same camera features. Your non pro is definitely perfectly capable of ALL the features that will in the future not even happen on the device but instead on Google's servers. But Google can't be bothered to give them to you unless you pay them an extra 300 dollars. The hardware is all there, you're just not giving these anti consumer clowns enough money to warrant them giving you access to the artificial " exclusive" features.

@@albundy06 EXACTLY. All the heavy lifting is being done by the cloud servers, which is why the restriction is so petty. Both models have the same processors, and are basically the same, but Google decided to artificially make one "better" and "more pro". While those features CAN be made available on the P8, I'm not going to bank on Google doing right by us and taking money out of their pockets to do the right and honest things.

I was content with my Pixel 6 Pro, but accepted a "free" Pixel 8 from Verizon. I am looking forward to a slightly smaller phone. The biggest difference with the 8 Pro is the camera and I just don't care about that (I would have no idea how to use the manual camera settings). The 7 years of support is a major draw!

I decided to buy the Pixel 8. I was switching from the almost flagship Xiaomi 12X. The reason for me was mainly the long-term software support from Google, more storage and a better camera (mainly for shooting videos). I quickly got used to the faithful rendering of the colors of the Pixel photos, and the Xiaomi photos seem really oversaturated and lacking in detail. Despite the higher price tag, I would go for the Pixel 8 Pro, but I can't stand its size.

Excellent piece of hardware from Google. For a decent usage (only calls, map navigations and WhatsApp) the charge lasts up to 1.5 days. Software is as usual smooth.

The Pixel 8 size did it for me it's a fantastic compact alternative to Samsung and iPhone. The software camera and screen are fantastic! The form factor for me Google nailed it. The only disappointment for me was the processor which is still no slouch.

I believe the pro models shouldn't have a major increase in features and components that can differentiate from the regular model. I think that the regular model should still have an all as one package deal. For example adding an extra lens for the pro models and dual front facing cameras, etc. Just having a bigger battery and display woud just be the best as an option.

Google made this year so much more difficult. They put some really good features behind a paywall, and those features don't even require the added RAM that the Pro offers. I had to get the Pro, but obly because i didn't want to miss out on the video feature. Otherwise, i would have been perfectly happy with a red Pixel 8

@@pratzwho there are 2. One is the feature where you shoot video, then Google basically makes it better by processing it on the cloud. The Pro also does night sight video, the regular pixel doesn't. The second one is the zoom enhance feature. You can zoom in on pictures and video, and even though it's grainy, the pro will use AI to make it clearer and cleaner.

They also said that the features I just mentioned were staying pro-only. I wouldn't bank on them porting something over just because they can. How would you compare the P8 (non-Pro) to the Zenfone 9? I replaced my P6 with the Z9 after watching several reviews back when it came out due to the P6 just feeling like a brick in my hands. With some hardware issues causing random reboots (that Asus was hardly helpful in dealing with) and other minor things, I'm considering replacing it with the P8, or holding out for the P9, if it's not worth making the change now.

I get why they so a base and a pro at launch then the a later but just stop. Develop the a to actually compete with the pro at launch and let people choose more easily. I'll always go with the pro version and skip whol generations until they prove the next thing is better. The 8 pro is definitely a worth while upgrade for me from the 6 pro. Pixel just needs to go back to Snapdragon. The tensor G3 is equal to the 888 they got you paying $1000 fot a 3 year old processor. Google could just make an separate AI chip and throw it in there. If AI is what the G3 is all about. I have the pixel 7 battery is okay, it lags, and gets hot sometimes for no reason and that's all because of that Samsung made processor. How does the S23 and Asus zenphone 10 get way better battery life with smaller batteries in them? Thats because Snapdragon is a way better processor. Google should be ashamed of themselves. The company that made Android. A software company and they cant figure out how to get the battery right 🤦
