OnePlus also offers smart charging features now like SuperVooc can stop your battery from charging at 80% smart charging overnight etc. IDK what's wrong with my phone, maybe custom launcher but my battery drains super fast listening to pocket casts all day at work on BT headphones

After owning pixels, i had the 12r and it's the clear winner. I wish they'd stop the useless cameras padding up the spec sheet. Currently using the 12 and it's a beast.

I think at this point in time, the Pixel probably wins my wallet. I've recently started to change my EDC and overall habits. All of the computer, gaming and smart tasks have moved on to a tablet, leaving my phone with only two uses: communication and camera.

I love that we have both of these options in! I love Pixel software communication features soooo much, but that hardware from OnePlus is so nice. Honestly I would tailor my usage based on which device I had.

I bought the OP 12 and overall it seemed like a good phone, solid, responsive, long lasting battery. But was lacking on some of the smarter features that my Pixels and Samsungs have had in the past and ultimately decided to return it. But what really got me was the terrible customer support. I started the return process and it took weeks for them just to send me the return shipping label. Each time I contacted support (which I did many times) I was promised I would get the label within 2 days and yet it never arrived. It wasn't until I began the charge-back process through my bank that miraculously the label arrived within a day. That experience alone was bad enough that I am weary of buying another OnePlus product.

These 2 would-be a hard choice for me. I have had 2 Pixel a-series (4a, 6a) and like what they offer as phones; they tend to be small, and have everything I need and have a point and shoot photography focus. However, I've never had a One Plus before so seeing other takes on Android is fun and interesting, the 12R has a great blue color, I'm sure the cameras are good enough as most of my photos are using the main sensor. Plus massive battery, good reception, efficient SOC, and fast charging. Honestly if I flipped a coin and bought one or the other I'd probably be fine with it. Great review, thanks

Have both, I couldn't decide. Like the sizes of the pixel but the soc of the OP12R in the end it came down to signal strength and charging speed, So I kept the OP12R and it was $100 cheaper at $400

I've never had a Google phone. The extended support and quicker updates (and betas) sound very appealing to me. HOWEVER, I love, love, love, love, looooove the full charge in under 30 minutes. I still have my OnePlus 10T/Pro and they are stellar with their battery life. That and the performance in general is just great. I did consider a Google phone to take a break from OnePlus, but the deal on the Motorola Razr (2023) was too hard to pass up. Great phone, BTW.

I'm really impressed by how far mid range phones have come. I just switched from high end device to Nothing's Phone 2a and I have to admit I'm not really missing anything and I'm quite impressed with the camera.

Probably OnePlus (Battery Life ⏳), but I take a LOT of pictures and some video so I'm not 100%. The 12R's snaps seem plenty good enough, but the video recording samples that I have seen are not awesome.

Watching this on my Poco F6 Pro lol. OnePlus in my country bumped up the 12R's price to be almost $750. Resellers sell the Pixel 8a at around $480. Sucks that my country made the pricing of these phones waaay inconsistent. Would've gotten the 12R if it was around the same price but even then the Poco F6 Pro sold here for even cheaper (less than $450)

My daughter and I needed a phone at the same time. She got the Pixel 8 and I got a oneplus. For me the 5-10 min on a fast charger to get a full day of power is the must have home run.

Ive bern using the 12r for over a week now. The antenna signal is strong and the only down side for me is that the selfie camera only shoots video at 1080p 30fps. Phones back from 2020 can shoot at least 1080p 60fps and even 4k 30fps

Well I can't think of many phones back then that started at $500 that shot 4K from the selfie, but your point is spot on. We haven't seen as much tech trickle down to lower prices as we'd hoped. Mid rangers circled the same features and performance for two years just because of increased 5g component prices.

My current device has 65W charging speed and I've developed this habit of plugging in my device while I get ready to go out and the moment I'am about to set off, I already have a day's juice. So anything below 65W now will literally make me feel like stone age. Anyways I am still skeptical about Tensor's performance in the long run, not to forget the extreme battery drain and thermal issues, I'll probably ditch pixel unless Google changes their fabrication to that of TSMC from Samsung. Also the main USP of pixel phones were camera but slowly the chinese vendors are closing that gap while delivering stellar performance and battery bb.

My experience with Oneplus 8t was not very good, fast charging damages the battery quickly and with the updates it was worse and the screen was filled with green lines 😡

As of now I'm rocking a pixel 6, my gf has had 2 pixels as well (4a and 6a), those things are buggy, in both hardware and software... Speakers bug, apps bug, etc. a lot of things are extremely frustrating... Especially when considering this is google os on Google devices 7 years of update might be good on paper but I would not imagine still rocking the same pixel device that long without going crazy... I've also had 1+7pro back when it launched, that was a crazy phone but it lacked photo consistency and battery life has drastically decreased in less than a year and I miss that charging speed... Tough choice

Pros of OP12R: - Much faster SoC - Much faster wired charging Pros of Pixel 8a: - More timely software support - USB3 with wired video out The Pixel 8a could be a great buy if there's no discount for the Pixel 8. But then again, it's not hard to get a secondhand Pixel 8 for the same price as a brand new Pixel 8a.

First at risk of being a broken record but credit where credit is due @SomeGadgetGuy you really do make an excellent video, your delivery is so on point, thank you so much. Personally I think that the One Plus would get the nod for me, i have my phone in hotspot mode almost all day (including when I go out if I'm with my daughter) so I think that its capabilities around that as well as the charging speed would definitely help, imho.

Pixel has better sounding speakers, better haptics, better software, better camera overall. One plus has noticably better performance, exceptional battery life and good enough everything else.
