Yeah, and it would be a perfect opportunity to fix those awful black eyes on Trap Jaw. Yellow irises with black pupils would better, and more accurate to both the vintage and Classics figures.

They'd need to retool the head to fit a normal body, the Kronis body and removable armor is a new selling point too, so Mattel was unlikely to get rid of it in favor of the original trapjaw head and torso that fit together already, and without the robot arm and partially altered left arm it would look kind of strange to have a trapjaw with an otherwise totally organic body, whereas Keldor to Skeletor, short of the clawed feet and finned arms, is primarily a head swap.

If I can't pre-order an action figure from Target, then I personally consider that action figure as something I will never find on the shelf. Once again Target, don't allow local managers to zero out inventory. Don't allow employees to buy cases. Don't allow employees to hide cases for their eBay scalper friends. Any Target employee that continues to do these practices, I think, should be fired.

The Rise of Evil lived up to it's name. It sure brought out the worse of some MOTU collectors for a bit. Agree would have preferred both characters used the Classics head sculpts. I hope we see more Classics head sculpts in the Origins line. Great review, thank you Dan.

Agree on that they should have both used the classic head sculpts, would have loved to have had an additional head to make Kronis into Trap Jaw as well (or to keep it entirely fresh and unique, a partial Kronis/partial mini-comics head with a blue/green color so wouldn't be too jarring with the blue body buck)...but I really do like this set quite a bit, as well as that box art, especially with Hordak in the clouds which was such a nice touch, as well as the mini-comics version of stratos, which I also really hope we get in this line...I wish the armor on Keldor would have matched a little closer to the brighter purple shown on the box art, but oh well...hoping to snag one of these and also, incredible job as always with these Dan, thanks for putting together!

Nice dude man! I agree, if it can't hold its sword, that's lame. The Kronis head isn't that bad. Looks a bit more cartoony, but that's appropriate for this line. It doesn't look that much different from the classics. That one has too many shadows and inking for me.

For what it's worth, I found that the best way to fit the sword (at least on Adam anyway) in the hand is have his thumb sit over the handguard.

I honestly didn't have a problem getting this set. Got it in the day this comment went up, and I couldn't be any happier. Keldor looks awesome, same goes for Kronis, and they look even better in person. Sure the purple on Keldor is different then my MUTU Origins Skeletor, but thats ok. As side note: I have no problem getting Keldor to hold the sword.

The sword pops out because the large round part at the top runs into his thumb. I realized it with Prince Adam's sword, because that one was still huge, so I cut down the handle. Afterward, he STILL couldn't hold it, and I realized that it was the round part at the top. You have to cut those down flat for it to work. I have no idea how this got by testing.

My Keldor has the same sword gripping issues. But I find that if you put it in his hand and spin it around a bit he holds it better.

Seems like they must have restocked these at some point. My local Target had like six of them, so I was able to go through and find the one with the cleanest paint. On the other hand, the battle damaged He-man/Battle-cat pack has been nearly impossible for me to find. I only just got lucky and found one, and it was the only one in stock.

Keldor was awesome barring some issues, while Kronos get shafted with the budget for the nitpicks regarding the head sculpt and no gripping hand in the left. Overall great review.

Also something you didn't mention, but Trap Jaw's head doesn't fit on Kronis' body, the peg lengths are different. Really a bummer, because that would have made a great complete Trap Jaw, considering Kronis has the weapon hooks on his back for Trap Jaw's prosthetics.

I've been loving this set, I'm made silicon molds of the Skeletor head and sword. I've makeing a head a day! Also I'm just about done with a Hotwheels custom of both Keldor and Kronos that I'm putting on the artwork from the back of the card.

It is hard to notice, but if you cover the bottom of the Kronis head, you will notice it is the same as the Trap Jaw head except it has a "normal" mouth and different coloured eyes.

Yes, it's just a shame that the upcoming Evil-Lyn is based on the 200X toy colours, rather than the cartoon/staction colours. She looks a look better with silver accents, instead of the lilac version that we are getting.

As of 06-17-2021, as least in the Chicago suburb area, Target is getting this He-Man two-pack back in stock. Enough stock to where I was able to order it online for a pick-up at one of my local Target stores.

The Keldor head looks pretty similar but not the same. Plus if they reused the Classics Kronis head it would be too detailed for this line.

yeah the details are much softer in Origins than Classics. likewise it seems like the new Keldor head has softer cheekbones. maybe I'm wrong, maybe it's not so different to be evidence of a new tool. but if it is a new tool it seems very phoned in because the hair is exactly the same, like a wet mop. I'm surprised they didn't fan it out or put some braids or something. I skipped Classics all together; I was barely aware of it. I thought it was a rip-off or a parody actually 😅 Mo-Lar lol

I finally got this two pack today, and the sword doesnt fit in keldor's right hand, but it fits fine in his left for some reason. The other thing I noticed is the plastic on kronis' legs is way softer than the plastic on trapjaws legs, giving his ankles a lot more articulation under the sculpt of the boots, so I swapped those out.

Be super careful with the Havok Staff and Power Sword. The MOTU Origins fans group on Facebook group is full of pics them being broken relatively easily. That green translucent plastic is not up to snuff with a lot of what I’ve seen on Transformers or anything else.

Not surprising, honestly. Mattel are notorious for that, their Classics Goddess figure back in 2009 had the same problem. Thankfully they aren't using translucent plastic for her Origins figure.

Bend the wrist swivel in and he can hold it also cusp his hand grip and hold it for a minute it and it will help as well

I just opened all my figures, love em all, then I open the rise of evil 2 pack, when I took Kronis out and turned him around, on his armor there are three little slots. Real quick I thought of trapjaws weapons that he has, the little pegs of the weapons fit into back of Kronis armor. I think thats a neat little Easter egg kinda thing.

Somebody had hidden a set behind the Marvel Lego busts at my Target. I happened also to be looking for the Carnage head, and when I moved an Iron Man box, I found these guys! I was pretty excited. I have not yet seen another.

I love the jewel eyes, too! I hope all the Skeletor heads have them going forward. I wish Chronus had blue Man-e-Faces arms in order to make him more accurate to the Classics figure. But like you said, overall fun set. I hope I can find it in the wild. I hate Target with every fiber of my being, and I hope the reborn Toys R Us blows them out of the water next year.

No, you are not the only one having problems with the Origins figures holding the full power swords. And yes, you are correct that it is the length of the handle, but also in conjunction with the sculpt of their thumbs...The sculpt of their thumbs obstructs them from gripping the handle tightly as they are too upright. SDCC He-Man, Prince Adam, all the same issue. I've used the hair dryer trick that you have mentioned several times in your Classics videos and it has worked very well! I heat up their hand, place the sword in their hand while pushing their thumb down a little bit, and basically reshaping their thumbs and tightening their grips as the plastic cools. It's still not the tightest grip for kids engaged in play, but at least this way you can place the swords in their hands and pose them on your shelf without them falling off.

You could try putting some layers of fingernail polish onto the sword handle to thicken it. Maybe the sword would fit better.

As for custom building Skeletor, I wish I didn't have to. That being said, if I did, I'd want Keldor's breastplate (with the paint removed), waistplate, and cape paired with the head, monster-footed boots, and weapons (minus shield) from Battle Armor Skeletor. For Keldor, I'd use the WILDLY overstocked Skeletor body and armor pieces with Keldor's boots, arms, and head. If I had to paint the bat on his chest, it'd be RED (as he's an apprentice/pawn of Hordak). He could use any set of weapons, though I'd want to give him a Prince Adam half sword (or a copy of Origins He-Man's half sword) to give him that 2002 MotU vibe. (He was always like "AHA! I have TWO swords, not ONE!")

I walked in to Target last week and, impossibly, there was a single one of these sitting on the shelf next to the numerous Battle Cat boxes. I went numb and grabbed it, stunned at the luck and clutching the box as if I'd stumbled upon the holy grail. Less than three seconds later, not even a snap of the fingers worth of time, a guy was suddenly standing next to me and politely asking where I found it. If I had been, no exaggeration, THREE seconds slower he would have seen it first and grabbed it instead of me. I am grateful for the unbelievable luck and I hope everyone who wants one can find a set very soon. I commute to and from work, passing three Walmarts and two Targets, usually stopping every other day but rarely finding anything I'm looking for. This was a total stroke of luck.
