"I am Un Chien Andolusia" means "I am an (Andalusian) dog," and a reference to the short film 'Un Chien Andalou," a flick with poster/cover depicting an eyeball with a razor moving towards it. Frank Black (who's founded many projects) is from Boston, but the bass and some of the background vox are Kim Deal from Dayton, Ohio - part of The Breeders with her sister Kelley.

The eyeball thing isn't just on the poster it's in the film. A girl's eyeball (actually a cow's eyeball) is sliced in half with a razor. It's very graphic.

You are correct, they do different styles from soft ballads to rockers, though they are all easily identifiable as Pixies. This song is about Luis Brunuel's bizarre film classic _Un_ _Chien_ _d'Andalou_ (1929). If you've seen the film, the lyrics makes more sense. Pixies formed in Massachusetts back in the 80s. The current top 6 Pixies tunes on my playlist are "Gouge Away" (story of Samson and Delilah), "Monkey Gone to Heaven" (environmental), "Cactus" (umm - request for a memento), "Brick Is Red" (umm again - doesn't have any mention of bricks or red), "All I Think About Now" (a regret about not handling things better), "No. 13 Baby" (umm, something ya just have to hear).
