For anyone wondering about the weird subtitles at 10:05, I can explain. It's kinda technical, but I am gonna try to dumb it down. Minecraft saves assets (textures, sounds, text etc.) in two places: the download itself (i.e. the jar file) and a thing called the asset index. The asset index is what saves sounds and what subtitles they produce, while the jar file saves all the English US translations for text (and also all textures but that isn't the point). The asset index is automatically updated by Mojang every time they release a new snapshot or release version. At the time of writing, Minecraft 1.19.1 has not been released yet, but its snapshots have. This means that the asset index has been updated to 1.19.1, which fixes a bug with tadpoles growing up without producing any subtitles, and so the asset index tells the game to show the translation of "subtitles.entity.tadpole.grow_up" in the subtitles when a tadpole grows up. Minecraft 1.19 does not have that translation though, so it stays as the raw string. Wow that was long.

If you make the floor of the farm from honey blocks it stops the frogs jumping at all and drastically reduces their lag. Credit to ilmango

This has the side effect of the medium magma not taking freezing damage because they are only very slight larger than full block
@williamjones53342 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't that run into the problem he mentioned earlier of the medium cubes not freezing? Honey isn't a full block, ilmango was probably using a different design that didn't rely on powder snow in that way

Nice! One suggestion to help minimize frog-wrangling hassles: don't bother to breed the white (warm) frogs in the overworld. Instead, bring some tadpoles and slimeballs to the nether, release a tadpole at a time into a little pit, and slimeball it to adulthood before it can suffocate. It will mature into a warm frog.

i love seeing how different players deal with these kinds of farms, so many variations but almost all seam to use the same mechanics with the powder snow in some form or the other, btw 2 frogs of each kind is plenty enough to deal with the magma cubes that the spawner produce, which might make things a little easier to breed and transport the frogs.
@soultundra78692 жыл бұрын
8 frogs of each colour seems to work quite well for a spawning platform farm... depending where you build I guess... mines on the nether ceiling (Java) and AFK spot is waaaay above the roof, so it spawns a LOT of cubes... Guessing you could do more or less depending on the size of your spawning platform, but 8 seems to just about keep on top of the baby cubes in each section of my farm :)
@pesegolsson2 жыл бұрын
@@soultundra7869 yes if you have a lot of spawns and you use the "natural" spawn mechanism you might need more frogs. But if you use the spawner in a bastion, 2 of each seams to be enough. Never seen a cube survive for long. The frogs are very hungry creatures. 😀

@TheRealWormbo2 жыл бұрын
Technically you only need to block the layer right above the spawner, since magma cubes, like slimes, can only spawn if their largest form would fit - and large slimes or magma cubes are slightly higher than 2 blocks. Technically it should even be enough to fill in the corner and edge/area center blocks of the 7x7 area right above the spawner. For the same reason you probably want your spawning area to be 11x11 for maximum spawning efficiency.

Thankyou Pixlrifs. Neat design, and the tip about enclosing the spawner in dirt is a good reminder to turn them off while building. I built it and it is working great. One tweak I made is to NOT use rails and instead use hoppers under mud bricks to collect items. Oh yeah, but how, some may ask... Snow blocks spaced as in this tutorial, skip one layer, then a layer of vertical chains so large and medium get broken up by the snow, , then only smallest magma cubes fall through to a floor of mud where the frogs are kept. (The frogs do not jump above the chains anyway even if it is a tight space). Then under that is a layer of hoppers and normal collection chests however you see fit.

I finished making a froglight farm yesterday before watching this, as I wanted to have a go at one without relying on ideas from other folks first. They are remarkably easy! I did build mine on the nether ceiling tho, just made a magma cube spawning platform in a basalt delta biome, with golems to attract the cubes over to a drop chute with froggos in the bottom and some powder snow to smallify the bigger cubes. It's not the most efficient farm in the world, my spawning platform is too big so half of the cubes don't spot the golems, and they take up some of the mob cap until they despawn or hop close enough to see the golems... but after a few hours of AFK, I've got more froglights than I will EVER need 😆

That is something my friend and I will have to look out for, but we do have nether portals hooked up to places that have other biomes. edit: quick question, why are solid blocks necessary for the landing pad at the bottom of the farm where the magma cubes fall into? couldn't you just use honey blocks to prevent the magma cubes from jumping out of the powdered snow?

My Treasure Room appeared in a Warped Forest this time, so I have Endermen mobbing (no pun intended) my farm. Unfortunately they have a bad habit of hopping into the lava then popping into my farm and destroying my powder snow blocks. I had to fill up all the lava pits and replace gravel with stone in a few places where they were grabbing a gravel block and unstopping a hole. I just hope I don't have to find and fill in every bit of lava in the building. I do love this farm, though.
