This is a great guide on terraforming! You explain ‘why terraform’ as you demonstrate instead of doing a block by block placement. I, for one, much rather this style to other tutorials. Thank you for sharing how you have terraformed around builds in a way that I can actually use in my own world.
@Pixlriffs2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I’m glad this approach works for you - it’s a philosophy I like to bring into this whole series. We can all build the same farms or houses or landscapes - but understanding why we’re doing it (and how it can be done differently) is the key to enjoying the game every time we log in.

Love the clay analogy. I don't consider myself visually creative, and I hate tearing apart my world unnaturally because it feels like I'm destroying the world, but picturing myself removing blocks as you did with the stone to later use for the stone formations in front of the storage house makes the idea easily digestible as a player. I feel like I could do more in my worlds because of you :')

You and fwhip are one of my favorite builders. I remember when I discovered fwhip, I was amazed, I look and watched everything he made, I was determined to do teraforming in our server. Ok, I'm not good doing it, I messed up countless times, I wasted a lot of blocks, things look unnatural. I stopped for a while, I just focused on my building skills first. When Empires s1 was released, I was immediately obsessed. Everyone knows how to build a beautiful place (except Jimmy but he's learning) But, you sir caught my attention. Your build style is really unique, when you started to teraform your place, I WAS FLABBERGASTED. It's just awesome, it looks so lush, and it doesn't look chaotic at all. The landscape is just chef's kiss. Your empire is the best IMO. It's just simple, and so beautiful. I am really looking forward to your builds in empire season 2.

this is exactly what i've been looking for, i've wanted to see for ages how other builders look at, asses, then build upon their terrain, i think it's so helpful not just to say "put this block here then get this one and put that block there" but instead be like "This is what I see, this is what i would like to see, and this is how i will achieve it" - not enough builders explain their process like this

This is such a good video, it's surprisingly hard to find advice on this kinda building that is more general and still useful beyond "practice" and "iterate." I would love a tutorial like this for other aspects of building that people find un-intuitive like organics broadly or statues. This was a joy to watch and I think I'll be returning to this video often when I am stuck with a landscaping project because you put words to stuff I've had trouble with.

I love the idea of making paths that are gentler in slope. I've been doing that a lot lately, forcing myself to not go up more than 1 block for every 4 to 6 horizontal blocks. One other idea when doing paths like this: make yourself a shortcut if it's an important path to eg storage or farms. You'll get tired of taking the long way round every time you need something from your storage.

My friend recently purchased a realm and I've been pretty active on it for pretty much since June. The world spawned two decently sized mushroom fields close by each other (and a third smaller one a bit farther away but about 3-5 minutes of rowing away to find). I've used one as a starter island building farms, storage etc. However the other island is far larger and am changing that into a kingdom of sorts (kind of like the Mushroom Kingdom...buildings using mushroom caps in the builds, paths etc). I was planning on just redoing the whole island with grass but I figured I'd add a bit of lore and actually been using moss instead. It not only is easier but way faster and more easily accessible for me being on a mushroom field/not having to dig a bunch up. But the lore behind it being the settlers tried growing grass on the mycelium but had issues with the mycelium overtaking the grass/dirt. Thus they had to make a compound similar to a moss substance so they can grow vegatation, crops etc.

@Pixlriffs2 жыл бұрын
I don't need optifine, and using the Replay Mod for this series adds to the production time. Rendering stuff for time lapses can take hours, especially in 4k resolution. Additionally, I don't want to rely on either of them for this series, because they often take a while to catch up once Mojang releases new updates for Minecraft. I use Replay Mod plenty in the Empires SMP series that just started, and we have various Fabric mods that fill out the functionality Optifine provides.
