Getting any rank is acquired by getting enough points in the level. You can get either a D, C, B, A, or S Rank based on your performance at the end. Getting to B isn't too difficult if you're aiming for most of the collectibles in a level, but if you want to hit S rank you will have to pull up some leg work.
To get a P Rank in a level, it is expected that you do the following things within one run of any level:
Kill an enemy before leaving the first room
Get enough points for an S Rank
Find all toppins
Find all secrets
Get the secret treasure
Go through the Lap 2 portal
Never drop your combo once

@@JHWaWa Even then, clothes unlocked on one save file are unlocked on all save files, so even if you screwed up on your main save file you can keep trying on the other two and unlock it for every save file once you succeed.

A tip if you’re p ranking: Do NOT rush the secrets, because you will probably fall down. There are lots of toppings in the secret areas which will maintain your combo.

yeah if you fall, you won't be able to get any topping collectibles in time to save your combo, I generally take it easy in the secret areas, not trying to speedrun, just trying to p-rank John Gutter at least

i love how ridiculous the rank names get after cheflike. it starts as compliments, then it detours into progressively more intense synonyms for “evil” until it just gives up and entitles you “Funny”, before it loops again, which gives you the amazing “VERY Not Bad But Not Great Either” and “VERY Getting Somewhere”

It's also ok to (sometimes) take your time. Secret 1 used to be a struggle because i tried to go as fast as i could, but when i walked it was way easier. But you do have ot mostly go fast and sometimes spam dash.

I just got Pizza Tower yesterday, and man is getting a hang of Peppino's movement is tricky. The most common thing i do is hitting the walls and getting my keys mixed up, I only barely managed to S Rank this level, makes me consider just P Ranking the bosses tbh. I currently finished the first floor, second floor of the tower is next.

if you want to finish first pizza time faster, as soon as you come out of the John pillar room and your and mach speed, hold diagonally down and left, youll dive and skip all of it. also on Lap 2, on the superjump to where you get the treasure, instead of climbing the wall, superjump like the first pizza time, then dash right out of it and youll get a better jump onto the section on the right.
